Chapter 34 Lupine Wolf
The stillness that had engulfed everyone had thickened the air, and even with the loud music, it was still loud enough to instill apprehension into everyone who could see the white wolf.
Mia was getting closer to the alpha, her canines still showing as she moved slowly and steadily.
Russell took a deep breath, slowly bending his posture.
“You have to be in control, Mia. It is me.” He said quietly, his voice shaking profusely.
The beads of sweat that ran down his body didn’t matter to him, his right foot leaving the ground as he got ready to take another step backward.
“You can do this, Mia.” He said nervously, and then he cleared his throat to get rid of the clog that besieged him.
“Please, Mia.” He muttered, his heartbeat increasing.
He looked into Mia’s eyes, and even though it seemed like they could say words to each other, there seemed to be a barrier standing in the way of communication.
“Tristan!” Russell called out to his wolf, but for the first time in years, he failed to give him a response.
“Can you reach out to her wolf?” He said calmly, but there was nothing.
Mia was still growling, slowly moving toward him.
Then she stopped just when Russell thought she was about to attack him, and the next thing, she fell, collapsing on the ground.
Her fiery eyes remained the same, but they stopped glowing, and before long, she was returning to her Human form.
Russell quickly pulled out his jacket and covered her before her transformation could be completed, and then he carried her with both hands.
Alara walked toward him, her arms wrapped around her.
Russell growled at her, causing her to stutter.
“I don’t want to hear it!” The Alpha grunted, walking out of the lounge while he carefully held onto Mia.
Her eyes were shut tightly, but she was still breathing heavily, her arms dandling as the Alpha held onto her.
He carried her out of the club through the back door reserved only for a few members of the VVIP, his eyes staring at her with so much concern.
The moment he dropped her in the back seat of his car, he got in and zoomed off at once.
He kept on looking back at her throughout the ride back to the Hamilton Castle, speeding up whenever he felt like.
Finally, he was home.
He carried Mia into his room and lay her on his large royal bed and covered her with a white sheet.
Then he tossed the jacket to the ground and sighed heavily, realizing that she had become almost twice as heavy as she was earlier.
Gripped by uncertainty and bemusement, he kept his eyes on her while he kept on pacing from one corner to the next.
Mia was still unconscious, and he couldn’t tell how long she was going to remain that way, or if she was going to wake up.
He turned toward the open door as soon as he heard the footsteps accompanied by a silent thudding.
“You are here, Uncle!” He sighed as soon as he saw Alfred staggering into the large room.
“I am so sorry that I had to call you by this time. I was left with no choice.” Russell took a deep breath, pointing to Mia.
“She shifted, Uncle Alfred.”
The old Elder turned to the Alpha, taking his eyes away from Mia.
“Isn’t that supposed to be a good thing?” He asked with arched brows.
The Alpha nodded, attempting to shake off the nervousness that gripped him.
“It was a white wolf, Uncle. She had glowing eyes like dragon flame!”
“Oh.” Alfred’s eyes widened, and he kept his mouth agape while he shifted his gaze to Mia.
“A white wolf?” He muttered while he took three steps toward Mia.
When he felt like he was close enough, he took a deep breath, slowly moving his right hand toward Mia’s face.
He held onto his walking staff with his left hand, pushing it to the ground.
He opened Mia’s left eye, and as soon as he saw her fiery eyes, he let go of her eyelid, letting her eye shut at once.
Russell’s eyes were begging for an explanation, his breath still unsteady.
“What is it, Uncle?” The Alpha thought he could read the old Elder’s countenance, but the only thing he could see was uncertainty.
Alfred looked at Mia for a few seconds, and then she shifted her gaze to the Alpha, staring silently at him.
Then he took a deep breath, limping away from Mia.
“She is a Lupine wolf, Russell. The first in a century. She is pure, Russell.” He returned his gaze to Mia, and then he sighed heavily.
His eyes were burned with a strange feeling, and no matter how hard the Alpha attempted to read it, he couldn’t.
“What does this mean, Uncle Alfred? Please tell me.” He pleaded with his eyes, and it didn’t matter how long Alfred was going to take.
He needed answers, his entire body still succumbed to the flashes of the experience at the lounge.
Alfred sighed heavily, yet he couldn’t regain his composure.
“She is not an ordinary Luna, Russell. I think she has the same gifts as her mother.”
“She is a flare?” Russell asked, and as soon as his uncle nodded, he grunted, clenching his fists tightly.
“No, Uncle. This shouldn’t be. Not her as well.” His voice was barely above a whisper, losing its grip.
Alfred shook his head slowly, shifting his gaze to Mia.
“Maybe it is time for you to abolish that rule, Russell. She is your mate, and you have to protect her at all costs.” He moved closer to the Alpha and patted him on the shoulder.
“You are the Lycan King, and I think it is time for the entire Northern territory to know that.” He paused for a few seconds, watching as Russell struggled with his breath.
“Claim her, Russell. Claim her at all costs. I have a strong feeling that she will bring about the birth of a new era.”
