Chapter 112 Secret Arrival
The car sped forward now and a downpour had already begun as it surged forward on the asphalt road. Melissa just stared blankly into the void and thought about a lot of things. She hadn't expected the infernal to come to her for her, yet he did. He seemed like he was the kind of person who wouldn't play with family.
Even though she wanted to help him immediately, she couldn't necessarily wave her hand and make things happen.
The Infernal apart, she was also concerned about Margaret. She was currently fast asleep in the car, acting like she had no care in the world. Throughout the time they'd been to Arabella's house, Melissa had been training herself and she could feel Richard doing the same. Both of them were flaring their innate abilities trying to improve it as much as they could. Therefore she has been sensing everyone's emotions and even the subtle changes in it.
Margaret's emotion was most of the time happy on the surface but when Melissa pressed into it, they had this emptiness about it. It was how Melissa had felt when she didn't know who her mate was. It was a feeling of loss and tragedy. As if she was just living but life wasn't really fulfilling. That was actually the reason why she let her come with them. She'd promised she would test her diplomatic skill with the council and the regional meeting that still doesn't have a set date.
She'd been so genuinely excited that it felt weird. Melissa didn't understand the emotion that was coming from her as it wasn't just happiness it was like a sense of accomplishment. Melissa really needed to work more with her emotional abilities and understand what different emotional threads meant.
She sighed, there was indeed no rest for the wicked. She shifted her weight a bit and she knocked into Richard a bit. She looked up in shock, she'd forgotten anyone was there. She looked at him and he smiled.
"How are you doing that?" She whispered her question.
He looked at her like a mother would look at a child she thought would die. It made Melissa feel small, and she wouldn't deny that she liked feeling small when she was near him. She snuggled under his arm and he bent a bit to kiss her on the forehead. She giggled softly but quickly glanced up to check if anyone was watching and she relaxed when she discovered everyone except Avalors who was driving was asleep.
Even Beatrice who was in the front seat and she was fast asleep. They'd been on the road since midnight. They'd purposely moved then due to the fact that it was unexpected by people and also their main line of defense; Richard was stronger at night- almost unstoppable as a matter of fact.
"Why are you smiling weirdly?" She asked Richard again.
"I am happy," he simply said.
"And why is that?"
"Cause I have the Luna of Dunham wrapped around my fingers and I can finally begin my plans for world domination," he chuckled as he spoke and Melissa gave him the expected punch in the gut.
"I don't know what I see in you honestly," she said, jerking herself from him, her face pouting in a fake anger.
"You saw my jaw and this abs," he said, touching his chin and his stomach.
Melissa couldn't deny that she loved the shape of his jaw and his stomach, but hell if she let him know that, he would gloat about it all year. "They are not that nice," she said. "Ronald has better ones," she rolled her eyes.
The fact that she could speak about Ronald now and not automatically feel the urge to murder someone was a good sign. She was at last at peace with herself and her wolf. All she had to do now was get rid of that stupid mating bond and then she would be free completely.
"I don't carry pwrfume filled with poisons around," he giggled. "Though I am regreting that now. I should get one of those and maybe you'd be more cooperative," he teased her more.
She snickered and jabbed him in the stomach again. "Just because you are a little cute doesn't mean you will get away with always talking nonsense,"she said.
Richard looked at her and ran his fingers across her face and she shivered a bit. She'd discovered that no matter how harsh everything seems and no matter how difficult the going gets, if she had him by his side, she would always figure out something, just out of that sheer knowledge that he would always be at her back.
She leaned forward to whisper something in his ears and he bent his head sideways. "Take us out of here," she said.
"Why? That is reckless," Richard replied.
"No, it is sexy,"she said adamantly.
"No it isn't and I won't risk it. And also the car is moving, and without training, I normally shouldn't be able to do it," he replied.
"Well, you can, I just want to be alone.,"she said.
"We can be alone this evening, I'll let you choose wherever you want," he said and she smiled heartily.
The car sped forward and at last they reached the castle. They'd already planned not to show the Luna or Margaret to anyone just yet so Richard warped them all away from the location and they arrived inside Melissa's room.
When they arrived, Vanessa and Candice were making the bed and were chatting with each other freely. They didn't notice that they'd arrived or anything. Melissa turned to both Richard and Margaret and signaled for them to shush.
She tiptoed right towards the two making her bed and stood in their midst without saying a word. Richard facepalmed and shook his head. Sometimes he forgot Melissa was a very childish girl.
"When do you think she would arrive," Vanessa asked, tucking in her own side of the bed.
"Maybe tomorrow, I am just a little sad she didn't tell us either," Candice replied.
Vanessa wanted to glance sideways to make her reply when her eyes suddenly met with a human silhouette she wasn't expecting. She jerked and yelled and Candice saw it too at that moment and the both yelled as Melissa followed up with a thundering laughter
