Chapter 92 Win Over Him
Chapter 92 Win Over Him
The sun was high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the countryside as the girls played volleyball on the grassy field next to the cottage.
Their laughter and shouts of encouragement echoed through the air, adding to the lively atmosphere. Evelyn, feeling the need for some quiet reflection, decided to take a stroll through the garden.
She wandered along the winding paths, admiring the colorful flowers and the gentle hum of bees buzzing around them.
The tranquility was a balm to her soul, allowing her to momentarily forget her worries. However, her peaceful reverie was abruptly interrupted by the sound of a revving engine.
A group of guys in a rugged jeep came to a stop near the garden fence. Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat as she took a step back, her eyes widening in alarm.
The guys, dressed in casual summer clothes, hopped out of the jeep, their laughter and easygoing manner contrasting sharply with her sudden apprehension.
Sensing her unease, her friends quickly rushed over from the volleyball game.
“Hey, everything alright?”
Kylie called out, her voice tinged with concern.
One of the guys, tall with a charming smile, stepped forward, addressing Evelyn.
“Hey there! Didn’t mean to startle you. We were just passing by and thought we’d say hello.”
His tone was friendly, and his demeanor relaxed, but Evelyn remained cautious.
Kacy, ever the peacemaker, approached with a welcoming smile.
“Hello! We’re just here for a girls’ trip. Would you like to join us for some volleyball?”
The guy’s eyes lit up with interest.
“Sounds fun! What do you say, guys?”
The group exchanged glances and enthusiastic nods.
“Sure, why not?”
another guy replied, grinning.
Introductions were made, and soon the guys were mingling with the girls, joining in the volleyball game with gusto.
The air was filled with renewed laughter and playful banter as they all bonded over the impromptu match. The initial tension melted away, replaced by a lively camaraderie.
One of the guys, with tousled hair and a warm smile, noticed Evelyn standing slightly apart from the group.
He made his way over to her, a friendly glint in his eyes.
“Hi, I’m Ryan,”
he said, extending his hand.
“Evelyn,”
she replied, shaking his hand and offering a tentative smile.
Ryan leaned against the garden fence, his posture relaxed.
“So, what brings you and your friends out here?”
Evelyn sighed softly, glancing around at the serene surroundings.
“We needed a break from the city. It’s been... a tough few weeks.”
Ryan nodded understandingly.
“I get that. Sometimes you just need to get away from it all.”
As they continued talking, Evelyn found herself relaxing. Ryan was easy to talk to, his genuine interest and kind demeanor putting her at ease.
They shared stories about their lives, their dreams, and their favorite places to escape to.
The volleyball game continued in the background, the cheerful sounds of their friends adding to the friendly atmosphere.
Evelyn and Ryan sat on a nearby bench, the conversation flowing effortlessly. She felt a lightness in her heart, the burdens of the past weeks momentarily forgotten.
“So, what’s your favorite thing about the countryside?”
Ryan asked, his eyes twinkling with curiosity.
Evelyn thought for a moment, then smiled.
“The peace. The chance to breathe and just be myself. And moments like this,”
she added, looking around at the joyful scene before her.
Ryan smiled back, his expression sincere.
“I’m glad we stopped by. This has turned out to be a pretty great day.”
As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the fields, Evelyn felt a sense of contentment.
Surrounded by friends, old and new, she realized that sometimes, unexpected moments could bring the greatest joy.
—————————————————————
Two days had passed since the group of guys had joined the girls at the countryside cottage.
The bonds between them had grown quickly, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and shared stories.
Today, they decided to throw a small summer party, complete with music, food, and a makeshift dance floor in the garden.
As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the party, the sound of laughter and music filled the air.
Evelyn was sitting with Ryan, enjoying a lighthearted conversation, when a sudden hush fell over the group.
Her eyes followed the direction of everyone else’s gaze and landed on a group of familiar figures walking towards the house.
Dominic, Alex, Jack, and Caleb were striding purposefully up the path, their expressions a mix of determination and jealousy.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of Dominic. His presence was a stark reminder of everything she had been trying to escape from, and the raw emotions she thought she had buried resurfaced in an instant. She stood up, uncertainty and apprehension washing over her.
Before she could react further, Kylie and Kacy were by her side.
“Evelyn,”
Kylie said gently,
“we called them.”
Evelyn’s eyes widened in surprise.
“You did what?”
Kacy nodded, placing a comforting hand on her arm.
“We thought it was time you two talked. Really talked. You need to listen to each other and see if there’s anything left to salvage.”
Evelyn glanced back at Dominic, who was now standing at the edge of the party, his eyes locked on her.
There was a storm of emotions in his gaze—hurt, anger, and something else she couldn’t quite decipher. She took a deep breath, feeling her friends’ support bolstering her courage.
Dominic stepped forward, his eyes never leaving hers.
“Evelyn, can we talk?”
The party guests, sensing the tension, moved to give them space. Evelyn nodded slowly, her heart pounding in her chest.
“Alright. Let’s talk.”
They walked a little way from the group, finding a quiet spot under the shade of a large oak tree. The distant sounds of the party faded, leaving them in a bubble of stillness.
Dominic took a deep breath, his voice low and strained.
“I didn’t want it to come to this. I thought we could fix things.”
“ fix things? I don’t even want to see your face “
Evelyn felt tears welling up, but she fought them back.
“ i know i messed up but i had reasons “
“Reasons ? Go to hell with your reasons ? Do you know how was i when i found your letter !? I was fucking alone ! “
“ i am sorry but- “
“ sorry ? After everything you have only sorry ? “
Evelyn took a deep breath , going breathless and Dominic noticed it and held her waist gently which only angered Evelyn.
“ let go of me “
“ enough ! “
Dominic noticed her getting tired and not feeling well , he tried to hold her and she closed her eyes.
He , all of a sudden picked up Evelyn making her gasp as he walked to one of the nearby chair and placed her down.
“Dominic, we’ve been hurting each other for so long. I didn’t know what else to do.”
He reached out, taking her hand in his.
“I don’t want to lose you, Evelyn. We’ve been through too much together to end it like this.”
“ Lucian , Mateo and Mathew planned against me. I found out on the day i left you. It was the reason of me leaving. They were aiming at you and they were planning something big “
“ you could have just told me ! “
Evelyn screamed at him and this time , everyone had gathered at the door seeing them both.
Evelyn looked into his eyes, seeing the pain and sincerity there.
“I don’t want to lose you either, Dominic. But something has to change.”
As they spoke, the world around them seemed to fade away. They talked about their fears, their mistakes, and their hopes for the future.
It was raw and honest, and by the end, they both felt a glimmer of the connection they once had.
“ but I don’t think id want to continue living in such a relationship where i am the one always left behind “
“ last chance. I beg you for last chance. I promise to give you a happy family and to our child “
Evelyn looked at him and frowned.
“ happy family ? So now that I’m pregnant. You’d do it “
Dominic felt his heart broken and Evelyn stood up , walking out of there while Dominic watched her.
“ don’t worry. We understand you Dominic but she needs time. It had been so hard on her and she went through a lot “
Kylie spoke and Dominic nodded his head closing his eyes. He was ready to win her heart over again and he wasn’t gonna stop until he had given her what she really deserved.
