Chapter 28 Successful performance

Roderick was here for verification.

When Suzette started working, he had someone reporting to him on her performance and knew that she would bring Ruby for this audition.

He thought that Suzette would abandon this after what had happened during lunch. Come to think of it, he has yet to figure out this woman…

Just nice, he was good friends of several years with Warren.

He came for a look as a friend and shouldn't invite too much attention.

But he didn't know that his looks had already attracted the attention of numerous women.

He was unaware of how attractive he was.

"I'm Ruby Cash from Sky Royal Entertainment."

Ruby stood on the stage and did a simple self-introduction. This was also Suzette's insistence. She doesn't want her to say anything unnecessary and just get on with the performance.

At this point, her performance was at its peak.

After all the man who she was fond of was looking at her, she must perform her best.

With Suzette's on-site training, she went into character very quickly.

Within several minutes, she was fully engrossed in her role and she even received applause when she concluded.

Suzette was watching below and she knew that she succeeded in getting the role.

She calmly smiled in satisfaction.

At this moment, a familiar voice came over.

"Hmph, she's so used to depending on a man that this role comes naturally to her."

Suzette looked in the direction of the voice and saw that it was Suzanne.

But then she was quickly relieved.

In order to be discovered, many budding artists will grasp this opportunity to audition for the role and Suzanne was one of them.

Except that the role she was auditioning for was different from Ruby's.

Though it was also a supporting role, it was an ordinary role.

If she acted well, then everything's fine. If she didn't and the TV drama became popular, all it'll happen was she will get some criticism.

Initially, Suzette also looked at this role but she also rejected it because it was difficult to grasp it well.

When Ruby received the applause, she winked at Roderick and then came down the stage.

At this moment Warren joked.

"It looks like your company's actress is interested in you."

Roderick rolled his eyes and didn't reply.

His gaze shifted and looked at Suzette. She already left the crowd and was obviously looking for Ruby.

Warren also noticed.

He was said with envy, "If only Citylink Productions could hire Suzette. It's said that she has a way of controlling the artists."

Roderick laughed softly, "Forget about it, you enjoy your show. I'm leaving now."

When Ruby and Suzette met, she said arrogantly, "I'm a natural actor, so you better spend more effort to find me lead actress roles."

She had already forgotten how Suzette coached her for this audition.

At this point, Lindsey could not endure it and wanted to say something for Suzette but was stopped by her.

She signaled for him not to say anything to avoid any unnecessary conflicts.

Just as they were discussing about this audition, Roderick spoke, "Suzette."

He called her name affectionately and in a casual manner.

Ruby who was smiling suddenly became upset.

When she joined this company, she had her sights set on Roderick. Though Roderick has never taken notice of her, she didn't mind because Roderick never paid attention to any of the women at the company.

But now it appeared that Roderick's attitude towards Suzette was different than the rest.

Ruby became alerted immediately.

She quickly stood forward of Suzette and just nice her make up was done very well. She stood and looked innocently at Roderick and said gently, "Director Shaw, what do you think of my audition today? I didn't let you down, did I?"

Ruby was the only one from Sky Royal Entertainment who came for the auditions today.

Ruby was thinking if Roderick came because of her. Her thoughts ran wild at the possibilities.

As she dwelled in her imaginations, she missed Roderick's dismissive expression.

She was blocking Suzette from him.

"Please move aside."

Roderick said as politely as he could.

Initially Ruby didn't react to it but when she finally realized that he was here for Suzette, her heart was filled with jealousy.

Even if she was jealous, she could only step aside.

"You didn't have your lunch, this is for you." He sighed in relief after seeing Suzette's beautiful cheeks.

He handed a take-out meal to Suzette.

What happened during lunch at the restaurant made Roderick's heartache for Suzette.

She struggled overseas while having to raise a kid alone. This coupled with being conned into a marriage, caused her to have to continue to fight…

Suzette looked in surprise at the lunch box and laughed, "I ate some bread at the office but since you got it especially for me, I'll gladly take it."

She didn't reject his goodwill.

The atmosphere between them was very sweet.

Lindsey wanted to say something but decided to keep quiet and stand aside.

Ruby saw that they were having a nice conversation and interjected as she stepped forward, "Director Shaw, I'm also hungry…"

Roderick unexpectedly said, "Lindsey, take her out for a meal."

Lindsey immediately snapped into attention and said, "Yes Sir!"

Lindsey took the unwilling Ruby out of the room.

When she saw that Ruby leaving the room, Suzette couldn't resist and joked, "Looks like there are many women who have their eyes on you!"

Roderick laughed bitterly.

That's why he always works behind the scenes and takes a reserved passage to his office.

He can avoid many issues in this manner.

He changed the subject, "The audition looked very successful today. Due to her temper, Ruby has never performed to her peak. You just spent a day and was able to coach her to this extent. I'm glad I chose you for the job!"

Suzette laughed, "In fact, it took me less than a day."

"Then let's celebrate, shall we go out tonight?"

Suzette shook her head, "I need to take care of my son."

Roderick thought about the feisty kid he met the other day and his heart softened.

He seemed to have an affection for Lawrence.

"Why don't you bring your son along? Both of you just came back from overseas. You should also take your son out to explore the surroundings."

Suzette hesitated.

After coming back, Suzette was busy with the house and didn't bring Lawrence out to play.

He had been very obedient all this while.

"In that case, I'll go back to pick up my son. Give me the address and we'll meet you there."

She also wanted to take him around before school began, especially when she wasn't so busy at work.

"It's decided then."
