Chapter 93 Unexpected Turns

Chapter 93 Unexpected Turns

Evelyn stood in the middle of the garden, her short summer dress swaying gently in the warm breeze. Her hair flowed freely, catching the sunlight and creating a halo effect around her head.

She placed a tender hand on her baby bump, talking softly to her unborn child while admiring the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Ryan, sitting a short distance away, couldn't take his eyes off her. There was a wistful look on his face, an admiration that was hard to conceal.

His gaze did not go unnoticed by Dominic, who stood nearby, his jaw tightening with irritation.

Dominic's protective instincts flared. He loved Evelyn deeply, and seeing Ryan's attention on her was enough to set him on edge.

But he kept his composure, unwilling to create a scene and determined to focus on their safety.

Evelyn's voice was a soothing melody as she spoke to her baby, unaware of the tension building around her.

"It's such a beautiful day, isn't it, little ones? I can't wait for you to see this world, to feel the sun on your face."

Suddenly, a loud gunshot shattered the tranquility. The birds scattered, and the peaceful atmosphere was instantly replaced by chaos.

Evelyn's eyes widened in shock. Her heart pounded in her chest in fear as Dominic sprang into action, rushing to her side and shielding her with his body.

“ what’s- h-happening ? “

Evelyn clutched Dominic’s arm , her focus on her bump wanting nothing to happen to her unborn children.

"Get down!"

Dominic barked, pulling out his gun with one hand while guiding Evelyn toward the house with the other.

Panic coursed through her, but she trusted him completely.

Ryan and the others, who had been scattered around the garden, followed suit, scrambling toward the house.

Dominic kept his eyes on the treeline, scanning for threats as they moved. His heart pounded, not just from the danger but from the need to protect his family.

They reached the house, and Dominic signaled for everyone to stay quiet.

"Stay low and keep quiet,"

he ordered, his voice a harsh whisper. Alex was already there, his own gun drawn, ready to support Dominic.

From the window, they saw two large cars approaching, their engines growling ominously.

The vehicles stopped just outside the house, and several men stepped out, armed and dangerous.

"Alex, take the back,"

Dominic instructed, his voice low but authoritative.

"We need to keep them away from Evelyn."

Alex nodded, moving swiftly to cover the rear of the house. Inside, the tension was palpable.

The group stayed huddled together, waiting for Dominic and Alex's signal.

Evelyn's heart raced, fear for her unborn child mingling with the terror of the unknown threat.

Dominic's presence beside her was the only thing keeping her grounded. She clutched his arm, trying to stay calm.

Dominic looked at her and she was scared. It was all on her face which trembled Evelyn’s heart.

Outside, the men from the cars began to spread out, their intentions unclear but obviously hostile.

Dominic's grip on his gun tightened as he exchanged a determined look with Alex. They knew what was at stake—everyone's lives depended on their ability to defend the house.

For a moment, everything was still, the air thick with tension. Then, Dominic and Alex took a deep breath, ready to do whatever it took to keep their family safe.

Dominic and Alex exchanged a silent, determined glance. They knew they had to take control of the situation before things escalated further.

With a deep breath, Dominic signaled for Alex to follow him, and together they stepped out of the house, hands raised in a gesture of peace.

"We don't want any trouble,"

Dominic called out to the armed men, his voice calm but firm.

"We have women inside, one of them is pregnant. Please, let's talk this out."

The leader of the group, a tall man with a scar running down his cheek, narrowed his eyes at Dominic.

He seemed to consider their words for a moment before nodding to his men. The tension in the air was palpable, and every second felt like an eternity.

"Alright,"

the leader said, his voice rough.

"Come forward slowly."

Dominic and Alex moved cautiously, their hands still raised. They knew this was a gamble, but they had no choice.

As they approached, the armed men closed in around them, weapons at the ready.

"We just want to keep our people safe,"

Dominic continued.

"There's no need for violence."

The leader sneered, his eyes cold.

"Safe, huh? Well, we've got other plans."

Without warning, the men lunged at Dominic and Alex, overpowering them with brute force. They were swiftly disarmed and forced to their knees, their hands bound tightly behind their backs.

The leader's men laughed cruelly as they secured their captives, clearly enjoying the power they held.

Inside the house, the women huddled together in a corner, their faces pale with fear. Evelyn clutched her belly, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over her.

Her breath came in short, panicked gasps as her health began to deteriorate.

"Kylie,"

Evelyn whispered, her voice trembling.

"I don't feel well."

Kylie, her face etched with worry, quickly grabbed a bottle of water and brought it to Evelyn's lips.

"Here, drink this,"

she urged softly.

"It'll help."

Evelyn sipped the water, trying to steady herself. She leaned heavily on Kylie, her eyes fluttering closed for a moment as she tried to gather her strength. The fear for her unborn child was overwhelming, and she fought to stay conscious.

Outside, Dominic and Alex were hauled to their feet and dragged back toward the house.

The leader shoved them roughly inside, where the women watched in horror.

"Look what we've got here,"

the leader sneered, looking around at the terrified faces.

"You thought you could bargain with us? Now you're all our hostages."

Dominic's eyes met Evelyn's, a mix of fear and determination in his gaze. He struggled against his bonds, but the ropes held tight.

Alex, equally bound, stood tense beside him, his mind racing for a way to protect their loved ones.

Evelyn's health continued to worsen, her vision blurring as she tried to stay focused.

She gripped Kylie's hand tightly, drawing comfort from her sister's presence. The other women surrounded them, their own fear evident but united in their desire to protect Evelyn and her baby.

"Please,"

Evelyn whispered, her voice barely audible.

"Don't hurt them."

The leader glanced at her, his expression unreadable. For a moment, it seemed as if he might reconsider, but then his gaze hardened.

"You'll stay quiet if you know what's good for you," he growled.

Dominic's heart ached as he watched Evelyn struggle, powerless to help her. He knew they had to find a way out of this, but the odds seemed insurmountable.

Still, he refused to give up hope. For Evelyn, for their unborn child, and for everyone in that room, he would fight with everything he had.
