Chapter 111 Family Bonds
Arabella got up immediately from her seat to open the door. As she walked elegantly towards the door, it dawned on Eria how humbly she was actually living. The absence of servants or maids in the house and the fact that she did everything herself.
The only help she seemed to have was her driver and judging by the air of confidence that driver was carrying around him, he actually seemed to hold more importance than an ordinary driver.
"Coming," she called out halfway to the door and slightly increased her walking speed as she passed through the curtain of beads, something that really captivated Melissa.
The door opened and Melissa stood up in alarm. She'd have to be crazy not to recognize the scent. Even though she'd only met him twice, his presence was enough to leave a lasting presence on her senses.
"Good evening dad," she heard Arabella say as the person entered.
The person replied with a grumble and then spoke. "You didn't tell me you'd be having guests today, and such an important guest it is."
Melissa sat down and relaxed, it seems everyone else had also noticed who it was. Melissa exhaled and just stuffed more meat into her mouth as slow as she could. She knew she was about to get into a whole new trouble. She drank the juice that had been served with the entire menu. She then stood up and started to pack her plates, trying to at least be useful- she was now a lot less comfortable with people doing things for her but as it would seem, packing her own plates to the kitchen was a cardinal sin.
"Stop that," Margaret and Beatrice said in unison. They both glanced at her and regarded her with a mean countenance.
"Okay, jeez," she said, dropping the plates. There were times when she was confused on who Luna was, was it her or everyone else around her.
Everyone else ate slowly, as their uncanny guest sat in the living room with Arabella, discussing unimportant things with her. Melissa on the other hand was shaping up to face the man, not because she intended to fight him or anything, but she just wanted to prepare herself mentally because she knew he'd try to get to her.
After they all finished eating, Richard and Margaret packed the dishes to the kitchen and -the others headed outside to the living room.
The newcomer stood up almost immediately. He was dressed in a formal suit and he was holding a cane in his hand to probably support himself while walking. He turned to her and bowed down lowly. "Your majesty,"
"The Infernal," Melissa replied to him with assertiveness and a bit of coyness.
"It is really good to meet again, the last time we met our meeting had been cut short by unsavory circumstances," he smiled. "Let us hope we meet and depart in a lighter mood today," he said with a smile.
Melissa nodded, the last time they'd met truly she'd been shot on stage and she'd have to escape with her life after being shot on an open stage. Though that day seemed to have cemented her strength as a ruler and helped her gain extreme favor among the masses, so it wasn't a terrible loss.
"You are right," Melissa confirmed, smiling, the fakest smile she could muster up was plastered on her face like an awkward makeover. "I do hope so too, in fact we wouldn't mind being on our way now, we are in a bit of a rush," she told him.
"Oh," he paused. "That is sad, I was hoping we could actually talk before you left, I normally hadn't expected meeting you at my daughters but now that we've met, I would love the opportunity to speak with you about some important things,"
Melissa could sense his emotions and she was amazed. He was a little calmer today and reserved, his emotion unlike the stormy rage it always seemed to possess, it was more or less a calmed storm now. She knew she didn't want to do anything to stir that storm, so she nodded with a smile. "I suppose I could spare a minute or two for the Infernal," she smiled back..
He nodded at her with a smile then turned to Margeret who was still sipping a glass of alcohol and seemed to be explaining to Avalors how to take alcohol and not get drunk. "Margaret, hello," he said.
"If you greet me one more time I will shove a fork down your throat," Margaret replied in annoyance.
He chuckled. "You are still like this," he smiled with a wave of his hand. "I hope you get over it."
Eruca squinted her face and couldn't help but smile a bit. The relationship among the three of them was complex, sure but they all seem to feel settled in one another's presence. Arabella was given off a cheerful feeling, compared to the settled and fair emotions she seemed to have been emitting all day. Margaret was giving off a rather happy feeling altogether, despite saying she would kill him, she felt really excited to see him.
In a way all these made Melissa miss her own parents and her brother. She wondered what kind of relationship they would be having with each other now. Though she soon shelved the thought and glanced at the Infernal.
The Infernal nodded at her. "Would you mind walking with me, your majesty?" He asked.
"No," she said and they both started to walk outside, instinctively Richard followed her but she telepathically told him not to. She understood a bit of political gestures and politics now. If she'd allowed him to follow her, she was showing that she couldn't trust the Infernal. To build a slightly stronger relationship with any political member, you have to present yourself as trusting and trustworthy yourself. Even though neither of you are into trust, you still had to present that air.
"Your majety," the Infernal said once they were outside. "I need your help," he said.
