Chapter 56 Melissa's restlessness
Melissa was led to a waiting car, where she was placed in the backseat between two guards. The drive to the werewolf realm was long and silent, with Melissa lost in her own thoughts. She couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as they approached their destination.
When they finally arrived at the werewolf realm, Melissa was taken to the Alpha's residence. The grandeur of the building was overwhelming, with its towering walls and intricate carvings. As they entered, Melissa couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and fear.
Inside, the Alpha was waiting for her. He was a formidable figure, with a commanding presence that demanded respect. His piercing eyes bore into Melissa's soul, making her feel small and insignificant.
"Melissa," the Alpha spoke, his voice deep and authoritative. "You have caused quite a stir with your escape attempt. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
Melissa took a deep breath, summoning all her courage. "I... I didn't mean to cause any trouble. I was just scared and didn't know what to do."
The Alpha's expression softened slightly, but his tone remained stern. "Fear is not an excuse for disobedience. You know the rules of our realm, and you chose to defy them."
Melissa nodded, her eyes downcast. She knew she had made a mistake, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of injustice. She had only wanted to protect herself and find a place where she could be safe.
The Alpha Russel sighed, his gaze softening. "I understand that you are scared, Melissa. But we cannot allow disobedience to go unpunished. You will be confined to your quarters until further notice."
Melissa's heart sank. She had hoped for a chance to explain herself, to plead her case. But it seemed that the Alpha Russel had made up his mind.
Despite her confinement, Melissa couldn't shake off the feeling of restlessness. She knew she had to find a way to escape, to protect herself from whatever fate awaited her in the werewolf realm. Determined, she began to devise a plan.
Late one evening, as the moon hung high in the sky, Melissa found herself alone in her quarters. It was the perfect opportunity to make her move. She started examining the room, searching for any weaknesses or possible escape routes.
Just as she was about to put her plan into action, the door swung open, and Alpha Russel stood in the doorway, his expression stern. "Melissa, I warned you that I wouldn't allow you to escape. Have you forgotten my words so soon?"
Melissa's heart raced, but she couldn't back down now. She took a deep breath and met Alpha Russel's gaze. "Alpha Russel, I need to tell you something important. Alpha Avalor, the one who was supposed to come and get me, is in a coma in the human realm. He can't come for me."
Alpha Russel's eyes widened in surprise, and a flicker of concern crossed his face. "Are you certain of this? How did you come by this information?"
Melissa took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "I saw Alpha Avalor in the human realm. I stumbled upon him by accident, and I even touched him. He was in a coma, and there were humans taking care of him. I have no reason to lie about this, Alpha Russel."
Alpha Russel's brows furrowed in disbelief. "This is impossible. Alpha Avalor is in his territory, and he sent me a letter just a few days ago, warning me that a war will happen if I don't bring you back to the human realm."
Melissa shook her head, her voice filled with conviction. "I swear, Alpha Russel, what I'm telling you is the truth. I don't know why Alpha Avalor would send that letter, but he is not in a position to do so. He needs help."
Alpha Russel's expression hardened, his eyes narrowing. "If what you say is true, then this changes everything. We must investigate this matter further. But for now, you will remain confined to your quarters until we can verify your claims."
Melissa's heart sank once again. She had hoped that Alpha Russel would believe her and help her escape. But it seemed that her words had only raised more questions and suspicions.
As the days passed, Melissa's restlessness grew. She couldn't shake off the feeling that time was running out, that she needed to find a way to escape before it was too late. She knew she had to take matters into her own hands.
Despite being confined to her quarters, Melissa refused to give up. She pleaded with the guards day after day, asking them to let her speak to Alpha Russel. She knew that if she could just get him to listen, he might understand the truth of her situation.
Finally, after hours of relentless pleading, the guards relented. They escorted Melissa to Alpha Russel's study, where she hoped to make him see reason. As they entered the study, Melissa's heart pounded in her chest, unsure of what would happen next.
Alpha Russel sat behind his desk, his expression guarded. "Melissa, what is the meaning of this? I have already made my decision, and it is final."
Melissa took a deep breath, summoning all her courage. "Alpha Russel, please hear me out. I have important information that you need to know."
Alpha Russel sighed, his patience wearing thin. "Very well, speak your piece."
Melissa's voice trembled slightly as she began, "Not only is Alpha Avalor in a coma in the human realm, but your son, Lucas, is following me everywhere, making my life a living hell. He is relentless in his pursuit to bring me back, and I don't know why. I need your help, Alpha Russel."
Alpha Russel's eyebrows furrowed in disbelief. "This is preposterous. Lucas would never leave the werewolf realm willingly. And why would he be after you?"
Just as Melissa was about to respond, the study door swung open, and Lucas himself walked in, a determined look on his face. "What's going on here?" he demanded, his voice filled with anger.
