"Uncle Robert?" A small, weak voice interrupted the handsome doctor's daydream. Robert turned to the source of the voice, staring at the innocent face that was looking at him doubtfully. The man for a moment stared at the innocent eyes that seemed hesitant to approach him. "Come here." He spread his arms hoping the boy would run into his arms. However, his hopes were dashed as the boy just stared at him and remained silent. "Come on, come here. Sit here," said Robert, patting the chair beside him. He saw those small round eyes glancing at the chair beside him. The skinny footsteps walked hesitantly towards the seat. Robert tried to be friendly, he carved his face with a charismatic smile that is always displayed on the screen. "How are you, is anything sick?" Robert was at a loss as to what to say to the boy. Kenzie shook his head. Like a patient in front of a doctor about to inject him, the boy looked at Robert with fear. Robert's question made him feel like an injection. "Are you comfortable in your room?" "Yeah," Kenzie said slowly. Robert looked at the child he had just gotten back. The boy who was never wanted when he was still a seed. A new child reappeared in his life after five years had passed. Even then, he doubted the truth. It was the first time he had done the right thing as a father. Sitting side by side with his little offspring. Robert felt small next to the tiny figure, even though he once acted like a father by donating blood for the boy. "Do you want to say something?" Robert glanced gently at Kenzie. "Yes …." Kenzie nodded. "Tell me, there's no need to be afraid." "Can Uncle take Kenzie home?" The boy's question took Robert by surprise. "Home? Isn't this your house, Kenzie." Robert shifted his sitting position to look more inclined towards his son. "You know that you are now part of this family?" Kenzie lowered his head in response to Robert's question. The boy didn't look happy being by Robert's side or in the middle of the mansion. The big, chattering smile that Robert had seen a long time before was almost gone. "Is there something you want?" Robert, though understanding the boy's wishes, tried to distract Kenzie. The boy shook his head. "Kenzie just wants to go home," he said quietly. Robert sighed, he leaned back against the sofa. The man leaned his head and looked straight ahead. There was a feeling he couldn't understand, but it felt so tight. The child he fought for was finally under his protection, using his surname, getting all the comforts, but not with happiness. Almost a week together, Robert realized that he barely heard the boy's laughter. "Kenzie misses Aunt Rose." The boy began to sob. "Why didn't Aunty pick up kenzie, why isn't she here? Kenzie wants to meet Aunt Rose, wants to meet Grandpa and Dulce." The cry of the little boy who was not even five years old exploded. Her tiny shoulders shook violently. His tears were flowing and the sound of his moans was so heartbreaking for everyone who listened to him. Robert stared at the boy. He had heard the cries of children and the whimper of spoiled children. However, the moans that came out of his little handsome little lips were so evocative. The tears of longing and sadness were so deep, it touched Robert and thought, "Did he cry like this when Ruby was gone forever?" "My son," Robert whispered almost inaudibly. He lifted the boy in his arms. He leaned his tiny head on his sturdy shoulder and stroked Kenzie's hair gently. His instincts as a father worked without him learning. The distress that the child in his arms was currently experiencing touched Robert's heart. "I'll bring her to you," he vowed. "Aunt Rose?" Kenzie raised his head and looked at Robert with tears still in his eyes. "Yes, Aunt Rose. You missed her, didn't you?" The words that Robert said to Kenzie returned a whisper in his heart, 'aren't you the one who misses him more?' "I really, really miss her." "Of course." Robert smiled sincerely. The man then led Kenzie back to the room allotted to him upstairs. The beautiful room and the bed, much more comfortable than the one he lived in, could not fill the void in the boy's heart. "Uncle, why did you adopt me?" An innocent question escaped the tiny lips as soon as Robert laid her on the bed and covered the tiny body with the blanket. "You know what adoption is?" Kenzie nodded innocently in response to Robert's question. "They said that someone would take me as a child, but isn't Kenzie Aunt Rose's child?" "You're Aunt Rose's daughter?" Robert was surprised that Kenzie didn't mention Ruby's name. "Yes." Kenzie nodded firmly. "Kenzie has two moms. Mom Ruby gave birth to Kenzie and Aunt Rose, Mom on paper." Robert was flabbergasted at the boy's words. He couldn't understand why Ruby didn't register the child in her own name. Robert had to breathe a sigh of relief, because he could almost create a scandal if he took the child by force. "If I adopt you, do you know my status?" "Daddy?" said Kenzie innocently. That one word was able to make Robert's heart beat fast. Such a simple word, a series of five letters that he only realized, sounded so beautiful when it was addressed to him by the right person. "Now do you know how to call me?" "Daddy?" Kenzie looked at Robert innocently. "That's right, from now on Kenzie can only call me Daddy, not Uncle anymore." said Robert who did not want this opportunity to be lost. "If you're my daddy, then Aunt Rose is my mommy?" The innocent question made Robert widen. "Then does that mean Aunt Rose will be living here with me, just like Sean had Daddy and Mommy?" The question again made Robert choke. Robert's silence apparently made Kenzie misinterpret it. The boy straightened his back and embraced Robert with his two tiny hands. The tears have turned into a beautiful smile. "Then get Mommy Rose right away, Dad." "Yes …." Robert mumbled softly. The beating in his heart rhymed beautifully, as if a drum added to the beat of the music. The flow in his blood rippled every time that beat called out Rose's name. The enemy as well as the toughest woman, maybe even the most powerful she has ever known. "Go to sleep and have a nice dream. Tomorrow I'll pick up Rose for you." Robert leaned back against Kenzie and straightened the blanket. "Goodnight, Kenzie." Robert landed a deep kiss on his son's forehead. "Goodnight Daddy." Robert smiled gently and headed for the exit. He had just turned the doorknob when he was caught in his tracks by Kenzie's question. "Dad, then who is Mommy Ruby's partner?"
