Chapter 131 Chapter 44.2
Chapter 131 Chapter 44.2
When I arrived at my office, I just burst into tears, feeling deeply hurt and struggling to breathe properly because of the intense anger consuming me. I looked up and wiped away my tears, knowing he could have simply told me the truth instead of making me even angrier. I took a deep breath as the immense heartache made it hard to breathe, recalling how I waited for him last night to knock on our bedroom door, hoping he would tell me the truth, but it seemed he preferred to sleep in the guest room and hide whatever secret he was keeping from me.
For an entire hour, I stared blankly at my office ceiling, thinking Desmond would come by, but an hour passed and he still had not arrived, making me feel that he had no intention of apologizing to me, as if he thought what he was doing was completely fine with me. I felt nauseous again and quickly ran to the restroom, wanting to throw up, but nothing came out since I had not eaten anything yet. I closed my eyes tightly as I vomited yellow bile, feeling my strength completely drain away while clinging tightly to the sink, wondering why I was feeling this way.
I paused to think, trying to remember when I last had my period, but I could not recall due to everything that had happened in my life over the past two months. I swallowed hard as it dawned on me that I might be pregnant, which was not impossible since something had happened between Desmond and me.
I quickly called Anna.
“Why, ma’am? Do you have something for me to do?” she asked upon entering my office.
“Buy me some food and—” I could not bring myself to say what I needed, wondering why I should feel embarrassed about getting pregnant when I was a married woman, realizing I should only feel ashamed if I were pregnant without a husband, so I cleared my throat before speaking again as Anna waited for my response.
“Buy me a pregnancy test as well, because I just want to know if my suspicion is right.”
“OMG! Are you pregnant again, ma’am?!” Anna squealed in excitement, seeming even happier than I was at the possibility.
“We are not sure yet, I just want to check because I noticed I have not gotten my period yet,” I answered her.
“That would be your second baby, ma’am, and having more children is wonderful because your whole house will be so much livelier.”
“Just buy what I asked you to get, as I have no plans of having many children, and do not forget my breakfast because I am already starving,” I ordered her in annoyance.
“You did not eat before coming in, ma’am, do you and sir have a lovers' quarrel?” she pried, prompting me to glare at her. “Sorry, ma’am, I will leave now to get what you asked for,” she quickly said before exiting my office.
She had so many questions, making me feel irritated with everyone right now.
I walked over to the fridge to see if there was anything to eat, but most of what was inside were desserts and ice cream, and I did not want to eat cold food on an empty stomach, fearing it would only make me feel worse.
I simply waited for Anna, having no drive to work today since I probably would not be able to do my job properly while still furious at Desmond. Up until now, he had not come to my office to apologize or tell me what secret he was hiding.
If he still did not tell me the reason behind my anger today, I would not let him enter my house anymore, thinking it would be better for him to just go home to his penthouse rather than giving me a headache and stress.
When the door opened, Anna came in, carrying the food she bought along with a small paper bag containing the pregnancy test.
“Do not tell anyone about this yet since I am not sure, as my period might just be delayed because I have been stressed lately.”
“Yes, ma’am, do you need anything else?”
“Nothing else, go back to your work,” I said, and she nodded before leaving. I went to the restroom, urinated, and tested myself, not waiting for the result to show up yet because I was already so hungry.
I placed the pregnancy test on the table and opened the food Anna bought, feeling my stomach rumble from hunger, resolving to kick Desmond out if he continued to be stubborn, wanting him to stay out of my sight if he was just going to make me angrier.
After eating, I felt my temper cool down a bit, but then I wondered if he truly did not care about me anymore. Knowing I had not eaten this morning yet not even bothering to visit my office to bring me food.
It seemed he was only good at the beginning, and now that I signed the agreement with the Chairman promising never to leave him. He was going to take advantage of that, though signing that agreement did not mean I would fulfill it for the rest of my life.
I could give my child a good life even if he lost his inheritance. So I would not run after that, and I would not allow Desmond to keep treating me this way.
I tried to focus on my work despite still being irritated, and I did not leave my office during lunch break, having Anna deliver my food instead because I did not want to see Desmond.
While eating my lunch, I noticed the pregnancy test I had left there earlier. So I picked it up to check the result, nearly choking on my food when I saw the two lines.
“Seriously?” I uttered in shock before letting out a laugh. Wondering how I could leave him now that we were having a second baby, frustrated at why he could not just tell me whatever he was hiding instead of letting me stay mad at him.
I gripped the pregnancy test tightly out of frustration, mad that I was pregnant again while Desmond was acting like this, wondering if he wanted me to be stressed throughout my entire pregnancy.
I massaged my temples, putting down the pregnancy test to just eat. Realizing that the reason I was so quick-tempered and nauseous was that our intimate moment had borne fruit again, as in our intense passion for each other, we completely forgot to use protection.
“Argh!” I angrily swept the papers off the center table, wondering if it was really that hard for him to tell me what he was hiding, or if he was going to wait for our relationship to get ruined for a second time.
“You are such a pain, Desmond!”
