Chapter 198 A mother's ambition.

Chapter 198 A mother's ambition.
Avalor POV

I raced back to the company immediately. I heard that there was an urgent board meeting. I know for sure it was my mom doing. She clearly wants to get something out of this or else. My mother, I know, would not just attend a meeting of a company that she doesn't give a fuck about. She clearly wants to overthrow Melissa just as she had always planned, and I know she is expecting all her plans to work perfectly, but I would not give her that chance at all.

As I got to the office, I was surprised to see the board meeting room empty. As I stared at the secretary who was packing some things, she looked at me and then smiled faintly.

"What's going on? Where is everybody? Why am I not seeing anybody here? Is the meeting canceled?" I questioned as she smiled.

"It is not cancelled, sir. It's just that everything has been moved. I'm so sorry that you had to come late, but Melissa had dealt with the important things and you don't have to worry. She already left," she said to me and then just walked past me as I went back to my post.

Sitting down, I brought out my laptop and tried to check for new files that would tell information about what happened in the meeting, but there was nothing. I felt so frustrated. What had my mom done? Now I know that she has done something.

Just then, I heard clicking sounds of heels. Looking up, it was my mom as she had her hands folded and a smile on her face.

"You are sitting here. Are you sitting here looking so frustrated when you can actually take over the company from Melissa?" she said to me as I immediately looked around, noticing that few employees were still looking at us, clearly because of the way she shouted.

I signaled for her to sit down.

"Mom, stop it. Sit. You can't just come here and shout like that. What are you expecting? Is somebody here that I am trying to do something? Besides, I am not trying. I don't want her company," I told her continuously.

"You just don't listen," I said to her as she laughed.

"You are crazy. I never expected the son I worked so hard for would act this way to me. I never expected you to be like this to me. Come on. You are actually acting very, very crazy to me because you just told me that this is how you want everything to go. All my hard work. I am working so hard to get rid of Melissa so I can place you there in that position. This is your opportunity. Melissa is missing again. She has gone on a break. Even if it's just a day or two. Take charge, do something," she said to me as I laughed and then stood up.

"Now I know you're crazy, mom. Yes, I want to do everything you want me to do because I feel like I am obliged to do it. But from the way you are acting, it's like you're forcing me to do things I don't want to do. I don't want to. I don't want to get involved. Please, I beg you. Don't let us end things this way. I don't want to do anything to Papa Melissa. And you don't have to get rid of her. Please tell me you have not yet done anything offensive that will cause issues for us," I said to her as she laughed.

"I have done more than that, and I am ready to do more. I see that what I did did not really cause anything but bruises to her," she said as I stopped her.

"Mom," I muttered as everything began to make perfect sense to me.

"You. You caused the accident. You were the one behind it. Do you know what had to happen? You were the one behind the accident. How could you? How could you do something like that to an innocent girl? Yes, you want her property and you are free to fight for it. But come on, you should have done it that way. You shouldn't have made such drastic moves. You shouldn't have. Please, mom, tell me that you're not the woman who exploded that car. Please tell me you're not the one who planted a bomb in her car," I pleaded, hoping that she would for once in her life reject my accusation.

But all she did was laugh.

"Why would I reject what I did? I did it, and I will proudly say I did it anytime. I would never run away from the truth and I will never run away from what I did. Yes, I planted the bomb because I wanted you, my foolish son, to take over. But I see you don't want it. This is your opportunity, Avalor. Please do this for your mother. Do this one thing for me and leave the drug empire. I don't want you becoming a mafia lord or whatever it is you are dragging me. The lion, he is dead and somebody else will take his position. Silas can do that, but not you. Please, I beg you. Don't do this. I am begging you. Just for once listen to me and do what I want you to do. Please," she said to me as I stayed silent, feeling like I was about to break down.

It was now making absurd sense to me. Everything. Now I realized how. Why? Why would my mom do something like this to Melissa? What if Melissa finds out? She might actually see me as her worst enemy. Because of course, it's my mom who did this to her.

Oh God. I decided to push my mom's words away. Since I couldn't go against her, I would just have to refuse her offer.

"I cannot do what you want me to do, Mom. You know why. Melissa will be back in the office tomorrow morning and I don't want you ruining things for her. Please. Maybe she had a headache or something. She'll be back," I said as my mom brought out her phone, a little grin on her face.

She dropped it on the desk and I looked at it to see that it was the CCTV footage of the elevator and standing there was Melissa. Before I could say anything about the footage, Melissa fell to the ground and Richard rushed out.

I then looked at my mom as she smiled.

"Yes, yes. My accident is working. Melissa is weak and she might not be in office anytime soon. Take over. I don't care. Take over, please. I am walking behind the curtains to make you get what you want. Do not disappoint me," she said and then stormed away.
