What awaits in the dark

What awaits in the dark
CHAPTER 10

The practical classes commenced and I could see everyone with their respective partners working on the project we were given but mine was different, as always!

For the past thirty minutes I hadn't seen Claudia and while I was happy about the fact that I won’t be having her around to disrupt my peace, I was still furious she had left the entire work for me to do!

I sigh, returning back to my seat to get my jotter so I could proceed with what we had to do. I grabbed my jotter, but as I was about to leave, a piece of paper fell out of it. Inside the paper there was an inscription “Have fun babysitting the queen bee.” I rolled my eyes frustrated and stared at them! It was very obvious that the triplets had done this. My gaze fell on Alex who winked at me.

“Ewww.” I spat, ignoring the rest and returned back to my table. Claudia was already back, waiting for me, her gaze intense, her smile, fake.

“We need to put our differences aside and work together on this project.” I started, flipping through the pages of the note until I found what I was looking for.

“What differences?” She asked.

“Claudia you know what I'm talking about, don't act dumb.” My tone intensified, and I guess that passed the right information that I was ‘in no mood for jokes...

~

We were done in no time, and I was actually surprised Claudia offered a helping hand. Maybe she was beginning to have a change of heart towards me, I thought to myself.

As we waited for the teacher to return and access our project, I decided to ask her something that has been on my mind for a long while.

“Who is Brianna?” I asked.

She almost choked on her drink on hearing what I said.

“I don't know, you should ask the triplets. Aren't you their little seductress.” She scoffed in a mockery tone.

“I am not a seductress…” I yelled, attracting the attention of half of the class.

“Uhmm, then what are you?” She asked.

“Who I am to the triplets is none of your business.” I hissed and walked away from her.

I needed a taste of fresh breath, away from everyone, especially that witch. It's been just two weeks into school and I was already paying dearly for what I don't even know about.

I went into the restroom, trying to calm myself down when I suddenly remembered about mum!
Gosh I hadn't called to check up on her, I took out my phone from my back pocket and dialed her number a couple of times but I wasn't reachable.

I couldn't help but hope that everything was fine back at the pack house.

I needed to round up with classes and then detention class so I could go home and rest for the entire weekend.

Thinking of the relief that came with the weekend set me in the right mood and I went back into the classroom.

“Welcome back.” She said but I totally ignored her and carried on with what I was doing but she wouldn't stop.

“What does two weeks' detention sound like?” She asked with an evil smile plastered all over her face.

“Wait, what?” I wasn't given enough time to act fast and just then Claudia spills ink on the project and on my phone!!!

“Shit!” I gasped as I picked up my phone from the ink mess, my face was burning with some much anger and furry. Who the heck did she think she was to do that?! I dashed towards her direction with the aim to teach her a lesson for messing with the wrong person, but she was too fast, she dodge my attempt and my hand struck against the nearby wall.

“Everyone! Alicia is vandalizing the school's property. Look what she did to the walls.” She yelled.

Huh? I wasn't vandalizing any school property. I just picked up my phone from the large ink stain and yes there was stain in my hand when I dashed towards her but…
I paused on my track when I saw my hand print bold on the wall, shit!

“Alicia again? Doesn't she ever get tired of being the center of attraction?” One of the girls scoffed.

“I didn't do anything.” I stood my ground, trying to defend myself.

“Oh… so why do you have ink on your hand?” One of the boys asked.

“That's because she framed me!” I said and everyone started laughing. Except the triplets.

Just then the teacher walked into the classroom, “What's going on here?”

“Ma'am, Alicia was caught Vandalizing school property.” One of Claudia's minion yelled and I knew I was doomed this time around.

ARNOLD’S POV.

“We need to help her!” I said, trying to convince my brothers.

The school management had severe punishment meted out to students who were caught vandalizing school properties and to make matters worse Alicia was already in detention. I knew I didn't like her for what she did to me and my brothers but the best way of punishing her was to keep her around and that was the only reason I wanted to help her.

“We will not be helping her.” Alex muttered, loud enough for us to hear.

I turned my gaze to Adrian who had said absolutely nothing yet.

“Adrian???” I coughed.

“Mehn I don't know, besides she deserves whatever is happening to her now.” Adrian finally spoke, avoiding my eyes.

“But we all know she didn't do that right?” I asked no one in particular.

“That doesn't matter, she is yet to face the actual punishment of what she did to us!” Alex flared up and I blinked, jeez that was too much anger and hatred he had for her.

“She’s still our mate and nobody is allowed to punish her except us.” I smirked. “Dad leaves tonight and when he does, we can do with her as we please.” I added and they smiled understanding what I was talking about.

“Alright, just this one time.” Alex warned.

~

Alicia had been in the principal's office for almost twenty minutes and I knew there was no way the school wouldn't give her a suspension for vandalising school property. Anyways, that won't last for long, earlier my brothers and I had cornered the security man in charge of the CCTV camera for video proof that Alicia wasn't involved in vandalization of school properties.

The principal had asked her to go and pick up her properties as she had been suspended indefinitely. I waited until she left his office then I sneaked inside his office.

Of course he was happy to see me, after all it wasn't everyday he got the honour of seeing me and my brothers…

“Sir, I have something to show you.” I stated, as I showed him the video proof that showed that Alicia was indeed innocent of all the allegations. He was shocked and surprised that Claudia would do something so extreme just to get Alicia out of the school.

“How did you get this?” He asked..

“I have my ways sir.” I replied waving off the details that I had no time to narrate.

“Thank you Adrian…” he said.

“Arnold. Sir..” I corrected him.

It wasn't the first time people mistook me for my brothers and I was tired of getting angry about that already.

I left the office and on my way out, I met Simon.

“What's up Arnold. What are you doing here?” He asked and I smirked… “I'm waiting for drama to unfold.

Alicia and Claudia were called into the office and this time, the principal presented the video evidence of Claudia actually spilling ink intentionally on Alicia's mobile phone which triggered her anger.

Claudia on seeing the evidence starts to beg the principal for mercy but he didn't pay any attention to her cries.

He asked Claudia to apologize to Alicia and after that, she was asked to pick her things and leave the school never to return.

“Explosion?” Simon blurted and I held his mouth in a reflex movement..

“Shhh…” I whispered as we walked out of the premises.

“Yes, explosion.” I scoffed.

“Damn! That's rather too far.” He commented.

“And what do you mean by that? Alicia should suffer instead?” I asked, my tone was sharp, lacing with anger over what he had just said.

“I'm not saying that, and you know I have an eye for her.” he sighed.

“Well, good for you. Besides, I don't think that would last for long.” I said walking further away before Alicia caught a glimpse of me.

“The principal sounded damn serious.” Simon trembled.

“She's the mayor's daughter, it won't last for long but she'll surely get punished.” I said finally dismissing the topic.

I met the rest of my brothers and together we headed towards the exit.

“So you saved her ass just to get her in deep shit” Adrian blurted.

Well, if only she knew what awaits her at home wasn't what she had bargained for.
