Chapter 35 Chapter 12.2
I let out a deep sigh. I looked at the people next to me, but they were focused on what they were doing. When I returned to my workstation, they were all silent. No one even tried to talk to me to confirm if what Desmond said was true.
My life is already sad, I don't have any friends here at work. Are they angry at me? After all, they didn't expect me to be their boss's wife. They must think that Desmond's standard is low when it comes to women.
"Heaven," I turned to Kyla when she called me. She seemed embarrassed to me. "What should I call you, Ma'am Heaven, Mrs. Velasquez? I'm sorry, I don't know how to address you by name," she said. I smiled at her.
"Just pretend that you don't know my relationship with Desmond. Just call me Heaven," I answered her, which made her smile.
"It's lunch break, aren't you going to eat yet?" she asked. I looked at the time. I was so occupied with my thoughts that I didn't notice the time.
"Mrs. Velasquez," Kyla and I turned around at the same time when we heard Desmond's voice. He was looking at me with a smile, so I just rolled my eyes. What does he need again?
"I think you'll eat together, I'll go out ahead of you," Kyla said goodbye. I just nodded at her. She even paid her respects to Desmond before passing him. Most of the employees here have already gone out for lunch.
"What?" I asked Desmond sullenly.
"The food has been waiting for you for a while now. Are you going to wait for it to get cold before you eat?" I stood up. My co-workers will surely be distant to me. I won't have anyone to eat with in the canteen, so I had no choice but to go with Desmond.
"Aren't you going to regret it?" I asked him as we walked.
"What should I regret?" he asked back.
"That you revealed our marriage and my pregnancy. What if you're just hurting because of what happened to you and Macie? What if you can still forgive her, won't you regret telling them about us?" I said seriously. Desmond was silent for a moment, so I looked at him.
"Do you think I'm going to leave you for Macie?" he asked me. I didn't answer. I know he knows what I'm saying. "I'll try to forget her," he only answered. I smiled faintly, he's still not sure who he'll choose. I'm not expecting him to choose me and our child. I'll understand him if he chooses Macie. What they had together is no joke, the length of time that Desmond loved her is no joke.
When we arrived at his office, the food was already prepared. He handed me a plate, so I took it. I got some food and then ate. Desmond and I were silent while eating. I was wondering if he was already regretting his decisions.
"Do you have to take vitamins today?" I looked at him because of his question.
"No, I only take vitamins in the morning and afternoon," I answered him.
"Give me your schedule for taking vitamins so I can make sure you take them at the right time." I raised an eyebrow at him. Is he sure? How many times do I have to tell him not to force himself to forget his greatest love.
"Don't force yourself to—"
"If you think I'm rushing myself to forget Macie, you're wrong. I want to do my obligations to you as your husband and to our child. Don't think that Macie has anything to do with everything I'm doing for you," Desmond cut me off. He was looking at me seriously, so I looked away.
I'm nervous for myself. In the past few days that I've been with Desmond, I'm slowly getting closer to him. What if I'm the one who gets hurt? What about my heart? It's difficult to fight against the woman he truly loved.
I'm getting ready for my check-up. I'm excited to see my baby again. Is it big already? I looked at my stomach, I'm three months pregnant, but I still don't have a baby bump. I don't know, I'm excited to see my baby bump. Its conception wasn't planned, but I'm happy that I'm going to be a mother. This is what it feels like when you're going to be a mother.
I went out of my room. I saw Desmond in the living room, waiting for me. I smiled, he's really handsome. His clothes are simple, but they still suit him very well. Even if I put rags on him, he's still handsome.
"Are you ready? Are we leaving?" Desmond asked. I nodded at him. He took my bag, he doesn't want me to carry it even though it's light.
He opened the door for me, so I smiled secretly. Until when will he be like this to me? Until when will I experience his care for me? I watched him go around the car until he got into the driver's seat.
"Can we see the baby's gender yet?" he asked when he started the car.
"If we're just going to look at the ultrasound, it will be difficult to see, but if it's through NIPT, we'll know its gender right away," I answered.
"Then we're going to have the NIPT test done to find out our baby's gender." I looked at him. It's expensive to have NIPT, is he serious? I remembered that their family is a billionaire. What we'll spend when we have the NIPT test is just a small amount for them.
"If that's what you want, we can," I answered him. He smiled at me. When we arrived at the hospital, we went straight to doc's clinic. She had me lie down right away so we could have a transvaginal. Desmond was next to me.
"Doc, are you going to insert that into her?" he asked curiously.
"Yes, her stomach is still small for me to ultrasound her. We need transvaginal so we can see the baby," doc answered. Desmond looked at me, so I laughed at his reaction.
"Will you be okay?" he asked me.
"Of course, I was also surprised at first, but I can't do anything about it. I also want to make sure that the baby is okay and its heartbeat is normal," I answered. I looked at my hand when he held it. I felt my heart beating fast again.
I just focused my attention on the screen, and when I saw our baby, I smiled.
"Is that my baby?" Desmond asked happily. He approached the screen and caressed it as if he could touch our child.
