Chapter 58
Evelyn’s POV
“Someone else is here to greet you.” Lucien told me seriously. He stepped away from me, giving space the person to show up.
My face darkened instantly. Seth.
I looked back at Lucien, unable to hide my displeasure. “Why did you bring him here?” He was my best friend; he knows I don’t want to see Seth or have anything to do with him at all.
Lucien sighed. “I’m sorry Eve, he wants to apologize. You should hear him out.” With that he stepped away, leaving me with the last man I wanted to see.
Seth could barely meet my eyes. “Eve—”
“You really don’t need to apologize or anything.” I just wanted him gone, his presence alone makes me very uncomfortable.
Seth’s face fell. “I was wrong.” His voice was barely a whisper. “I understand that you don’t want to see me, and maybe you won’t even want to forgive me. I haven’t even forgiven myself yet.”
I didn’t know what he was apologizing for, I just watched him silently, moving my weight from one leg to the other.
“Eve, please let me explain to you properly and apologize for everything I have done, you deserve that much.”
His eyes bored into mine. So intense and pained.
I swallowed hardly. “Alright, go on then.” My voice sounded a bit harsh, but I didn’t care enough to try to soften it. A still had a ride to catch.
He sighed deeply, slightly turning away. A conflicted expression appearing on his face.
“My parents wanted me to marry Edina, it was for the good of the Pack. I couldn’t bring myself to tell you then, but I had to make that choice. I’m sorry I did all those things to hurt you, I just needed you to leave. I couldn’t bring myself to let my parents hurt you because of me.”
My heart tightened lightly, but I pushed that feeling away instantly. I could no longer feel sorry for him even if I wanted to.
Seth, seeing I wasn’t going to say anything, scratched his head and continued. “I couldn’t bare the thought that you moved on, and not with my uncle at least. I…. guess I lost my mind.”
“I am sorry for how I treated you at my place, it was a very shitty thing to do.” His voice was low.
“It sure was.” I muttered. “Its alright. I have forgiven you.”
The truth was that I never had anything against him, he was in the past, I didn’t have any feelings for him anymore. I felt a lot better that he left me after I met Damon, I realized just what true love felt like.
Seth smiled, so broadly that I feared his lips were going to feel pain. Then he quickly pulled me into an unexpected hug.
I froze for a second, and then I struggled against his hold. He released me immediately.
“I’m sorry, I got carried away for a bit. Thank you so much Eve.”
I didn’t quite know what he was thanking me for, or why his eyes were glistering with smiles.
“Yeah, whatever. I have to go now.” I turned, but he held my hand.
“We can still be friends, right? For old times’ sake?” He asked, his eyes wide with anticipation.
We used to be good friends, right before we found out we were mates. It was through him that I met Lucien, and after he broke my heart, Lucien became my safe haven.
“Sure.” I said dryly, but he grinned excitedly.
“Let me hug you goodbye, we will miss you.” He said and I reluctantly agreed. But just as our bodies touched, a cold voice broke out right behind me.
“Evelyn.”
I didn’t need to turn to know who it was, the voice was enough to send cold shivers down my spine. But I turned anyway, my heart skipping a beat as soon as I saw the cold expression on his face.
He had even called me by my name, and not some pet name.
Damon.
Seth spoke up immediately. “We just wanted to say goodbye to her uncle, its nothing more.”
I could tell he wanted to defend me, but that didn’t make things better, because Damon was already furious.
He turned without another word and disappeared on shore. I quickly turned and waved goodbyes to the two guys and rushed after him.
He was faster, a lot faster than usual. As soon as I got onboard, I could no longer find him in the very large yacht space.
My heart tightened, racing with an intensity that made me feel faint. Just where has he gone this time.
I began to look for him, but then I stumbled upon Lily. She was seriously sipping wine and dancing to the music that was loudly playing. I rolled my eyes at how easily comfortable she got.
“Lily,” I called out, trying to get her attention. “Have you seen Damon?”
Lily looked at me, her eyes looked a bit unfocused, and then she grinned. She was clearly drunk. I smacked my forehead. Already?
“You mean the Alpha?” Her cheeks were already red with a brush, and her eyes were still unfocused.
Yeah, guess I ended up asking the wrong person about it.
“You should sit down Lily, you are drunk.” I warned her, half dragging her to a safe spot. Lily could be very destructive when she is drunk, and can cause trouble.
At this rate, my greatest fear was that she would fall off shore, and no one would even notice it.
“I am not drunk.” She pouted; her eyes barely open.
I knew she was excited, but why was she already drinking. That was so unlike her.
“I hear you.” I dragged her with me looking for the best place to lay her down, a needed a bed, and maybe some ropes to tie how down.
Just then, a figure appeared before us. It was Beta Dylan.
His eyes moved from me to Lily, and a dark look appeared on his face.
“Dylan, thank God. Lily is so drunk; is there a place I can lay her down to rest.” I could barely manage her weight; she was too heavy.
Dylan looked distracted; his eyes fixed on Lily with a look I couldn’t fathom. I frowned at his strange behaviour.
“Dylan?”
He turned to look at me and said in a chill voice. “I will take her Luna; the Alpha wants to see you now.”
My heart skipped a beat.
