Chapter 33: Eunice
I wanted to punch Kyle Kim’s face. He’s been trying to hold my hand even though I was so adamant in letting him know that I don’t want to.
I hated how I accidentally saw him in a café I stopped over before going to school. I regretted telling Nanette that she could go ahead of me.
“Hey,” he cockily said as he saw me ordering coffee on the counter.
I decided to ignore him and just focused on ordering but when I was about to pay for my coffee, he handed his card onto the cashier. “Use this for her coffee,” he said.
I turned to him, annoyed at what he did. “I can pay for that.”
He shrugged. “I know.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Then why did you have to pay for it?” My voice was almost rising because I am not in the best mood this morning and yet I have to face this asshole.
“Because I can,” he replied simply.
I rolled my eyes and glanced back at the cashier who called me out. She said I could just wait for my cup at the claiming area.
I walked past Kyle Kim and walked over to the claiming area. I just decided to not argue with this brute. I don’t want to waste more time and energy in dealing with him.
I am exhausted. I don’t even think I got a wink of sleep.
All I could think was Josiah’s back with Hannah and I acted like a fool thinking that he would choose me over her.
He wouldn’t.
Josiah and Hannah have been together for so long. Who am I for him to choose over his love for her? I am nothing. He just knew me because he was going to marry me…by force.
I was so stupid to thinking he would love me more than Hannah. Damn.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my hurting heart. I wanted to cry last night but tears can’t come out. Or maybe I just ran out of tears? Maybe that’s for the better.
If I shed no tears, I won’t show my weakness.
I don’t want to be weak to anyone. I don’t want to be weak for anyone. Because if I did, I would just give them the power over me.
“Your coffee,” Kyle Kim said as he handed me my cup.
I looked at him and saw him watching me carefully. Damn. He saw me spacing out.
I took the cup and thanked him before walking away from the coffee shop. I looked at my wrist watch and noticed that I am too early for school. I have time to walk from here.
That’s good for me because I would need that time to think of the next thing I am going to do. For sure, I don’t want Josiah to see how it affected me so much. I want him to see that I don’t care whatever her does.
I’m going to show him how strong I am—how I won’t depend on someone, how I won’t make someone think that I can be controlled.
I cannot be controlled by anyone. I cannot be owned by anyone.
“Hey,” I stopped when I heard Kyle Kim calling me.
I looked at the direction of his voice and saw him smiling at me while driving his car to my own pace. I narrowed my eyes at him.
“What do you want?” I asked him.
He grinned widely. “Come on. Let’s go to school together.” He said.
I raised my brow and stopped on my tracks. “I want to walk,” I told him.
He nodded. “Right, I’ll walk with you then.” He said as he continued to drive his car slowly.
I could hear honks from the other vehicles because of the way he is being a trouble with them.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “You don’t have to!” I scolded him and pointed at the number of burdened vehicles behind him. “Go ahead and stop being a nuisance on the road!”
But he was relentless. He shook his head and continued on what he is doing despite telling him go and drive away.
“I won’t stop until you come with me,” he said with finality. He was already resolute that he will keep going that pace if I don’t ride with him.
More honks can be heard and he’s already causing a huge commotion on the street. Drivers are even yelling at him now but he doesn’t seem to care.
People are looking our way and I couldn’t think of anything to do because of all the eyes on me.
“Come on, Eunice!” Kyle Kim yelled at me with a huge grin on his face.
I cursed him out loud before getting inside his car. He was smiling in triumph when he saw me buckling my seatbelts. I glared at him but it was no use.
He looks so elated.
“I hate you,” I breathed.
He chuckled. “Well, sorry if you feel that way, Eunice. I like you,” he replied coolly.
I glared at him one more time before looking out the window. Damn. I just want this day to be over already!

Josiah’s eyes looked confused when he met me. He walked over to where Kyle Kim and I were standing. Apparently, he just arrived at school, too.
“Why are you with him?” Josiah’s voice dripped like acid when he asked me that question.
I stared at him and was about to answer when Kyle Kim butted in. “You know him, baby?” he asked.
I nodded and looked at Josiah as I thought of an excuse before looking back at Kyle Kim. “Yeah, he’s someone I met at a party.”
I can see Josiah scowling at me from my periphery. “Are you serious?” he asked in disbelief.
“Is he bothering you?” Kyle Kim asked.
I shook my head. “No,” I smiled. “Let’s go?” I asked Kyle Kim.
He nodded and took my hand. Damn, I want to punch him right now for touching me. “Sure, baby,” he said before pulling me with him.
I looked back at Josiah and saw him watching us with anger written all over his face. I bit my lip and looked away.
This is for the best. That’s all I am thinking in my head.
Kyle Kim kept talking as we were walking towards the halls of campus. I can’t even make myself listen to him because I don’t even have any interest in what he says.
And besides, my mind is filled with thoughts of Josiah being left there. I can’t unsee the anger and frustration in his when he saw me walk away from him with Kyle Kim.
I shook my head. Why am I even thinking about him? I shouldn’t. I shouldn’t care about what he feels. It’s not like he cares about my feelings too.
But then, I didn’t want to walk around the corridors while holding Kyle Kim’s hand.
I tried to yank my hand away from his but his grip was strong. He looked at me and smirked. “Let me just walk you to your room,” he said as he intertwined his fingers with mine.
I can hear some students gasp and gossip about what they are seeing. I could not blame them though. Yesterday, I was with Josiah but now I am with a different man.
Kyle Kim insisted on walking me to the classroom even though I kept telling him no.
I took a deep breath when he held my elbow before I could even enter the room. I looked at him, glaring. “What?!” I hissed.
He smirked and cocked his head to the side. “Do you like Josiah?” he asked me.
I pursed my lips in a thin line. I can’t believe my heart is beating so loud with just the mere mention of his name. “No,” I replied in conviction.
Kyle Kim raised his brow. “Really?” he asked in a mocking tone.
I glared at him. “I don’t like him.” I said. “What’s your business in who I like anyway?”
He bit his lower lip and smiled. Damn, I want to punch his jaw so much. “I’m just surveying my competition.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “There is no competition.”
He nodded but his mocking look was still on me. “I hope so, baby, because I don’t lose. I never lose when it comes to getting what I want.”
His voice is laced with menace and darkness. His eyes are on mine and are seemingly saying how he is determined for this. He’s vicious and evil. I don’t have to see through him. I’ve seen a lot of guys like him.
He pulled me close to him and smiled as he caressed my face. “See you at lunch, baby,” he said before planting a kiss on my cheek.
I pushed him away and he just gave me his jerk look. “Asshole,” I told him and he just laughed. I glared at him and was about to punch him but he covered my fist with his palm.
He leaned closer to my ear. “You’ll see, baby. You’ll end up with me,” he whispered before leaving me in anger.
Damn it!
