Chapter 46: Do You Like Men?
Ethan was getting pretty angry.
What was so different about Victoria?
Aside from becoming more shrewish, what else had changed?
Even if she used some underhanded tactics to latch onto William, so what?
William, who was extremely picky about women, definitely wouldn't sleep with Victoria.
Just the thought of Victoria desperately trying to seduce William felt like someone was stabbing Ethan's heart several times—it hurt terribly.
He let out a cold snort, "Victoria! I won't let her off."
"Sarah, don't worry. No matter how different she becomes, I won't be afraid of her."
Hearing Ethan's statement, Sarah's face lit up with a smile.
She said, "Ethan, I don't want you to get into trouble because of me."
Ethan waved his hand, comforting Sarah, "Be good. She hit you, so she should pay the price."
...
That evening, Wayne and William had dinner at the Hughes Villa. Charles wore a broad smile, flattering Wayne first, and then buttering up William.
Even Victoria got quite a few benefits from it.
When it was time to leave, Charles escorted the Ashford family group to the courtyard. Wayne got into the car first.
Through the car window, he looked at Victoria with a smile and said, "Victoria, I'm getting old. You and William should get along well and give me a grandson soon."
Victoria's face turned red with embarrassment as she nodded obediently.
Seeing Victoria a bit shy, William reached out and put his arm around her shoulder.
"Dad, I heard what you said. Don't worry."
Wayne drove off, very satisfied with Victoria and William's affectionate display.
After seeing Wayne off, Victoria left The Hughes Villa together with William.
In the car, Victoria thanked William, "Thank you for today. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known how to get out of that situation."
William had brought a driver, so sitting in the back seat, he naturally put his arm around Victoria's shoulder. The driver focused on driving, completely unaware of what was happening in the back seat.
William said softly to Victoria, "No need to thank me."
"Those gifts were too expensive. Should I return them to your dad?" Victoria felt a bit reluctant.
On Wayne's first visit, he brought many expensive gifts, including some valuable items. Just giving them to the Hughes family people for Sarah and Jade to squander—she really couldn't bear it.
William said casually, "Return them? No need at all."
"Your dad is a smart man. He won't dare touch the gifts our family sent over. When we have the wedding, he'll return them exactly as they were. Don't worry."
With William's arrangement, Victoria finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Then Victoria asked him, "What about the cooperation contract with Mr. Patterson yesterday? Will he still sign with our Maplewood Hotel?"
Yesterday William had used this to blackmail Victoria for a kiss.
But that waiter ruined his plan, so the kiss never happened.
William felt it was a shame.
However, he believed there was plenty of time ahead.
After thinking it over, he said, "Don't worry, he'll sign. Whenever you need it, just contact me."
Hearing William's words, Victoria was thrilled.
She grabbed William's hand and couldn't help flattering him.
"You're such a good person."
Victoria's compliment left William unable to accept it. He couldn't agree with Victoria's assessment—after all, he was only a good person in front of Victoria.
Just then, William's phone rang. He took it out and saw it was Kyle calling.
Kyle said on the phone, "William, come out for drinks?"
William glanced at Victoria sitting beside him and refused without thinking.
"No."
Kyle got anxious when he heard this.
"William, you have the best alcohol tolerance among us all. How can you refuse?"
"Come on out, it's still early."
William still refused.
He knew clearly which was more attractive to him—alcohol or a woman.
He said, "Not going. My wife is at home, I need to keep her company."
He naturally called Victoria his wife, and Victoria's face turned red again.
Kyle was speechless. He protested to William, "William, how can you do this?"
William looked helpless as he explained, "I have no choice. My wife keeps me on a tight leash. I'm not like you unmarried guys who can play around freely."
"That's it. Stop calling me out for drinks from now on."
Kyle cried out helplessly, "William, don't you love me anymore? Don't you love us anymore?"
Victoria was very close to William, and Kyle's words on the phone clearly reached her ears.
When she heard Kyle say William didn't love him anymore, she immediately thought that perhaps this Kyle calling was William's boyfriend.
No wonder every time she saw Kyle and William, she felt their relationship was overly intimate.
But if they were a same-sex couple, being a bit intimate was normal. It was she and William, this fake married couple, who were acting too convincingly.
William didn't want to listen to Kyle's nonsense anymore and hung up directly.
At that moment, several friends around Kyle asked him, "When did William get married?"
"Yeah, why didn't he tell everyone?"
"Which family's daughter did William marry?"
Faced with everyone's questions, Kyle didn't want to explain. Now that William was married, Kyle had become the friend William was forced to give up.
Whatever, as long as William was happy, he didn't care.
Meanwhile, William and Victoria also arrived at William's villa.
After getting out of the car, the driver left. Victoria turned to ask William, "Aren't you going out?"
William was confused, "At this hour, what reason would I have to go out?"
Victoria quietly reminded him, "Wasn't the person who just called your boyfriend? Don't you need to go out and keep him company?"
The word "boyfriend" made William frown. He seemed to understand what Victoria meant.
He asked Victoria, "You think Kyle is my boyfriend?"
Victoria was puzzled. She rubbed her head, thought for a moment, then asked, "Isn't he? Your relationship seems pretty intimate!"
"Besides, you told me you like men."
"Go ahead, don't keep him waiting. If you're worried about others knowing, you can take a ride-share out. It's very convenient."
Faced with such an understanding Victoria, William felt like he had shot himself in the foot.
If he'd known Victoria was this naive, he never would have claimed to be gay.
He cleared his throat and explained, "I do like men, but I don't like Kyle's type."
"I prefer the more alluring type."
