Chapter 36 Chapter 12.3
It’s moving energetically in my womb. Every time I go for a check-up, it is always awake, so it's fun to see it being active.
"Do you feel it?" Desmond asked while his eyes were still on the screen.
"Not yet," I replied.
"You can feel its movement as early as four months, but often they're five months old before you feel their movement in your womb," Doc said.
"Looks like someone's already practicing their dance moves for T!kT0k," I laughed at what Desmond said because our child is so active. "Hey! Don't laugh!" he even tapped me on the shoulder when I laughed. I couldn't stop laughing, so baby got even more agitated in my womb. "Look at our baby, you're shaking it when you laugh. I think you shouldn't laugh until you give birth. Are you going to beat up my child?" I laughed even more at what he said.
He tried to stop me, but I couldn't. When did he become funny? I know he's not trying to be funny, but I can't help but laugh at what he's saying.
"I said, don't laugh!" I bit my lower lip, but I was still laughing, and even Doc was laughing at us.
"Don't worry, Daddy, baby is safe even if Mommy is laughing. It's better for Mommy to be happy because whatever Mommy feels, baby feels the same," Doc explained. Desmond nodded.
"Should I make you happy every day?" he asked me. Can he make me happy every day?
"It depends on you if you can make me laugh," I replied. After the ultrasound, I was given vitamins, and then we went out.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?" he asked. I was thinking if I had any cravings, but I didn't feel like eating. My taste is very different now than before. I don't want to eat my favorite food anymore.
"Nothing," I replied to him.
"Where do you want to eat?" I just shook my head because I felt full even though I only ate a little earlier. "You can't not eat. I'll look for a restaurant so we can eat before going straight to the company." I just nodded at him.
When he found one, we both got out. I looked at their menus, but I didn't like anything. I just ordered vegetable salad and cold water. It's a waste of food if I don't finish it.
"Is that all you're going to eat?" Desmond asked me.
"I can't force myself. If I eat something I don't like, I'll just throw it all up," Desmond just looked at me. He didn't force me either. When the order arrived, we both ate. I was only eating little by little because even what I ordered, my stomach didn't want to accept. I just ate so my stomach would have something in it. My baby is pitiful if it doesn't have anything to eat.
I forced myself to finish my vegetable salad, and then I finished a glass of water full of ice. I felt like my body was so hot. I can't drink water without ice.
"Are you sure you're not hungry?" Desmond asked me when we got back in the car.
"I'll just tell you if I'm hungry again. I can always buy again so I can eat if I get hungry," I replied to him.
"Just call me when you want to eat something." I just nodded at him.
When night came, I sat on my bed. I was just staring blankly into space. I don't understand myself. I'm not sad, but I feel sad. No one is making me feel bad, but I feel like crying.
I let out a deep sigh. Is this really what it's like when you're pregnant? You'll feel different emotions?
I looked at the door when someone knocked on it. Desmond came in carrying a pillow.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him. He went straight to lie down on my bed.
"I'm going to sleep here first, my aircon broke," he answered.
"Your aircon broke? How can that break? Wasn't that checked just a month ago? Do you want us to call the—"
"Don't, I'm just going to sleep here first. I can't sleep in my room. What about you? Why are you still awake until now?" I raised an eyebrow at him. I looked at the time, it's already ten o'clock at night, but I still don't feel sleepy. I feel like I'm making day into night, and then when it's day, I'm very sleepy in the office.
Desmond got up and then faced me.
"Do you want us to visit your family tomorrow?" he asked. My face suddenly lit up at what he said.
"Are you serious?" I asked to make sure.
"Of course, why not? We haven't visited them since we got married. I also didn't talk to them properly before. I just want them to know that you're okay so they'll worry less about you. I'm sure they're worried about you, especially your dad, because they know we got married because I got you pregnant." I smiled at what he said. I quickly hugged him because of too much joy.
"You can't take back what you said. We're visiting my family tomorrow." He smiled and then nodded at me. Is that why I'm sad now, because I miss my family? I didn't even think of visiting them. I wouldn't have thought of it if Desmond hadn't said it.
Desmond slept in my room. When I woke up the next day, I felt his hand hugging me. I wanted to get up, but I was afraid I might wake him up. I just stared at the ceiling until I didn't realize I had fallen asleep again.
When I woke up, Desmond was no longer in bed. I went down the room and saw him in the kitchen. Cooking our breakfast.
"Looks like you had a good sleep today. Do you want me to sleep next to you every night?" he said with a grin.
"I woke up earlier than you. You were hugging me, so I didn't know how to get up without waking you up," I answered him.
"Don't worry, I'll be next to you again." I rolled my eyes at him. Did he not hear what I said? I just ignored him because I was getting ready. I haven't given them my souvenirs yet when Desmond and I came from South Korea.
