Edwina was completely taken aback by his out of chart question. She was stunned, shocked, and speechless by the choice of his words.

How could she make a comparison between them? One was her soulmate and the other was her abductor who was keeping her caged to seek justice for his belated mate. To make a comparison, at least he had to be her lover, was she?

Besides, Edwina believed that Ace was never going to take such a horrible way to seek revenge on Hades. She believed her mate and had an understanding that an underground attack wasn't his way. However, who knew the truth?

Silence descended between them. Each second, Hades's eyes began to grow darker in shades. He was waiting for her answer impatiently. Edwina's pale lips parted, whispering the truth of her heart,
" Ace is never going to...Ahhh.."

She let out a choked breath, his hands pressed around her throat. He was choking her painfully. Her eyes snapped open wide, watching the killing intent in his eyes. She coughed vigorously under his clutch. Hades's voice growled at her face, still choking her out of rage,
" You lie next to me but you have your mate in your heart always, don't you?"

Edwina sucked a painful breath, tears welling in her eyes. She smelt a burning jealousy behind his words. Inhaling another deep breath, she managed to blurt furiously,
" Why..why..does it.. bother you..."

Hades released his grip in a shot, and reality kicked him hard after hearing the bitter truth from her lips. It shouldn't be a matter to him. They had no such relationship except master and Mistress. That kind of relationship was completely based on sex without having any emotions.

But the fire in his heart was expanding aggressively. The thought of having someone in her heart was killing him slowly. Without a word, he gripped her head hard to pull for a kiss.

Edwina let out a startled groan, his lips sucking her hard until she began to turn wet from his hot, feverish kiss. He responded with a growl, kissing between,
" Compensation.. Rewards...for saving me.."

Hot tears gathered on her thick eyelashes. He made his intentions clear that he was kissing her only because she saved him from the attack. Involuntarily, she tried to protest his kiss, pushing and probing until the heat became unbearable. Hades's hand slid between her thighs, going upward to cup her sex but a knock interrupted the heated passion,
" My king!! We have found a dead body!! We need your supervision and it's pretty urgent."

Both of them were still panting. Edwina pushed her legs together to hide the smell of her dripping arousal. Hades replied in an annoying voice,
" Coming!"

Edwina sat there in a daze until the door was closed again and she was all alone with her thoughts.

Angelina paced to the dark corridor anxiously. This quarter was separated from the main castle and was specifically reserved for Alpha Duncan. As the king's favourite, obviously, he enjoyed the best privilege a member could ever have.

When Angelina arrived, fuming in rage, Duncan was smoking lazily in the corridor. Upon her arrival, he gave her a crooked smile. Angelina blurted without suppressing her anger anymore,
" Have you seen it now? Can you see now how important she is in his life? Are you still going to stay silent and watch our plans getting ruined?"

Duncan dragged a long puff from his cigar. Leaning against the railings, he replied with a smirk,
" Who said that I am sitting here in silence? Do you think that it was easier to harm Edwina?"

Angelina was flabbergasted by his suggestive words. Her voice lowered, whispering in disbelief,
" Did you mean that the attack..it..it was prepared by you?"

Duncan didn't give a wise answer. But his smile told that it was prepared by him. However, Angelina wasn't happy with his judgment. After all, the attack was aimed at Hades. He could have been hurt badly instead of Edwina. Angelina gritted her words out, huffing,
" We had a deal. How come Hades is involved here? I just wanted to harm Edwina."

Duncan chuckled in sarcasm at her concern. She was backstabbing Hades. On the other hand, she was worrying about him too. Duncan responded with a snort, throwing the cigarette away,
" Don't be so saint! I knew that Edwina was going to stop the attack at any cost. Now, your path is easier than before."

Angelina growled, furrowing her brows together,
" Easier? Hades has become closer to Edwina. I saw the concern in his eyes. I don't understand what you are implying."

Duncan replied with a smirk, darkening his gaze at the stupid woman ahead of him,
" Fool! You will have to pass the blame on to Edwina. Hades should believe that Edwina arranged this attack. The rest will be done by me."

Angelina's eyes shone up immediately. A vicious smile broke into her face as she promised before taking her leave,
" You are a genius, Alpha Duncan. I will prepare everything right away."

The guards were all dumbfounded when they saw their Beta and Princess, planning to have combat. Laura looked furious, and warned Cohen seriously,
" I have killed my own mate. Do you think that you can save your ass from me, Cohen?"

Cohen looked up at her, expressionless. He was determined to teach her a lesson today. He welcomed her heartily,
" Very well, Your Highness but you are also forgetting that I led the most powerful pack of Wolverton World."

Laura's expression sank as she clenched her teeth together. Her wolf flared up in rage, ready to fight against him hand in hand. She growled, aiming to punch at his face,

" Go Die, Cohen!"

After a round of wild fighting, Laura got bruises on her face. She was mad after being punched a few times. Damn it! She thought that she could win against her.

Cohen held her hands up in the air, crossed together as he said with a smirk,
" I told you to behave, Princess but you don't listen to me."

Laura barked, impressed by his strength in her arms,
" Why should I listen to your command when my brother doesn't order me around?"

She gave him a hard push after spitting those words. Her eyes were glowing in rage. Cohen furrowed at the stubborn princess unhappily, scoffing getting back to his fighting mood,
" Very well! Then you should dream of winning against me!"

Laura was a hella proud girl. After her mate's demise, she took charge of an entire pack and managed it successfully. Before marriage, she worked in the ministry. So, she was quite certain that she wasn't going to lose against Cohen.

Laura lifted her leg to kick at his face. However, Cohen blocked it as well, even holding her thigh up in the air. He narrowed his eyes at her helplessly and pushed the leg down swiftly. But Laura didn't stop and she aimed straight at his groin.

The guards hardly held back their laughter. In their eyes, it was nothing but a good show. Only a few of them noticed that Beta Cohen was actually playing with him. He intentionally avoided hurting her vital parts. Not only that he seemed to enjoy making her angry too much. According to Laura's character, whenever she failed, she got furious and attacked Cohen violently.

Cohen's expression turned sour after she blocked her leg from hurting his groin. Pressing on her thigh harder, he retorted through his gritted teeth,
" Just give up, Princess! If I fight back, you won't have any bones left."

Laura wasn't a woman to give up so easily. She sneered, glaring at his calm expression,
" What? Scared?"

Cohen sighed heavily and figured out that she wasn't going to give up. To let her taste his strength, he put pressure on the thigh that he was holding. Laura's bone on that spot was slightly cracked and she let out a soft cry of pain.

Her face turned pale in pain and anger. He was definitely trying to lower her spirit. Whatever, it was indeed the truth that she couldn't win against her no matter how much she tried. Cohen's body was trained hard regularly. Not only that he shifted regularly which increased his stamina a lot.

Just when she was thinking of retreating, a wicked idea flashed across her eyes. Under everyone's watchful eyes, Laura pulled Cohen closer all of a sudden and pressed her lips against him.

All the limbs of his body froze in shock. He even forgot to fight back momentarily. Using his distraction, Laura kicked hard on his stomach. He fell down miserably and watched her victorious smile still in a daze.

Cohen shouted, feeling his cheeks turning hot,
" That's.. that's a cheating..You.."

Laura winked at him first, let out a laugh before leaving,
" Everything is fair in love and war. Humph!"

Cohen swore behind her th

" You will pay for this princess! How dare you.. steal my first kiss..Damn Woman!!"
