Chapter 119 Chapter 40.2

Chapter 119 Chapter 40.2
We devoted our time to Daryl for two whole days. Desmond didn't go back to his penthouse either because he stayed with us. Daryl still wasn't comfortable with Desmond, but little by little, the two of them started talking. Throughout the two days we spent going out together, I was the one carrying Daryl, and he stayed in my arms because it seemed he still couldn't fully trust Desmond.
A smile stayed on my lips as I walked into the company. Desmond and I arrived together, and our son was with us too. I no longer had to hide him because Desmond already knew everything.
“All of this belongs to us, sweetheart. Everything you see belongs to our family,” Desmond proudly told our son. Daryl simply looked around him, he still didn't fully understand everything Desmond was saying.
When we reached the executive floor, Desmond and I went our separate ways because our offices were different. I had a lot to do today, and so did he. I was sure I'd finish all my work today because I was in such a good mood.
I kissed my son on the cheek before sitting down in my swivel chair.
“Just stay there, sweetheart, Mommy just has to work,” I told him, and he nodded. Jessica was with me anyway, so she would take care of Daryl while I worked. I couldn't help smiling every time I remembered the wonderful weekend the three of us had spent together. It wasn't only Daryl who enjoyed all the places we visited, Desmond and I enjoyed them too because our family was finally complete.
“Good morning, hello my handsome grandson.” I looked at Mommy Shiermy, she seemed to be having a wonderful day too. I simply smiled at her as she walked over to Daryl.
“How are things between you and Desmond? Have the two of you already talked?” she asked me. My eyes remained fixed on the papers in front of me.
“Yes, Mom, he stayed at the house the whole weekend too. Daryl still isn't comfortable with Desmond, but little by little, he's starting to adjust,” I answered before smiling at her.
“That's good then. I'm so happy for both of you. That's exactly what you should do, fix your family and your relationship.”
“Yes, Mom, it's just funny to think that leaving didn't really bring anything good. In the end, we still fixed our relationship.” I laughed softly at what I had just said.
“I think if there was one good thing that came from your leaving, it was that you had time to heal before you forgave him. It's difficult to forgive right away, especially when you're going through postpartum stress. It's hard being a woman, and we don't easily believe something even when there's already evidence in front of us. If Desmond had found you back then and insisted on explaining everything to you, do you think you would've listened to him and forgiven him?” Mommy Shiermy's words made me think. Would I really have forgiven him if he had found me right away?
I let out a deep sigh, I had been so angry with Desmond back then. I didn't want to see or talk to him anymore, that's why I left. I guess Mommy Shiermy did have a point.
“You're right anyway, Mom. By the way, why did you come here? Do you need something?” I asked.
“Nothing, sweetheart. I heard Daryl was here, so I came to see him. Do you think we can start planning a family dinner now? My family and yours.” I thought about it for a moment. It actually sounded like a wonderful idea. Ever since Desmond and I got married, our families had never sat together at the same dining table.
“I'll talk to Desmond about it, Mom. That's a good idea,” I answered with a smile. She smiled back at me.
After we finished talking, she left right away. My son quietly continued playing. When someone knocked on the door, I looked toward it.
“Come in,” I answered. Scarlett walked in, making my expression turn serious.
“What are you doing here?” I asked. She looked at Daryl, who was busy playing.
“Is he your son?” she asked gently. I stood up and immediately walked over to my son. I didn't know what Scarlett was planning, and I was afraid she might hurt my child.
“Don't worry, I didn't come here to cause trouble. I just wanted to talk to you, Heaven,” she said, turning her attention back to me.
“Jessica, take Daryl and wait outside for a while,” I instructed Jessica. She took Daryl from me, then the two of them walked out. I waited until they had completely left my office before looking back at Scarlett.
“What else do you want to say?” I asked before sitting down, and she did the same.
“Is he yours and Desmond's son?” she asked curiously.
“Is there something else you forgot to tell me?” I asked instead of answering her question. She crossed her legs and leaned back against the sofa.
“I just want to say sorry. Honestly, it was really upsetting to find out that Desmond already had a wife. I've liked Desmond for a long time, and I was the one who asked my dad if he could arrange a marriage between me and Desmond. During all the years Desmond and I worked together as business partners, I never once saw or met you. He never introduced you to me, and every event we attended, I was always the one by his side, never you. Can I ask when you and Desmond got married?”
“It's been three years since Desmond and I got married,” I answered.
“So it's been a long time already, but why weren't you here in the country? I mean, why didn't Desmond introduce you as his wife? Why didn't he introduce you to the public, and why was your wedding private? As far as I knew, Desmond had a long-time girlfriend, so I never imagined there was someone else besides Macie,” she continued curiously. If she only wanted to apologize, then why did she still have so many questions? Was this an interview? Would this really help her move on?
“Do I really need to answer that? Your questions are becoming too personal.”
“I'm just curious, Heaven. Macie was the woman Desmond loved three years ago. Is it possible Desmond married you just to make Macie jealous?” I let out a dry laugh. Was she apologizing, or was she just trying to annoy me?
“If you have nothing else to say, you should leave,” I said seriously. She smirked.
“If he wasn't trying to make Macie jealous, is it possible Desmond married you because you got pregnant?”
“You don't know anything about Desmond's life and mine, Miss Domingo. What matters now is that we chose to fix our family, and we love each other. If you want to know everything, you can interview Macie. She knows a lot about Desmond's life and mine too. I'm sorry, Miss Domingo, but I still have a lot of work to do, so if you don't mind, please leave.” I stood up and returned to my workstation.
“I'm really sorry, Heaven. My apology is sincere. Dad already talked to me too, and he doesn't want me ruining someone else's relationship anymore. I'm sorry if I asked you so many questions. Anyway, congratulations to you and Desmond for fixing your relationship. I'm really sorry again. Our companies will remain business partners, but don't worry because I won't be working with Desmond anymore. I'm sorry for disturbing you. I'll be leaving now,” she said before I looked at her. She turned around and walked out of my office.
At least she accepted quickly that her wedding with Desmond was never going to happen.
