Zac’s POV
“Megan,” I called. She turned her head. Her beautiful face looked perfect in the sunlight. Even though I don’t have feelings for her, I think she’s a woman like no other.
We have the same character and different ambitions as others. She deserves to be the mother of my children. Now it was time for us to part ways. No matter what, she must survive and leave this place. While I will fight to the last breath.
“Zac,” she replied.
I walked closer to her and pulled her body closer to me. I hugged her tightly and kissed her head several times. Her hands hugged me. I could hear her rapid breathing, a sign that she was scared.
“Are you scared?” I asked.
She nodded.
I released the hug, touched her jaw, and looked into her eyes, which were green like sparkling jewels.
“Don’t be afraid. I’ll find a way for you to get out of here. After you get out of this place, go back to your mother’s house,” I said.
She gripped both my hands. While looking into my eyes, she asked, “You’re coming with me, right? We’re going together, right?” she asked.
My lips didn’t move. There were no words I could say to her. Not that I didn’t want to go with her, but the circumstances didn’t allow for the two of us to leave this place together. They were looking for me as the prime suspect, and I was ready to face everything.
“Why are you silent? Say something, please,” she asked.
“Go quickly and wait for me at your mom’s house. And take this bag with you,” I replied.
So, I called one of my men and asked him to give me a red bag that I had filled with a pile of money, jewels, and securities. Then, I covered the top with a pile of clothes so that it wouldn’t arouse suspicion.
“What’s in this bag?” Megan asked in confusion.
“Money and other valuables. Now gather with the other women. If the police ask you about your pregnancy, just say you don’t know who the father is. Understand?” I said. She sobbed with her body shaking.
I knew this time would come. I just didn’t expect it to come this soon. I had prepared myself for separation because there was no safe place for me and Megan, especially for our kid. She needed to get as far away from here as possible and if there was still a chance for me, maybe I could meet and hang out with them someday.
“No! No! I don’t want to go alone. The police have arrested my mom and dad. Now I’m alone and don’t know where to go. Come with me, Zac,” she pleaded as she knelt on the floor. Tears streamed down her face and clothes. Her trembling body and frightened face made it difficult for me to let her go, but then again, I had no choice. Even if there was a choice, we still had to separate. There was no room for the two of us because we were not meant to be together.
“Go. I’m the one they’re looking for. Now wait for me somewhere,” I replied. Then, I called my assistant and asked him to take Megan out of the room and get together with the other women. The police would take them away and it was an excellent opportunity for her to get out of this place.
“Zac!” Megan cried. Two of my men took her away. I turned my face away and stared at the floor. I could still faintly hear her screaming.
“Goodbye, Megan,” I said as I wiped the clear liquid from my eyes, even though it wasn’t much.
“Boss, weapons are ready. We’re waiting for your orders. They’re all outside,” my assistant said.
“Megan is already among the women? Ask those policemen to take them away as far as possible. Then we act,” I replied.
“Yes, she’s already among the women. Then I’ll try to negotiate with them,” my assistant replied.
Our strategy is to trap the police after they have taken the women away from this place. After that, we will fight back with all our might. We won’t give up because we have different laws and principles from those policemen.
From the room on the second floor, through the glass window, I could see the women leaving this place together and I saw Megan among them.
“Goodbye, Megan. Live well. All the treasures I gave you can guarantee your entire life forever,” I said. Then, I turned around and picked up the two weapons that I used when I was on duty against the other syndicates.
“Boss, it’s safe. Give us the signal,” my assistant said.
After observing the situation around the first floor and seeing that only a handful of policemen were there, I gave the signal for all my men to move. They pointed their weapons at the policemen and fired.
Screams and the sound of bullets clinking could be heard echoing everywhere. The policemen who were outside the bar rushed in and I glimpsed them pointing their guns at me. Luckily, I dodged, so their bullets hit the wall.
The police continued to fire until I was cornered and forced to crawl to hide. However, one thing that escaped my notice was that the number of police entering and attacking us was increasing.
I faintly heard police sirens stopping right in front of the bar and the sound of shoes stomping on the floor.
Shit! How to fight them off? We were pressed and couldn’t get out of this place.
I watched as, one by one, my men fell to the floor. Many of them died from bullets. With great difficulty, I tried to crawl to an unused room. I used to store used items there. It seemed like a suitable place to hide. There was nothing else I could rely on. I had to hide.
I heard clomping shoes coming closer. I crawled faster and pushed the warehouse door slowly. I rushed in and closed the door slowly and hid in the darkness.
I saw many policemen carrying long-barreled guns, walking and standing in front of the warehouse. From a hole near the door, I could see everything.
Could this be the end? No, I couldn’t give up.
I slowly looked at the bullets left in my gun. Unfortunately, there were only two bullets left, and I didn’t have any spare bullets with me. It won’t take long for them to find me there. I had to come up with an idea and get out of here. But this warehouse is completely closed with no windows.
And that’s when I quickly felt the door of the warehouse fall on me and many voices and weapons were pointed at me. Shouts and kicks hit my body. I bent down as my hands shielded my face.
I was caught, but I could still fight. I stood up, pointed my gun at them, and I heard the clinking sound of bullets echoing and I felt my body heat and my vision blur.
