Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Evelyn’s POV
The room suddenly felt so stuffy, especially when he stepped into the room. Suddenly, I realized just how small the room was.
“Why are you here Seth?” I still couldn’t believe he came after me, I dreaded the thought of being alone with him in the same room.
He croaked an eyebrow at me, a mischievous smile playing at his lips. “What do you mean, I just wanted to see you. Your…… my uncle seemed to be everywhere around you; I couldn’t even get a chance to talk to you; but thankfully you left.” He said taking another step closer to me, while I took a step back.
Funny how he refused to call Damon my mate. He preferred calling him, ‘his uncle’ as though the thought of him being my mate was a crime.
“I didn’t come here for you, and I don’t want to be here with you. Please leave.” I said through gritted teeth. I wondered what he had up his sleeves this time around. The thought of him telling me to leave my mate, just few days to my mating ceremony suddenly came to my mind, and I felt even more uncomfortable.
Seth’s eyes darkened. “Eve, I know you are angry with me, but please we really need to talk about this, alright? Let bygones be bygones.” He whispered, his eyes slightly showing his emotions.
I scoffed, not able to hold in my irritation. “I have nothing to talk with you about Seth, can you please stop. Stop bothering me.” I know I sounded harsh, but Seth was never one to take no for an answer, not when it had something to do with his ego.
“Eve, please. I still love you,” he took a step closer, causing me to back up further, until I was almost pressed against the wall. “I love you Evelyn, I mean it.” He whispered, his eyes suddenly growing misty as he said those words, that once used to move my heart, but now, it felt like water being poured against a stone.
I scoffed, unable to hold in my irritation. “Really, so you cheat on the one you love? Is that your definition of love? How pathetic.”
He suddenly gripped my shoulders, his hands tightening slightly as he turned desperate. “Eve, I didn’t plan for any of that to happen. I don’t love Edina, it was just for party politics, that was why it happened. I love you Eve, you are my mate.” He said roughly, his words causing my anger to grow even further.
I pushed him away, my hands shaking with the need to slap him across his face. How dare him, did he think I was some push over or something? “I am not your mate Seth; you should stop deceiving yourself. I am Damon’s mate, your uncle, which means I am now your aunt, you should respect that.” I warned, suddenly finding pleasure in reminding him of his place.
His eyes darkened, and his hands which were once gripping my shoulders tightly fell back to his side. His eyes fell and his lips trembled lightly. “Eve, I know you are angry with me, but I am sorry. I can’t stop thinking about you, you are the only one for me, I want you back. Please.” He pleaded, almost sounding like a spoilt child.
I scoffed lightly, folding my arms under my chest. “You want me back? What would happen to Edina then, are you going to push her away now and break her heart if I return to you?” I asked him coldly, hating how he sounded as though he was already on the edge of breaking, as though I was dishing out heartbreak to him, when he was the one who had broken my heart so many times that I lost count.
He paused, his eyes narrowing as though he was desperately searching for answers. I almost laughed out loud at the indecision I saw in his face, not that I would return to him even if he begged, I just wanted him to see why the two of us will never work.
“Yes, I will break up with her.” He suddenly said, cutting through my line of thoughts. My jaw tightened, and his hands balled into fists. How easy it was for him to push a woman over for another.
“You must enjoy pushing women around, don’t you? I mean I can still remember when you chose Edina over me, and now you are willing to break up with her for me. Are you even listening to yourself? How on earth are you going to make a good leader if you keep being such an indecisive manipulator?” My voice was hard, and his gaze darkened.
For a moment, I feared he will react harshly, but then he turned away, as though he was barely restricting himself.
“You shouldn’t trust my uncle, I know him. He is not who you think he is.” He said coldly, his jaw tightly clenched as though he was imagining punching his uncle’s face.
“And what about you, are you to be trusted?”
“Evelyn, listen to me. My uncle killed his own father, he has no care about his family, he would not hesitate to push you under if he has something to care about, he is not capable of love. He doesn’t love you enough to care.” He said seriously.
For a moment, my heart skipped a beat. I couldn’t quite explain if it was from fear or something else, but I just stood there staring at him. I swallowed hard moments after, slowly recollecting my thoughts.
“Its funny how that description sounds so much like you. Anyway, he isn’t like that. Again, we are already mated and I have been marked by him, so you should get over that idea of getting me back.” I tried to walk past him and return to the group. It was clearly safer to be out there with them throwing daggers at me, than to be alone with Seth.
Suddenly, he dragged me back and pushed me against the wall. He pinned me there, as I felt his hot breath fanning my neck, the place where Damon had marked me.
I suddenly realized what he was trying to do, and my whole body went cold, as a new wave of fear took over me. I began to struggle, trying to push him away, but his grip on me only tightened.
“All I have to do is to place my mark against his, then you will become mine.” He whispered gently, and my heart began pounding, furiously.
