Chapter 57
Evelyn’s POV
“You think I am ever going to leave you alone, that’s absurd.” Lily rolled her eyes dramatically, but the smile tugging at the corner of her lips were unmistakable.
“Oh my God.” I hugged her tightly in happiness.
“Yeah, we still need to go now, unless you aren’t tired of being in this pack still.” She was teasing me, but yet it was enough to quickly get me untangled from her. That’s right, I didn’t even want to stay one more day here, as long as I have my people with me.
As we dragged our bags out, handing them over the servants to take them out, I couldn’t help but think about Lucien.
We weren’t on talking terms anymore, at least not as we used to, after he confessed his feelings for me and I turned him down.
I missed him, a whole lot.
A nice SUV was waiting for us outside the Pack house, and we got in immediately. I turned to Lily who was busy making herself comfortable, and blushing hard for some strange reason.
“Sorry we are late.” She sounded strangely sweet. I stared at her, wondering what the hell was wrong with her.
The driver turned out to be Damon’s beta, Dylan, he smiled at us from the rear-view mirror before he began driving out.
We got to shore soon, a space I hadn’t even known existed until we stepped out of the car and headed for the big private yacht, I still didn’t know existed.
“Oh. My. God.” Lily’s overly excited voice broke through the silence as we watched the yacht before us. This was just so beautiful.
“Oh my God, I am so jealous right now.” She screeched, rushing towards the yacht as tough waiting just one more minute will destroy her plans of going on it.
I looked around for Damon, but he was no where to be found. I suck in a breath, the feeling of sadness slowly overwhelming me.
“Luna, you should go onboard.” Dylan’s voice was soft behind me, breaking through my line of thoughts. I turned to look at him, he looked calm and almost different from the once reckless Beta who had once followed me around, and even threatened me.
“Have you seen Damon?” I needed to see him, it suddenly felt like he was avoiding me. Maybe I was just being delusional, afterall I was the one who slammed the door last night. Oh Goddess.
Dylan looked around. “The Alpha should be here somewhere; we have to leave in few minutes anyway.”
That was definitely not the response I wanted. It did nothing to lighten my mood in anyway. I sighed and nodded.
By this time, Lily have fully disappeared into the yacht, as though she owned it. It was almost laughable that she was getting easily familiarized with this new identity more than I am.
Dylan carried our bags as though it weighed nothing, and headed straight for the deck, but some other guys came out and helped with the bags, and soon the disappeared from sight too.
I sighed deeply; my eyes drawn to my feet. I wanted to move, to join the others up the shore, but my eyes kept returning to the entrance. But I couldn’t help the disappointment that filled my heart.
Taking a deep breath. There is no regrets, none at all.
“Hey, are you coming or not.” It was Lily, she was calling out from the yacht, waving frantically, but I could almost see the impatience in her face.
“I’m coming.” I called back, and began walking towards the yacht. Once again, I looked above my shoulder and still nothing. It wasn’t worth the wait, he wasn’t coming.
I will not be coming back to this Pack again, and he didn’t even think it necessary to say goodbye. I felt bitter, terribly so.
No one had come from the Pack to even say goodbye to us, even Alpha Morgan didn’t even pretend to care, he simply didn’t show up. It isn’t as though I expect anything from him though, I have always known who he was.
I am reminded the harsh truth that I had no one, no one who truly cared about me, and someone who will feel sad if I am gone, that was all too evident now.
“Eve.” A voice called out behind me, breaking through my line of thoughts.
I froze at my spot, my heart pounding. I slowly turned to see the person who I called me, and there I found myself staring into Lucien’s eyes.
My lips stretched; my eyes wailed up with tears. “You came?” My voice was barely a whisper, shaking slightly as I stared into his eyes.
He had a sad expression on his face. For someone who doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve, this was a welcome development.
He nodded lightly, his eyes dim. “You are leaving.” His voice sounded a little too husky, and I nodded.
We both stared at each other, and then his lips stretched a little, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. “So, you made your choice then.” The same faint husky voice.
I nodded again. “I love him.” For one thing, I want my friend to be happy for me too, to really be happy for me.
He smiled again. “Does he make you happy?” I nodded again. That was not up for debate, I am happiest whenever I am with him.
He fell silent for a minute, then, he slowly reached out and lightly stroked my hair. “I will miss you.” His voice held no weight. “You will call me, right?”
I nodded, tears gathering under my eyes.
“Be happy. Take care of yourself.” He pulled me into a hug, which barely lasted before he pulled away.
I nodded, wiping away the tears. I smiled at him, feeling a lot lighter than I felt before. Now I can leave without regrets.
“Thank you, Lucien.”
He patted my hair again gently. “Someone else wanted to say goodbye to you.” He told me, and as soon as I saw who it was, the smile disappeared from my face.
