Chapter 132 Chapter 44.3
Chapter 132 Chapter 44.3
My mood was ruined for the entire day, leaving me buying food over and over through Anna since it was the only thing easing my heavy heart. I had no news from Desmond all day because he did not come to my office, nor did I go to his office.
I did not care if he was busy, knowing it would not take him long to visit my office to explain and apologize. If he continued letting his pride win and chose to let me stay angry at him, I would rather choose to raise my children alone, refusing to give him any rights over them even if he begged me.
When the day finally ended, I stepped out of my office, praying I would not see Desmond's face because I might actually hit him with the bag I was holding.
Before the elevator doors closed, I kept looking outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, but my anger only deepened when I did not see him. I was angry and irritated with him, yet I could not stop myself from missing him.
If this was how he was going to treat me, I wished he had never messed with my life in the first place! Getting emotional, I felt like breaking down in tears right inside the elevator, but I held myself back.
I did not want everyone seeing me break down, silently warning Desmond that I would definitely hit his face with my bag if I saw him.
I drew a deep breath to lighten the heavy feeling inside me, and stepping out of the elevator, I walked through the lobby. I just wanted to go home and lock every single entrance Desmond could use, deciding he no longer had any right to come to our house.
“Heaven!” I looked toward the direction of the voice calling my name, spotting Aleena together with Erick. What was going on between those two, and were they seeing each other now?
“Oh, what are you doing here, and why are you together?” I asked them, furrowing my brows.
“We just wanted to invite you out to eat.”
“I do not want to, and if you are just going to make me a third wheel, you two should just eat by yourselves. Why do you even need me, are you two together now?” I answered and asked in irritation, while Erick scratched the back of his neck.
“Not yet, we are still in the getting to know each other phase,” Aleena answered with a smile.
“Did you know this guy asked me out before? Didn't I mention that to you?”
“Yes, I know, but he is not courting you anymore, right? I did not steal him from you either, and I doubt you would hold a grudge against me if we ever end up together.”
“That is no problem for me. Erick, don’t you dare deceive my friend, okay?” I turned to Erick, my voice still devoid of energy.
“Of course, do not worry because I will take care of her. Come with us, my treat.”
“I do not want to,” I quickly declined, knowing I would not be happy even if I went with them.
“What happened to you? Why do you look like that? Did you and Desmond fight?” Aleena asked one question after another, but I did not answer her, simply turning my back on them. Did they really want to turn me into a third wheel? Tsss.
“Heaven, just come with us so you can forget whatever is bothering you right now. Come on, just say yes, so your mind can relax before you even go home.” I paused to think about what Aleena said, realizing that if I went home now and Desmond followed, I might just get even angrier.
I let out a sigh and just agreed to go with the two of them, deciding it was better to eat free food right now than to keep thinking about Desmond.
I got into Erick’s car and stayed silent throughout the whole ride, not knowing where they were taking me right now, but I did not care anymore. I just wanted to get away for a while and rest.
I did not ask them where we were going even as darkness completely consumed our surroundings, choosing to just tag along with them and eat a lot, fearing that if I saw Desmond while hungry, I might punch him in the eye.
After a two-hour drive, our ride finally came to a stop, with Erick getting out first to open the door for Aleena. I gave a faint smile, remembering that was what he always used to do for me.
I was not jealous, just irritated because that was how Desmond and I should be right now, yet he kept making me angry.
Erick opened the door for me as well, and I looked around my surroundings, clueless about where we were. A warm breeze hugged me, and I could hear the sound of waves crashing not far off.
“Where are we?” I finally asked the two of them.
“We are in Batangas, come on,” Aleena answered, making me laugh softly.
“Wow, we are just going to eat, but all the way here in Batangas? A two-hour drive, when there are plenty of delicious restaurants in Manila? Why did you pick this place?” I asked as we walked in, unsure if this was a resort or an open-area restaurant.
“Just follow us,” Aleena said, making me roll my eyes, though I still followed the two of them.
I figured we were at a resort since we were now walking on sand, and the crash of the waves against the shore grew louder. I kept looking around, wondering if we were still heading to a restaurant since we were now standing right in front of the beach, looking as though we were about to watch a proposal because I could clearly see a mini stage filled with decorations.
There were even fairy lights around, making me wonder why we had to walk right through the center when their proposal might start any moment.
“Alee—” I was about to call Aleena, but she suddenly vanished from in front of me, having been right ahead of me earlier, but because I was busy observing my surroundings, I lost track of where they went.
“Aleena!” I yelled upon spotting her, and as I was about to leave the center, she shouted back at me.
“Stay right there! Look straight ahead!” she yelled, and noticing my siblings beside her, I grew confused about what was happening.
I looked straight ahead, where a mini stage stood with a man facing away from me, while I was surrounded by butterfly-shaped lights planted into the sand.
“Love,” I looked at Desmond, who was now on the mini stage, holding a bouquet and smiling sweetly at me.
My heart suddenly beat faster, and my anger toward him seemed to slowly fade away. I thought the three of us were just going to eat, but why was I here now, seemingly about to experience a proposal?
