Chapter 44: Theory

Chapter 44: Theory

Jade's words made Wayne's face darken as he was talking to Charles.
Let Ethan marry that vulgar Sarah?
Had the Ashford family's threshold become so easy to cross?

Jade didn't notice Wayne's expression at all. To secure the maximum benefit for Sarah, she kept chattering away in front of Wayne.

"Mr. Ashford, Sarah and Ethan have been together for quite some time now. They really are a perfect match. A few days ago, Steven came to our house to discuss the engagement. There was just a small accident, so we didn't proceed further. Since you're here today, let's revisit the matter again."

Wayne's expression became even worse.

Sure enough, Steven was getting a bit incompetent. The wife he found for himself wasn't great, and now the wife he's finding for Ethan wasn't great either.
What did Steven mean by discussing Sarah and Ethan's engagement with the Hughes family behind his back? He wasn't dead yet, and he still wields the Ashford family's power.

Just as Jade was pressing hard, insisting that Wayne finalize Ethan and Sarah's marriage, William's clear voice rang out from outside the door.

His voice arrived before he did. "Bring up the old matter? Bring up what? Which day Ethan should marry Sarah?"

William's tone was unfriendly and full of authority. When he entered, he was holding a bouquet of blue roses. The moment he saw Victoria, he smiled beautifully. He was already handsome, and since today was the day to announce his engagement to Victoria, he had naturally dressed up. As soon as he entered the hall, all his brilliance shone through at that moment.

Everyone's eyes in the hall focused on him.

He strode up to Victoria and handed her the blue roses.
Victoria was a bit excited. Did William need to put on such a complete act?

"I'm sorry, I waited over half an hour for these blue roses that just arrived by air, so I'm late. I apologize. Please don't be angry."

William deliberately lowered himself in front of Victoria, showing such an endearing attitude full of romance that made all the women present jealous.

Jade and Sarah felt provoked again.

They seriously suspected that the Ashford family's visit today was just to embarrass them.

"William, we're discussing Ethan and Sarah's marriage with Mr. Ashford." Jade spoke to William with a hint of defiance.

William's face darkened, his expression cloudy as he glanced at Jade.

Jade's heart skipped several beats.

The oppressive feeling from this kingly aura made her unable to respond.

"Mrs. Hughes, are you crazy?" William put one hand in his pocket, showing no respect for Jade, directly confronting her.

Jade was speechless.

Was this unfriendly-looking William insulting her?

"I'm going to marry Victoria as my wife, which will make Victoria Ethan's aunt. Now, you want Ethan to marry Sarah, which means Victoria would become Ethan's sister-in-law. "

His face showed frustration. "Isn't this whole situation completely messed up? How are my father and brother ever supposed to face Mr. Hughes again? Mrs. Hughes, if you want to become in-laws with my older brother, you should at least consider my dad's position, right? You insist on making the family relationships so chaotic—if this isn't crazy, what is?"

William laid out this blunt problem directly in front of everyone.

Victoria was amused by his words. She lowered her head and covered her mouth. The satisfaction William's attack on Jade brought her was simply indescribable.

"William, this is a bit confusing. Victoria marrying you and Sarah marrying Ethan—there's no conflict, right? As for the family relationship issue, it's not a big problem."

Jade thought her explanation was reasonable.

But William didn't think so.

He pulled Victoria's hand and stood in front of Jade. "Ethan is my nephew, so Victoria would be his aunt. If Sarah marries Ethan, logically, she should also call Victoria aunt. Come on, let me hear you call her that."

William insisted on making Sarah call Victoria aunt, regardless of everything. This strange move immediately confused everyone.

Victoria was Sarah's half-sister from the same father!

Everyone was so embarrassed they wanted to escape, but William acted as if he didn't notice and continued to challenge Jade.

He added, "You're Sarah's mother. By this logic, tell me, when Victoria sees you in the future, would she still need to call you mother?"

At that moment, Victoria couldn't hold it in anymore and laughed out loud.

She never expected that someone as serious as William would say such ridiculous things.

It was too funny.

Jade's face turned dark with anger.

Sarah was also too confused to couldn't speak.

Wayne was being bothered by Jade, and when this devil William arrived, he completely resolved his predicament.

And William's theory perfectly shut down Jade and Sarah.

As things spiraled further out of control, Charles looked uncomfortable.

He suddenly felt Jade was a bit stupid. Was this the time to bring up Sarah and Ethan's marriage?

He lets out a cough and scolded Jade. "You really have no sense. We're talking about William and Victoria now. Why are you bringing up Sarah? You're just causing trouble. Go check with the kitchen if dinner is ready. We need to keep Mr. Ashford and William for dinner." Charles sent Jade and Sarah away with unpleasant expressions written clearly in their face.

Wayne and William were respectfully invited to the seats of honor.

After settling Wayne and William, Charles pulled Victoria aside with a flattering smile.

He asked Victoria in an unusually gentle tone. "Victoria, tell me, when did you meet William? If I had known you and William were in love, I would never have forced you into that arranged marriage with the Nelson family. William's conditions, his sincerity—the Nelson family can't compare at all. A hundred Jerrys can't be compared to one William."
