War Begins
“Let’s go back to the palace hall now. I won’t let those damn vampires rule this world. No matter what, they must be defeated tonight,” said Stevan with a sharp gaze. The two of them immediately left.
The atmosphere in the front yard of the palace was so quiet. All the soldiers and royal guards were hiding in an unknown place. Edward and the other vampires had now arrived in front of the gates of the Moonbright Kingdom palace.
“Strange. Why does it look so quiet here? Is the palace's defense that weak?" Edward muttered suspiciously. However, suddenly, two male lycans dressed as royal guards walked towards the gate, causing Edward and the other vampires to hide.
"I really feel a significant change since this kingdom was replaced by King Stevan. Even before his arrival, security in this palace was very tight and conducive. Even when the king's position was empty and was temporarily led by the queen mother, everything was still safe. But, look now. Many soldiers have been removed from their positions. Hopefully this kingdom is still safe and free from enemies," said one of the sturdy guards.
"What you said is very true. King Stevan is too relaxed and only thinks about love matters. It's very unfortunate," added the other guard.
Edward, of course, heard the conversation between the two guards. He felt relieved that his question was finally answered. A slight grin began to appear on his face. "The victory of the vampire nation is in sight," he muttered confidently.
As the two guards were chatting casually while guarding the main gate of the Moonbright Kingdom palace, Edward and his group suddenly appeared and immediately attacked them both. Without having to use much energy, the two guards were immediately defeated and killed on the spot.
"Gosh, is this the strength of the palace guards? So easy to conquer," said one of the vampires with a satisfied smile.
"Open the gate!" Edward ordered his subordinate vampires. The main gate of the Moonbright Kingdom palace was successfully opened. Edward and the other vampires begin to enter the palace courtyard.
Step by step, Edward and his pack of vampires, numbering around a hundred, enter the courtyard of the Moonbright Kingdom palace. His gaze observed every detail of the surrounding situation. His eyebrows knitted together, feeling confused by what he saw now. "Is the palace security this bad? I don't see any soldiers or royal guards roaming around here at all," he muttered.
However, suddenly, ten soldiers appear in front of Edward and the other pack of vampires. Without further ado, Edward ordered his ten vampire subordinates to attack the ten lycans in front of him. A fierce battle ensued between a group of lycans and vampires. Edward was on alert, afraid of sudden attacks from all directions.
A smile was etched on his pale face when he saw his men successfully defeat the ten lycans. "The further we get, I'm sure we'll win. Not to mention the addition of Diego and his group, who will join us soon," he said, which was responded to with an enthusiastic smile by the other vampires.
Edward and the pack of vampires stepped further into the very large palace courtyard. His arrogant face looked very dismissive of the security of the Moonbright Kingdom palace, which was filled with soldiers who were so weak compared to the pack of vampires he had brought with him at that time, whose strength had truly been tested.
"Five of you, follow me to the king's room. And the others start to scatter! Kill all the lycans in this palace," said Edward arrogantly. They started to move towards their respective destinations. However, when they had only taken three steps, they smelled garlic, making them feel nauseous. A smell they hated so much. They immediately put on masks to minimize the smell that pierced their noses.
Suddenly, there was the sound of applause from in front of them. Edward and the other vampires were very surprised by what they saw now. The appearance of King Stevan, along with his guards and royal soldiers, who began to come out of hiding. Edward's mental state began to be disturbed. It turned out that the number of royal soldiers was so large, and the pack of vampires he brought was not comparable to their number.
"Welcome, oh honored guests," said Stevan, smiling. He stepped closer to the group of vampires while the royal soldiers began to prepare their weapons.
When he was standing in front of Edward and the other vampires, Stevan then looked at the lycans who were already lying unconscious on the ground. "Ouhh, it looks like you have succeeded in killing the prisoners who have caused a riot in the kingdom. I, as the king of the Moonbright Kingdom, would like to thank all of you for helping to clean up the pests," he said with a smile.
Edward's two hands clenched tightly. He couldn't believe that he had fallen into Stevan's trap. "Oh shit!" he muttered while staring at Stevan.
"What's wrong with your face? Are you still not satisfied? Do I need to provide a lot of blood for you as a thank you?" asked Stevan, deliberately to provoke emotions.
"What if I want your blood?" said Edward with a grin.
