Chapter 21 Dismissal
To everyone's surprise, Roderick showed up in the company.
A commotion stirred outside the office, but since the boss was present, no one acted too obvious.
Mandy was even more surprised. She tried hard to straighten her expression, but it gave people an uneasy impression.
"Mr. Shaw! I..."
She tried to explain, but she suddenly became desperate when she saw the depressed look in Roderick's eyes.
This time, she really screwed up.
Roderick glanced at Mandy coldly, and then stared at the broken teacup on the floor.
He immediately stepped forward, grabbed Suzette's arm, and angrily said, "Come with me."
He dragged and left with Suzette, who was still in a daze.
Lee stood in place dumbfounded, what about her?
At this time, Ken Buck, the President's Assistant, walked in. He routinely pushed his black glasses frame and said, "Mandy, please come with me to HR; you've been terminated."
Ken would take care of the rest.
Mandy stared at Ken in disbelief and said as she trembled, "Don't you know who my father is? He's on the board of directors! How dare you!"
Ken stated matter-of-factly, "He already tendered his resignation. Also, we pulled out all company records of your past violations. If you don't want to go to court, please come with me to HR quietly."
Mandy was left completely speechless.
She slumped in her chair.
Lee looked on as if he was watching a movie; no one in the office liked Mandy.
Meanwhile, Suzette staggered behind Roderick, from the elevator and all the way to the president's office.
"Mr. Shaw, I... I'm fine, you can let go now."
Many colleagues were still looking on, so she feared they might misunderstand.
Roderick took a deep breath and released her hand after they arrived at the office.
"I'm sorry for letting this happen, it's my fault; I should have properly introduced who you are."
"It's alright; I am new here, and I want to start from scratch."
Suzette shook her head and said that she didn't mind, but she didn't like the thought that bullying occurred in the company.
As she thought of this, the pain on her arm suddenly felt worse.
Roderick took notice and walked directly to the cabinet next to him. He had medicine stored in his office.
"Go to the bathroom inside and rinse with cold water."
"Thank you."
Suzette turned around and entered the next room. As she glanced around the room, she knew that this was where Roderick usually rested in the office.
The decoration inside was simple, but it gave off a feeling of comfort.
She quickly headed into the bathroom and turned on the faucet to rinse the redness on her arm.
The wait was torture.
After rinsing for about ten minutes, Suzette's arm felt better. When she came out of the room, Roderick was ready with medicine and waited for her.
"Come here." He said softly.
Suzette was a little embarrassed, "I'll do it myself."
Roderick ignored her and grabbed her towards him, then he carefully applied the medicine.
It was cold to the touch, and she let out a small gasp.
"I'm in the wrong with what happened today. Please give me a chance to apologize."
He said, and Suzette stayed silent.
After he finished applying the medicine, Roderick gave the ointment to Suzette, "Three times a day, remember to apply it."
"Thank you."
Suzette did not refuse. If she repeatedly refused, it will make the other person uncomfortable. Sometimes, acceptance was also a form of social etiquette.
"If it's okay, I'll go to work first. What happened with Mandy today won't happen again, right?"
Before leaving, Suzette asked anxiously.
Today was her first day at the company; to think she'd encounter something like this.
Roderick showed an apologetic smile, "It won't happen again, I already fired her."
"Fired?" Suzette was surprised.
Although she hated Mandy for what she did, Suzette didn't think that Roderick would handle the situation like this, and... Did he fully first understand what happened between them?
After all, he arrived too suddenly.
Roderick quickly understood her thoughts and chuckled, "You don't need to be so nervous, I didn't dismiss her solely because of this incident."
He didn't say anymore. Although Suzette was puzzled, she didn't ask.
"Then I will return to work first."
After a brief comment, Suzette left the president's office.
Roderick looked on at her back until she disappeared, and then pulled his sight away.
He looked down at his hand.
While he held her, the soft-touch reminded him of the absurd memory from five years ago.
So far, he had not yet found any trace of that woman.
When Suzette returned downstairs, the atmosphere in the office was a little weird. She took a look at Mandy's office, which was already emptied.
She gathered her thoughts and returned to her own office.
Lee was inside. The milk tea Suzette asked Lee to buy was already distributed to everyone in the office, and they all expressed their thanks.
"Suzette, are you okay? Thank you for what happened just now."
If it wasn't for Suzette, he would have been the one who got smashed.
Suzette waved her hand, "I'm fine."
Lee breathed a sigh of relief, "Assistant Ken asked me to hand you the profile of the celebrity you will handle."
Suzette took the profiles and asked casually as she browsed through, "Lee, do you know why Roderick fired Mandy?"
Lee was a huge gossiper in the company. He almost had all the gossip on hand, and he knew a lot about the entertainment industry.
He shut the office door quietly, then whispered, "Mandy got in because she had connections. Her father was one of the company's directors, but he resigned after the company found out he was part of some shady deals. As for Mandy, well..."
Lee paused, then continued, "Mandy also had some sly dealings and a bad temper. This time she sold Mr. Shaw's photos to the magazine. This is enough to file a lawsuit against her."
At first, Suzette didn't understand Lee's explanation, but then it hit her.
All employees of Sky Royal Entertainment had to sign a contract, with a particular clause that bound them all.
The clause was that Roderick's photos cannot get out, especially to the press or the media. Up to now, no one knew how the president of Sky Royal Entertainment looked like.
But Mandy crossed this line.
She made a deal with a paparazzi in order to pay off her gambling debts in Macau.
She sold Roderick's photos to the paparazzi for money.
Mandy may have thought her actions were flawless, but it didn't take long to get exposed.
Suzette was shocked.
