Evelyn’s POV
I wouldn’t like it, why did their words suddenly make me want to find a whole to crawl in. I looked from Lucien to Lily, hating how similar they both seemed to look right now, as they looked from each other and then back at me. Gosh, this is making me too nervous.
“Can you guys please talk; I am already feeling nauseous as it is now.” I told them with an exhausted sigh.
“Eve, what is your relationship with the Alpha’s older brother?” Lucien asked suddenly with a tone that left me both cold and hot. They were both staring at me now, with those searching questioning glances that made me forget where I stood at times.
“Not before you tell me what everyone is saying.” I replied, settling into my dressing chair which was facing them on the bed where they both sat together.
“Okay, well you know how the she wolves here can be. Some are saying you seduced Alpha Damon as soon as you saw him, some said they saw you alone with him before that……. you know what I mean. Overall, they all seem to blame you, some called you a plotting manic, while others said that it must have been the reason Seth broke up with you. Among others, its too much to keep up with all the rumours.” Lily said in a rush, and after that, her cheeks turned red and she fixated her gaze on her hands, as though blaming herself for saying too much at once.
My jaw fell open, and my throat felt too dry to make even a sound. I looked from Lily to Lucien, and realized I couldn’t say a word. Why was I surprised? This was not the first time they said shit about me. On the contrary, they made it a must do to always say something bad about me, but why did it still hurt so much.
I let out a tight throaty laugh finally, sinking further into my seat. I felt Lily and Lucien’s gazes burning holes into my head, but I didn’t look at them, I kept laughing until I eventually became tired of laughing.
“Don’t you think its funny, how everyone is so quick to conclude on matters that concerns me, and somehow I always end up being the wicked and evil bitch in all the matters.” I told them in expiration, but none of them spoke. I stood up, unable to hold back my rage.
“I mean, everyone saw what happened right, how Edina tried to throw me off that building, and yet this was all they could say about me?”
“I think its best not to think about any of that Eve, we’ve known the kind of persons they are, why would they change now?” Lucien reassured me, but his words did nothing to make me feel better.
I often tried to ignore it and all, but it was obvious that they all hated me, for reasons way beyond my control.
I sank back into my seat tiredly, and let out a hard huff. Why was I being bothered about any of these anyway, the deed is already done.
“But really Eve, what’s your relationship with Alpha Damon? Everyone seems to think you somehow got him to follow you around. They said you were seen with him this morning, and his beta too.” Lily was above curious.
Lucien’s eyes were also on me, and I remembered that he had seen us in that contradictory situation.
“I…….. I don’t know really, it’s a lot to take in.” I replied, already feeling uncomfortable with how the whole thing was turning.
“You know you can tell us anything, we wouldn’t judge you.” Lily said calmly, but Lucien cut in too.
“You don’t have to tell us really, I mean you have your own right to privacy.” He said.
Lily glared at him for saying that, but having no way to cut him out, she simply nodded to what he said.
I sighed again and rubbed my forehead. “Guys, I don’t know alright. He said I am his mate and all.” I told them quickly.
I waited for their reaction, but when I heard nothing, I looked up to see Lily’s eyes as wide as saucers, while Lucien’s eyes though surprised, held a tiny bit of sadness in them.
Lily’s opened her mouth to speak, but shut them. “Wait, what?” She asked, her eyes as wide as saucers as she looked at me. “You are Alpha Damon’s mate?” She asked, and all I did was shrug.
Suddenly, she let out a loud screech, throwing her self off the bed and jumping around in happiness. I was stunned, both Lucien and I looked at her as though she had lost her mind.
“What, so you got selected Eve, this is such great news. We have to celebrate it.” She said in excitement.
I still haven’t gotten the gist yet. I looked at her seriously and tried to stop her. “Lily, remember who he is? I mean, what is so great about being his mate?” I asked her seriously, but then she looked at me as though I have lost my mind.
