Chapter 94 Only You Matter
Chapter 94 Only You Matter
The leader’s boot connected with Dominic’s ribs, sending him crashing to the floor with a grunt of pain.
Evelyn cried out, tears streaming down her face as she watched the brutal scene unfold.
Dominic, Alex, Jack, and Caleb were all being savagely beaten, the sickening sound of fists and boots meeting flesh echoing through the room.
“Stop! Please, stop!”
Evelyn’s voice cracked as she begged, her hands clutching her baby bump protectively. She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, the stress and fear taking a toll on her already fragile condition.
“What do you want from us? Just let them go!”
The leader turned to her, his eyes cold and unfeeling.
“What we want is none of your business, sweetheart,”
he sneered.
“But if you don’t keep quiet, you’ll find out the hard way.”
One of the men grabbed Sia, his intentions clear as he leered at her. Sia struggled, panic in her eyes, but she was no match for his strength.
Jack, despite his injuries, surged forward in a desperate attempt to save her. He managed to land a punch on the man, but the leader swiftly retaliated, kicking Jack back to the ground.
Dominic, bleeding and bruised, locked eyes with Evelyn. The pain he felt wasn’t just physical; it was the helplessness of not being able to protect his wife and their unborn child.
He saw the same desperation in Alex’s eyes as they both realized they had to act fast.
Alex caught Lilah’s eye and subtly signaled toward the gun lying on the table, a few feet away from a man who seemed lost in his own thoughts.
Lilah’s heart raced, but she nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. Carefully, she inched toward the table, her movements slow and deliberate to avoid drawing attention.
With the men preoccupied, Lilah managed to reach the gun. Her hands trembled as she picked it up, her eyes darting between the leader and her friends.
Summoning every ounce of courage, she pointed the gun at the man who had been seated, her voice steady despite the fear coursing through her veins.
“Let them go,”
Lilah demanded, her finger hovering over the trigger.
“Or I will shoot.”
The room fell into a tense silence as the men turned to face her, surprised by the sudden shift in power.
The man in the chair slowly raised his hands, realizing the threat was real. The leader’s eyes narrowed, anger and frustration flickering across his face.
“You’re bluffing,”
he spat, but there was a note of uncertainty in his voice.
“Try me,”
Lilah shot back, her grip on the gun tightening.
“If you don’t let them go, I’ll do it.”
The standoff stretched, every second feeling like an eternity. The leader weighed his options, the cold calculation evident in his eyes. Finally, he signaled to his men to release Dominic, Alex, Jack, and Caleb.
The moment the men were freed, they rushed to the women’s side, forming a protective barrier around them.
Dominic immediately wrapped his arms around Evelyn, his heart breaking at the sight of her tears and the strain on her face.
“It’s okay, we’re okay,”
he whispered, trying to soothe her even as pain racked his body.
Evelyn nodded weakly, leaning into his embrace. Her health was deteriorating rapidly, but for now, they were safe.
“Everyone, out!”
the leader barked at his men, his anger barely contained.
“We’ll settle this another time.”
As the intruders retreated, the tension in the room began to dissipate. Alex helped Lilah lower the gun, his gratitude evident in his eyes.
“You were amazing,”
he told her softly.
Lilah nodded, the adrenaline starting to wear off as the reality of what had just happened set in.
“We need to get Evelyn to a doctor,”
she said urgently.
“Let’s get to the cars and leave this place,”
Dominic said, determination in his voice.
“We can’t stay here any longer.”
With the group moving quickly, they gathered their essentials and carefully made their way to the vehicles. The ordeal had left them battered and bruised, but they were together, and for now, that was enough.
All of a sudden , a painful scream was heard which scared everyone.
Scream so painful that everyone felt their heart breaking.
Dominic turned his head.
It was ……
Evelyn with ……
Blood dripping down her thighs.
The group moved quickly, trying to put as much distance between themselves and the house as possible.
But as they reached the cars, a chilling realization struck them. Evelyn, who had been leaning on Dominic for support, suddenly went pale, and blood began to drip down her legs.
"Oh my God,"
Kylie gasped, her eyes wide with terror.
"Evelyn, you're bleeding!"
The sight froze everyone in their tracks, a collective wave of fear crashing over them. Dominic's heart stopped for a moment, and then he sprang into action, scooping Evelyn into his arms.
"We need to get to the hospital, now!"
he barked, his voice filled with urgency and panic.
With everyone moving quickly, they piled into the cars. Dominic held Evelyn tightly, whispering reassurances as the car sped toward the nearest hospital.
Her face was ashen, and her breathing labored, but she clung to him, her trust in him unwavering.
Minutes felt like hours, but they finally reached the hospital. Dominic didn't wait for the car to stop completely before he jumped out, carrying Evelyn inside.
"Help! We need help!"
he shouted, his voice echoing through the emergency room.
A team of doctors and nurses rushed forward, taking Evelyn from his arms and placing her on a gurney.
"Sir, you need to stay back,"
one of the doctors said firmly, guiding Dominic to the waiting area.
Dominic's world spun as he watched them wheel Evelyn away. He sank into a chair, his hands trembling and his mind racing with fear and guilt.
The others arrived soon after, their faces etched with worry.
After what felt like an eternity, a doctor approached Dominic.
"Mr. Ivanov?"
he said, his expression serious but not devoid of hope.
"Your wife suffered from severe stress, which caused her to hit something and start bleeding. But we managed to save the babies. She'll need significant rest and care, but she's stable."
Relief and gratitude washed over Dominic, and he nodded, fighting back tears.
"Can I see her?"
The doctor nodded.
"She's resting now, but you can go in."
Dominic entered the room quietly, his heart aching at the sight of Evelyn lying there with her eyes closed, looking so fragile. He approached her bed and gently took her hand, pressing a soft kiss to her frail fingers.
"Evelyn,"
he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
"I was such a jerk for leaving you. I was scared and stupid. But I swear, I’ll do anything to make it right. I love you so much. Please, just get better."
He sat beside her, holding her hand and watching her sleep, vowing to himself that he would never leave her side again. As the first rays of dawn filtered through the window, Dominic felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
They had been through so much, but they were still together, and that was all that mattered.
