Evelyn gently lowered Dante and Dimitri into the warm bath, her movements careful and tender. 

She watched as their tiny bodies relaxed in the water, their innocent eyes looking up at her with trust and love. But her heart was heavy, the threat looming over her family weighing down on her.

Tears began to fall silently from her eyes, mixing with the bathwater. The fear of someone targeting her precious twins consumed her thoughts. 

She was so lost in her worries that she didn't notice Dominic enter the bathroom.

He moved quietly behind her, wrapping his strong arms around her waist. Startled, Evelyn gasped, but his familiar embrace quickly calmed her. 

She turned her head slightly to look up at him, her tear-streaked face filled with anguish.

Dominic pressed a gentle kiss to her temple. 

"I promise you, Evelyn, I will protect our family at any cost. No one will harm our boys."

His words were a balm to her troubled heart. She nodded, a small, grateful smile forming on her lips. 

"Thank you, Dominic. I know you'll keep us safe."

They stayed like that for a moment, finding solace in each other's presence. The twins gurgled happily in the bath, blissfully unaware of the world outside. 

Later, as they sat in their room, Dominic took a deep breath, gathering the courage to share more troubling news. He looked at Evelyn, his expression serious. 

"Evelyn, there's something else you need to know."

She looked at him, concern etching her features. 

"What is it, Dominic?"

"Kaia is back," 

he said, his voice steady but filled with underlying tension.

Evelyn's eyes widened in surprise.

"Kaia? After all this time?"

Dominic nodded. 

"Yes. She’s back, and we need to be prepared for what that might mean."

Evelyn took a deep breath, absorbing the news. 

"We’ll face this together, just like everything else."

Dominic reached out, taking her hand in his.

"Exactly. We’re stronger together, and nothing can break us."

Evelyn smiled, feeling a renewed sense of determination. 

Evelyn finally managed to get Dante and Dimitri to sleep, their peaceful faces a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside her.

She sighed in relief, gently tucking the blankets around them. As she stepped out of the nursery, her phone rang, the shrill sound piercing the quiet night.

A bad feeling settled in the pit of her stomach as she glanced at the screen. The number was unknown, but something told her she needed to answer it.

With a deep breath, she picked up the call.

“Hello?” 

she said, her voice cautious.

“Hello, Evelyn,”

a familiar voice replied, sending chills down her spine. It was Kaia.

“Kaia?” 

Evelyn’s heart raced. 

“What do you want?”

“I want you to listen very carefully,”

Kaia said, her tone menacing. 

“If you don’t do exactly as I say, Angelina will pay the price.”

Evelyn’s blood ran cold. 

“What are you talking about? What have you done with her?”

“She’s safe for now,” 

Kaia replied smoothly. 

“But her safety depends on your cooperation.”

Evelyn clenched her fist, struggling to keep her voice steady. 

“What do you want me to do?”

Kaia’s laughter was cold and devoid of any warmth. 

“You’ll find out soon enough. Just know that if you don’t comply, Angelina will suffer. And so will your precious twins.”

Tears welled up in Evelyn’s eyes as the weight of Kaia’s threat settled on her shoulders. 

“Please, don’t hurt them. I’ll do whatever you want.”

“That’s more like it,” 

Kaia said, satisfaction dripping from her words. 

“I knew you’d see things my way. I’ll be in touch with your instructions. And remember, Evelyn, I’m always watching.”

The call ended abruptly, leaving Evelyn standing in stunned silence. She felt a mix of fear, anger, and helplessness. 

How had things come to this? Her family was in danger, and Kaia was at the center of it all.

She took a shaky breath, wiping away her tears. She had to stay strong, for her sons, for Dominic, and for Angelina.

Evelyn knew she couldn’t face this alone. She needed to tell Dominic and the rest of her family. Together, they would find a way to protect everyone and stop Kaia’s threats.

Evelyn gathered everyone in the living room, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination. 

Dominic, Alex, Caleb, Jack, and Ethan were all there, their expressions turning serious as they sensed the gravity of the moment. 

Evelyn’s mother and sisters sat close, their concern palpable.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself. 

“I have something important to tell you all. I got a call tonight from Kaia.”

The room fell silent, the name alone sending a ripple of tension through everyone. Dominic’s face darkened with worry, his jaw tightening.

“What did she want?”

he asked, his voice barely concealing his anger.

“She threatened to hurt Angelina if I don’t do exactly what she says,”

Evelyn said, her voice trembling slightly. 

“She said she’s always watching and that our twins are at risk too.”

A collective gasp echoed through the room. Dominic stood up, his fists clenched. 

“We can’t let her do this, Evelyn. We need to find her and stop her.”

Evelyn shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. 

“I know, Dominic, but we don’t have much time. She said she’ll give me instructions soon, and I have to follow them. I can’t risk Angelina’s life or our twins’ safety.”

“No, Evelyn,” 

Dominic said firmly, his eyes blazing with determination. 

“We’ll find another way. We’re not giving in to her demands. We need to protect our family, but we can’t let her control us.”

Alex stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on Dominic’s shoulder.

“We’ll figure this out. We have resources and connections. We can track her down and ensure she doesn’t hurt anyone.”

Evelyn’s mother reached out, taking her hand. 

“We’re all here for you, Evelyn. We’ll stand by you and do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe.”

Caleb and Jack nodded in agreement, their expressions resolute. Ethan, holding Dimitri, looked at his sister with a mixture of concern and support. 

“We won’t let anything happen to you or the twins. We’ll fight this together.”

Evelyn looked around at her family, their unwavering support giving her strength. 

“Thank you, everyone. I know we can do this together. But we need to be prepared for anything. Kaia is dangerous, and she won’t hesitate to hurt us.”

Dominic took her hand, pulling her into a protective embrace. 

“We’ll get through this, Evelyn. I promise you. We won’t let her tear our family apart.”
