Chapter 29 A meal invitation

Suzette's car was parked in the company's underground garage, so if she wanted to go out that night, she had to pick her car up.

After talking to Lee for a while, Suzette directly returned back to the company.

Suzette had done tasks of today, anyway. At least, she ensured that she got Ruby's scenes. Compared with other contestants on the scene, it could found that Ruby was the most perfect actress for the role.

"Roderick, I am going to pick up Lawrence first," she looked at him.

"OK!" Roderick said.

In private, Suzette was always to call him Mr. Shaw at his request.

It seemed that Roderick was very pleased with such an affectionate form of address.

"Right! I'll send you the address later," he said.

That day, Suzette came back home earlier than usual.

Mabel was so surprised to see her come back, "Why does madam go home so early today?" she asked.

"Well, Mabel. You don't need to prepare a dinner tonight," she said, "I'll take Lawrence out to dinner."

Mabel nodded and said, "Yes, madam. I'll be back tomorrow morning."

Suzette agreed with her.

In fact, she had rented a very large house, equipped with a nanny's room. But Mabel usually went home to take care of her kids if nothing happened.

After she left, Suzette did not find her son in the hall.

She stood there, breathing softly, and then went straight into the room, just in time to see her kids on a video call.

Suzette stepped forward with her eyebrows frowned.

"Lawrence, do you know it is time for Amy to go to bed now?" she said, "How could you bother your younger sister?"

"Sorry, mom. I was just a little missing Amy." he gave an answer.

She rubbed her brows and then looked at Amy in the video.

"Mom, don't blame my brother," Amy said, "It is my fault. Because I can't fall asleep."

Suzette sighed, "Well, don't do it again. It is time for you to have a rest, sweetheart. Listen to me, hang up the video now."

Although she was eager to have a good chat with her daughter, she was worried about her health.

Lawrence lovably said goodbye to Amy. As the video was about to hang up, suddenly, Amy made a sweet remark.

"Dear, my brother! Remember our promise!" Amy said.

When Suzette intended to ask what the promise was, the video was cut in an instant.

Suzette confusedly asked, "What promise have you made with Amy just now?"

"It's a secret. I can't tell you, mom." Lawrence chuckled.

Anyway, it was a promise between Lawrence and Amy.

"All right!"

Without further questions, Suzette urged Lawrence to dress his clothes and said, "I'll take you out to dinner after a while."

When heard about eating out, Lawrence had an invisible sense of resistance.

"I would like to eat mom's cooking," he said.

Suzette used to have a hard life in the past, but she always did the cooking by herself for her kids so as to save money and keep healthy. Gradually, her cooking had greatly improved at that time.

So Lawrence and Amy are completely addicted to her delicious food.

Actually, Suzette hadn't cooked herself for a long time.

She felt very guilty about it, as she had no time and sometimes she was too tired after work.

"Sorry, my baby. I always neglected you," she said, "Now, I am going to fail to keep an appointment tonight, OK?"

Lawrence gave her a look, and noticed something important in her words.

"Who is going to make an appointment with you, mom?" Lawrence asked in surprise.

"It was the Mister who helped you out last time." Suzette gently stroked his head.

Hardly had Suzette finished her words when Lawrence made a change of his attitude right away and then pushed her out the door.

"Mom, if he invites us to have dinner, we cannot refuse this appointment." Lawrence said, "Now I am going to get dressed immediately."

After pushing Suzette out of the door, he spat out his tongue happily, thanks God that he had asked some details of the dinner. Otherwise, if his younger sister knew that he had lost such an important chance, it would be pretty miserable!

Standing outside the door, Suzette was at a loss and didn't know why his attitude changed so quickly.

And he did treat Roderick a little differently.

Suzette knew that Lawrence was a very smart and cool child, sometimes he would act very cute to her, but when treating some unfamiliar people, he always represented coolly and reservedly.

So, what did Roderick do to make Lawrence treat him so differently?

Before she thought carefully, while Lawrence, collocating with his small suits, had already got dressed.

Suzette couldn't help laughing.

"Lawrence, why are you dressed in formal?" she asked.

"I want the Mister to know that I attach great importance to this meal," he said seriously.

Suzette shook her head with a smile.

Then she dressed herself simply, and went out with Lawrence.

That way, Roderick had given the address for dinner.

Century Garden.

She was a little surprised to see this address.

Suzette used to work and live here, so she still knew something about Century Garden.

Century Garden was an extremely noble and luxurious place.

So Suzette felt a little embarrassed but quickly realized that he had already made a reservation. And if not to keep the appointment, it would be quite humiliating.

"Let's go!"

After a while, Suzette went out with Lawrence.

It took about twenty minutes to get to Century Garden in her small car.

The place was pretty large and decorated splendidly.

Suzette didn't want to get into trouble on such a big and formal occasion, so she intended to make a detour for them with Lawrence.

But little did she know that Sharlene, her ex-mother-in-law, would be here now!

It was like a family out for dinner.

Sharlene caught Suzette and her son with her keen eyes, and ran pattering over right away. It seemed that she was trying to save face after being humiliated at the restaurant last time.

"Well, little bitch. You brought a bastard to such luxurious place," she said, "You must be kept as a mistress in those years."

Such vulgar words made her heart skip a beat, and the first thing she did was to look at her son, Lawrence.

It was absolutely difficult to have such a lovely child. She must not be allowed her son to be stigmatized as a bastard.

"Sharlene, watch your mouth! I still have the video, which recorded your wicked and unscrupulous things!" she said angrily, "If you want to save your face, apologize to Lawrence right now!"

Sharlene flashed Suzette a nasty look and said, "Urgh! Why am I to apologize?"

Just then, Lawrence came up with a wit idea.

Suddenly, he sat down on the ground and began to cry in a low voice, and then the voice began louder and louder.

Both Suzanne and Camden were frightened about what they had seen when they arrived at the place.

Suzette got flustered in an instant.

Lawrence, who had always been so strong and rarely represented his vulnerability, was crying sadly in public now.

Suzette felt the pain in the heart at that moment.
