CHAPTER FIFTY
LIAM POV.
I had entered just as soon as a man had left. Judging by his dressing, I could tell he must be the lawyer. Seeing him leave, I was rest assured that the whole inheritance thing was done.
I thought I had come really early, which made me stay out a bit, not ringing the bell. I didn't want her frowning and getting angry for coming early.
I already pissed her this morning and I was trying to avoid pissing her off the second time.
Heading up, I realized she wasn't alone, they were voices, hers and a really familiar one, which led me to their direction.
The more I got closer, the more clearly I could hear their words and the more my blood boiled.
I instantly had the urge to deal with her, not giving her and her nasty daughter, wanting to remind them of their place.
"Answer me," I yelled, increasing the power in my hand. "Now listen, if you dare to touch, as little as a hair on her head and as much as reaching my child, I swear, I will give you the worst death you could ever imagine," I threatened.
"I don't care who your new ally is, if he isn't a coward, why don't he show himself to me?" I yelled before finally letting go.
"Get out, or things will get ugly,"I ordered, knowing fully well that she was still catching her breath, yet that didn't stop her from rushing out of the house ahead of her daughters.
When we were finally alone, all the anger in me suddenly ceased to exist, as she calmly looked at me.
"Are you hurt?" I asked. "No, I'm fine," She mumbled. "Look, I'm sorry about earlier, I was just looking out for you and the baby and I should have asked you first," I apologize, strictly following Kelvin instructions.
"It's okay, I understand," She accepted, without an argument which seems really weird.
I notice at this point she was hiding her face, giving the urge to want to know what was wrong.
"Don't come any closer, just give me a moment, I will be back," She says, her voice really cracking.
Ignoring her words, I went to her, raising her head to see her teary face. "Did they hurt you Chelsea?" I asked, worried by the way she slumped to my chest, finally crying.
"It's hurt Liam, that I'm still unable to get revenge for my father death, she confessed it today, but yet I can't even use her words against her,"
"I can't even do anything by myself, now it makes me think that they were right, I might not be after your money but I still use you," She bursted out.
"Why am I helpless, why can't I do anything about it, why do I have to need you, the one who caused me so much pain, why does everything circle back to you," She cried out, her head buried in my chest and I calmly pet her, letting her talk.
"Have I ever complained to you?" I calmly asked her. "It's not about you complaining, I don't like being helpless, I don't want to be useless, I don't want to secure my father's wealth only, I want to make them pay," She cuts in.
"But I'm still new and I have not gotten enough power and position for that, it might take a year and I don't think I have that much time," She complained.
"Then let me help you," I offered. "And what would require this time, what bargain would you make with me, with you it's always like that," She snapped, pulling away from me.
"Would it be to permanently be your's, to get married or would it be worse than that, if you had another contract that give you power over me, then you won't have to stress, you won't go through this long cut and your true colors will show," She continued.
"I won't ask for that Chelsea, I already told you that I would wait, till your heart is ready to accept me,"
"But I'm going to help you, not because of any profit and there will be no bargain, I will be helping you because I love you and your desire would also be mine,"
"I can't keep turning in circles Chelsea, one minute I'm glad I managed to convince you and the next you are making things hard,"
"You are smart, put the pieces together and decide and whatever choice you make, I will always be waiting for you," I assured.
"You don't need to be ashamed or feel useless that you still come back to me, I don't mind, so you don't have to overthink things," I assured.
"Do you want me involved?" I asked, as she slowly approved by nodding her head.
"Good, I will look into it tomorrow," I informed. Smiling a bit, she sat down on the long couch.
"I can't believe I just cried in front of you," She mumbled. "Well I can't believe it too but," I thought to myself, looking at her pale self.
"I was supposed to make dinner right but it's noon," I say, changing the topic. "Do you want to watch a movie, till that time," I slowly proposed.
"The TV is downstairs and I don't have the energy to walk downstairs. "I can carry you," I mentioned.
"Liam, sit down," She said after a while and when I did, she proceeded to lie down on my legs.
"I'm having a headache, I don't want to make it worse," She explained. "I understand," I mumbled.
Resting my head back as I played with her hair, since she didn't complain, I didn't stop.
But then I paused, something didn't sit right. My mind recap what happened today, the fact I got to hold her and watch her complain was priceless but then something was off, something didn't sit right.
I suddenly remembered a phrase she said. "Chelsea," I softly called. "What do you mean when you say you don't have much time?" I asked.
