Their gazes were locked with minds that went blank. The tip of their noses accidentally touched due to the proximity, Callista who was immediately made aware of it hurried to straighten her body.
She cleared her throat briefly while pretending to adjust her dress. What was that? Why was her chest beating so fast? Was it because she was happy to be walking again or something else?
Not unlike Callista, Kenward tried to look busy by adjusting his tie.
"We should get going," he said briefly and then immediately walked ahead. Seeing that, Callista hurriedly grabbed her purse lying on the sofa and immediately followed Kenward.

A man with a flat face walked around the car. While the reporters outside the gate were trying to take pictures, he had to look like an authoritative man. He was very good at portraying several characters.
Callista was taken aback by Kenward's behavior today. However, of course, she did not refuse Kenward's helping hand. She wrapped her hand around the burly arm of the man next to her.
A man ran up to them, and Kenward handed over the car keys he had in his hand. The two doormen bowed their backs in respect for a moment before they opened the door.
As soon as she stepped into the vast building, Callista's eyes lit up. She could not hide the amazement that came over her. The decorations, the statues, the furnishings, everything looked luxurious.
Kenward turned his head, looking at Callista who was absorbed in her world.
"Do you want a building like this? I can buy it for you on the condition that you stay by my side for the rest of your life."
The whisper right in her ear made Callista shudder. Instead of being impressed, she was creeped out. What did he just say? Until the end of life? That's too long! At that moment all she had left might have been a slow beating heart.
The angelic-looking couple who instantly became the center of attention kept walking until they were right in front of the elevator. With services available in almost every corner of the building, neither Kenward nor Callista needed to press the button to open the elevator.
Callista had been silent all along. Letting the boxy thing take them to the 3rd floor. To be honest, even though she was the daughter of a conglomerate, she had never set foot in a party since the accident. And the parties she had attended as a child were a blurry memory. Right now, she was just a girl who knew nothing about parties.
Kenward let go of Callista's arm slowly. "I'll meet with my coworkers first on the fourth floor. I can't take you upstairs. Stay here for a moment," Kenward explained before walking away from Callista.
Callista was silent for a while. She was puzzled. So what was the point of being here if she just left? Ah, but this was a good thing. She did not need to linger with that psychopathic man and could enjoy time alone with her new legs.
Callista cast her eyes around. Her gaze rested on the beautiful pastries neatly arranged on the rising shelf. Two items she could not resist, cheesecake and chocolate cake!
With graceful steps, Callista approached the table containing the assorted cakes. A movement that was not rushed even though in her heart of hearts her enthusiasm was now raging.
Callista reached for the small plate provided. She took four kinds of cakes. Two kinds of chocolate cake with different chocolate concentrations, one cheesecake, and one tiramisu cake. What mouth-watering cakes!
Her smile widened as soon as the first bite entered her mouth. The cake melted in her mouth. Just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of bitterness from the chocolate. Very soft texture!
Not wanting to waste too much time, Callista immediately popped another type of cake into her mouth. This luxurious flavor must be from a famous chef. It was undoubtedly a feast from a conglomerate.
Before she knew it, four cakes had been consumed and ended up in Callista's stomach. She put down the empty plate and picked up a glass filled with a dark red drink.
Feeling very thirsty, Callista gulped it down greedily. Something hot and bitter entered her throat, and she gagged. Suddenly, her hand slapped her chest. She looked at the glass fiercely.
"How could I not expect this party to be filled with alcohol," Callista thought while rubbing her lips roughly.
"You seem to like that drink."
Callista turned her head, staring at the two men who were staggering towards her. As they approached, the strong scent of alcohol wafted into her nostrils. Her right hand tried to ward off the not-so-favorable scent, but of course, the effort was fruitless.
"I can get you a lot of high-quality drinks."
Callista turned her head to the right and left. It seemed that the people around her were indifferent to the two men who were half shouting. She became confused. Who were the two men talking to?
"You!"
She pointed a finger at herself.
"Well, you're the one wearing the white dress. You look very charming even with the mask on."
One of the men reached out his hand suddenly and was about to remove the mask Callista was wearing. Of course, the mask would not come off because of such a trivial pull. Callista was grateful that the two men didn't seem to understand how to remove her mask.
"Get your hands off me!" growled Callista who spontaneously brushed off the foreign hand.
The other man gave a small chuckle. "You don't need to play innocent. This building provides a resting place. Do you want to go there with this big brother? Big Brother will give you everything you want."
Callista was increasingly disgusted by the behavior of the two men before her. There was no point in dealing with them. It was better for her to walk away from them.
"Hey!"
Callista jerked at the hand that dared to grab her and stop her steps. "I'm not interested in you guys, so let go of your hands!"
The man laughed again. "This girl is fierce too, hahaha!"
"Fierce gets hotter in bed, buddy," the other man said.
Callista was infuriated, she tried to pull her hand back but she was outmatched. The man pulled her even closer.
"Let go!"
Crash! Bang!
The man's body flew up and was thrown away, slapping the table and ornaments in turn. The commotion that ensued didn't attract the attention of the surroundings as if the spectacle had become a natural thing. They just tried to avoid the fight.
The man with the disheveled face walked up to the one who was presumptuously trying to snatch his property.
"How dare you kick him! Don't you know who he is?"
Kenward smiled wryly. As his opponent sprinted toward him, his enthusiasm intensified. With one kick, the man in front of him was slammed into the marble.
Not feeling it, Kenward approached the man again. He choked him with so much force that he could no longer put his feet on the ground. Satisfied but not quite at his peak, Kenward released the choke.
He landed his knees on the sides of the sprawled man's body. "It won't be fun if you just die like that."
Countless fists flew until part of the man's face was crushed. Blood poured down the marble. The few people who saw it were stunned, but they tried hard to look casual.
"Because you have touched mine, death will soon come to you," Kenward said in what sounded like a whisper.
Kenward rose to his feet. He wiped his palm, which was covered in a thick red liquid, with a tissue. Turning around, he looked at the girl who was staring at him.
"Good show, wasn't it?" asked Kenward as he walked over to Callista. He grabbed Callista's palm and pulled the girl away from her new prey.
