Chapter 53
Chapter 53
Evelyn’s POV
My lips trembled slightly, as the realization of he was trying to do dawn on me. If he did mask his bite over Damon’s mark, then the bond would be broken; I sure as hell don’t want to know what would happen if he does it.
“Seth, please you are not thinking straight.” I whispered to him gently, as soon as I realized that harsh words were not getting anywhere. He was very aggrieved right now, and he looked so determined to mask his bite on me.
My hands shook as I gently pushed against his chest, trying to get him away from me, but to no avail. Seth laughed, a short mirthless laughter that sent shivers down my spine.
“I am not thinking straight? Of course not, if I can’t have no, no one else can.” He said harshly, gently bringing his fangs out.
“Seth, alright, lets talk about this okay. You shouldn’t make hasty decisions. Don’t you imagine what your mother will say if you do this, she doesn’t like me, you of all people know that.” I was basically using every tactic I could imagine as this time, my heart was already pounding so hard in my chest, and my emotions were all over the place.
Emotions flickered in his eyes, and for a moment his fangs went back in. I suck in a breath I didn’t even realize I was holding back in. He didn’t move, but he was clearly distracted, seemingly deep in thoughts. It was clear I had struck a chord, and somehow, I knew if I wanted to get out of here safe, then I should probably keep up the fearless attitude. Alpha wolves had a tendency to thread on weaker wolves’ fears. If he noticed I was afraid of him, he will definitely try to do something worse.
“Seth, forcing yourself on me would not benefit any of us. I have forgiven you for what you did, but I cannot be with you. Can’t you see that?” I continued, praying deeply that this resolve worked.
His brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed. “No, I can’t let my mom push you away again. I love you Eve, I will fight to have you by myside.” He suddenly responded, his eyes tightening with a resolve that scared me.
I suck in a breath in exasperation. Damn, this was definitely not going as planned.
I smiled at him, “Seth, what will you do then? Fight your mom, or deny your position as the next alpha of this Pack to be with me? C’mon Seth, its not worth it. Let it go.” I whispered to him gently, cupping his cheek as I said this.
He closed his eyes, burrowing closer to my touch in a way that made my heart skip a beat. “I don’t want to choose Eve, I really don’t.” He sounded hurt, and still held unto my hands as though they were a piece of treasure he was unwilling to lose.
I swallowed and looked away. I had to find a way to get him to freely let me go without pushing to mark me. I took a deep breath and told him calmly.
“We can be good friends, we don’t have to be together, but we can always remain friends like we used to, how about that?”
His eyes snapped open, and for a moment I stared into his eyes, his grey eyes suddenly going dark with precision.
“I don’t want to be just friends with you Evelyn, it would never work.” He replied. I rolled my eyes at that, not able to hold onto my composure again.
“You should have thought about that when you clearly chose Edina over me. You said I couldn’t offer you anything, please Seth, I really don’t have the strength to deal with this now.” And just like that, we were back were we started, where I was angry, and he was going to do everything to make me his, including marking me.
“You are never going to forgive me for that, are you?” His voice sounded so hurt, and laced with disbelief. It took everything in me not to stick out my tongue at him.
“Would you have forgiven me if I did that to you?” I threw back at him, holding his gaze with a hard cold stare.
His gaze faltered, and for the first time he released me. “I already said I’m sorry Eve, you are being mean for bringing that up again.” He sounded so hurt right now, as though I had been the one who cheated on him.
“Mean? If you haven’t been acting like a spoilt brat none of that would have happened. This is enough for today.” I told him sternly and pushed past him.
He yanked me back into his embrace, holding me to his body tightly. I struggled, trying to get away from him, but his hold only seemed to tighten around me.
“Please, let me just hold you for a minute, I have missed you.” He whispered, his voice soft and gentle.
I bit my lower lip and tried to get out of his hold, but he only tightened his hold on me.
“Just one hug and I promise I won’t bother you again.” He whispered, tightening his hold on me. I stuck in a breath, looking away as I forced myself to remain calm. My heart suddenly felt heavy, just too heavy as a wave of sadness I still can’t explain hit me hard.
“I am sorry.” He whispered against my shoulder, but I didn’t respond, I couldn’t respond. I still didn’t understand why I felt this sad all of a sudden. Surely, I don’t feel bad for pushing Seth off, there must be something else happening.
“I’m sorry I hurt you in the past when all you did was love me. Let me make it up to you.” He whispered again, and I sighed.
“You don’t have to Seth; I have already forgiven you.” I told him, forcing a smile to my face.
He swallowed lightly and then nodded. “I love you.” He whispered again and I sighed.
Just then, the door suddenly opened and a cold voice echoed right behind me.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?”
I turned swiftly, and my eyes met with Damon’s, he looked………. Furious.
