Chapter 45: The Most Vengeful

Chapter 45: The Most Vengeful

Victoria looked at Charles's fawning expression and a cold smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Look, this was Charles, the man who had given her life.

When she latched onto someone of higher status, she was the daughter he was proud of. But if she couldn't bring him benefits, then she became a damn bitch who deserved to die.

She crossed her arms and asked Charles, "Do you think marrying into the Ashford family is better than marrying into the Nelson family?"

Charles glanced at the high-end gifts Wayne had brought and nodded, "Of course. The Nelson family can't even compare to the Ashford family."

Victoria asked again, "So do you still want me to transfer Maplewood Hotel to you?"

A smile immediately spread across Charles's face. He changed his tune and said, "Victoria, that's something your mom left you. Naturally it should be yours."

"I just lost my head a bit today."

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you today. Come, let me see if your face hurts from the slap."

Charles had used quite a bit of force when he slapped Victoria, so much so that there was still a clear handprint on her face.

Such late concern was worthless. Victoria didn't accept it.

She turned her face away and looked at Charles as if he were a stranger, and said with extreme displeasure, "When will you give me the remaining shares of Maplewood Hotel?"

Charles quickly said, "Anytime."

Victoria replied, "The sooner the better."

"Also, there are many problems with how Maplewood Hotel is managed. Once the hotel is mine, how I manage it is my business."

Hearing Victoria say this, Charles quickly said, "Fine, I won't interfere as much in the future. But Billy has always been the hotel's general manager. Even if you want to take control of the hotel yourself, you should learn more from Billy."

"Try not to fire him casually. After all, he's our relative."

Victoria let out a cold snort.

According to what she had found out, Billy had embezzled quite a bit of Maplewood Hotel's assets during his years as general manager.

Besides, he was Charles and Jade's trusted confidant. Keeping him by her side would be like having a surveillance camera.

If she continued to employ Billy as the hotel's general manager, that would be absolutely stupid.

She would fire Billy sooner or later, but before firing him, he would have to cough up everything he had stolen from Maplewood Hotel.

Victoria didn't want to break with Charles at this moment.

She was waiting for the shares to be in her hands.

"Alright, I can consider that."

"Also, I don't want others to know that William and I have already registered our marriage."

Hearing Victoria make this request, Charles frowned in confusion.

"Why? Wayne has already come with such fanfare to discuss your wedding date."

Victoria thought for a moment and said, "It's just a discussion. We haven't formally held the wedding yet."

Charles asked again, "Is this your idea?"

Victoria was afraid she couldn't control Charles, so she shook her head and said, "This is my husband's idea."

"You know, he just returned to the country. He has many things to handle. Keeping our marriage hidden benefits him."

When not in William's presence, Victoria said the word "husband" quite smoothly.

Victoria had plans of her own. If more people knew she had married William, then Jade and Sarah would probably ruin Victoria's reputation.

Of course, Charles would also use this solid in-law relationship with the Ashford family to gain benefits.

Victoria always believed her marriage to William was a transaction, one that could bring them both benefits.
Charles thought quietly for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."

His expression showed clear regret.

"So when do you plan to go public? You can't just not have a wedding at all, right?"

Faced with Charles's question, Victoria suddenly remembered William saying he needed a wedding to restore his reputation.

She replied, "We'll have a wedding, and it will be very grand. We'll give everyone a surprise then."

Only then did Charles stop asking questions.

Just then, William walked out of the dining room.

From the moment he entered the Hughes Villa's main hall, he noticed the finger marks on Victoria's face. He had guessed that Victoria's life in the Hughes family wasn't good, but he hadn't expected she would be hit.

William finally found an opportunity to warn Charles.

He said to Charles, "Mr. Hughes."

Charles immediately corrected him with a fawning smile, "You and Victoria have already gotten your marriage certificate. We're all family now. Why call me Mr. Hughes? You should call me Dad."

William didn't respond.

He simply reached out and naturally put his arm around Victoria's shoulder, reminding Charles with a warning tone.

He said, "I don't want to see any more handprints on my wife's face. I'm the type who holds grudges. You understand what I mean, right?"

William's expression was stern. He seemed to have said everything and nothing at the same time.

But this was enough to make Charles feel afraid.

...

At this moment, Sarah was hiding in her bedroom, looking at herself in the mirror and cursing Victoria eight hundred times.

It was because of Victoria's existence that William thought her outfit today was vulgar.

It was also because of Victoria that she had become a laughingstock.

Damn Victoria, so vicious. The slap she landed on her face still burned painfully.

If the Ashford family people hadn't been present, she would have returned that slap to Victoria's face no matter what.

Having been hit, Sarah called Ethan on video with red eyes.

Ethan had just finished his work. As soon as he pressed the answer button, he saw Sarah's face with the handprint on it.

His expression darkened as he asked, "Sarah, who hit you?"

Sarah was very satisfied with Ethan's reaction.

She said tearfully, "It was Victoria. It's my fault for provoking such a vicious person."

"Ethan, it's okay. She only slapped me once."

Hearing this, Ethan's face darkened. Victoria was becoming more and more ill-mannered, even hitting her own family members?

It was all because he had been too indulgent with her before.

She knew he was dating Sarah now, yet she still laid hands on Sarah. Wasn't this a provocation against him?

Without thinking, he said directly, "Don't worry, I'll get revenge for you."

Ethan's statement made Sarah very happy.

To maintain her kind image in front of Ethan, she quickly said, "Ethan, you don't need to get revenge for me. She just slapped me once; it doesn't hurt."

"Besides, she's different now."
