Paul raised his eyebrows, giving Liam a wary glance.
Liam smirked and shrugged his shoulders, causing Paul to shake his head repeatedly.
"What about Michelle's cousin being missing? I am sure that clicks your mind, right?" Paul said seriously.
"Cut the crap, Paul. I know you are well informed of my moves since I am with your sister. But one thing I will say to you is that I will do everything to protect my wife and son... My family at large. I'd advise you to give up on convincing me otherwise."
Liam gritted his teeth, his words more of a threat.
"I am not sure him missing at the moment is a smart move, though. But just do whatever you want, man. Shout whenever you need help. We are more than best friends." Paul gently patted Liam's shoulder, his expression warm.
"He is not missing anymore... You better keep your notifications on. It is about to go wild in River City." He said coolly, him and Paul exchanging a knowing glance.
"I am in it for the drama, especially if it involves Lionel's kind lad." Paul teased, and they both chuckled.
"I need to go back to my wife."
He smirked at his brother-in-law and pushed the door inside, with Paul following behind.
This time again, Liam was to spend the night at the hospital with his wife. He had asked the nurses for an extra bed so he could sleep right next to her.
The next morning during breakfast, Sam received three voice notes from Nancy, who was explaining how she met up with Aaron and the way she managed to humble him and keep him from getting inside the hospital.
"You did a good job, I don't know how to thank you." Sam replied with a soft tone and sent a heart sticker along with the voice note.
She put her phone aside and glanced at the man who had just sat across her. Damon was wearing a brown suit, a matching wristwatch on his hand making his smooth hand glow. His hair was just brushed back nicely.
As for Samantha, she wore a cotton brown dress with peach heels on her feet. Her face was beautiful without makeup and with just a normal lip gloss.
"Morning, you slept well?"
She asked casually, and he raised his head.
"Yeah, you?"
She gave a slight nod.
She parted her lips as he buttered his toasted bread, his focus on the work he was doing with his hands.
"Can I have some?"
She asked softly, and he pushed his plate of three buttered bread slices towards her.
Their eyes met as she took one slice, with a sweet smile plastered on her face.
"Thanks... uhm,"
She paused and munched on her food, the same way he did.
"Do you have something to say? Relax, I don't bite people." She gave a slow nod while keeping the same expression.
"I see that we are wearing similar outfits. I am thinking perhaps you might have spied on me so you could dress up like that."
Disbelief crossed her face when he gently shook his head to refuse.
"I have no reason to match with you, Sam. We are not an item, remember?"
His expression grew solemn.
"I know, Damon, but that also did not stop you from going under. If I was another girl, I would ask what are we, but just know that I don't like you that way."
Her temper failed her as she shot back at him, causing him to gasp at her reaction.
"Damn, are you this sensitive? It was just a silly joke from me!" He scolded, his eyes slightly widened in shock.
"Who makes jokes without smiling?"
She protested while sipping her tea.
"That would be me. It's either you get used to me or not, but with your temperament... I don't think you will survive anything."
His jaw tightened while reprimanding her.
Samantha's lashes flickered, her face falling as she realized she was the wrong one, even if what Damon had said was still very unnecessary.
"I am sorry, I tend to be super dramatic when I'm on my period."
She uttered in guilt.
"Alright. Shout out to Cici if you ever need something for cramps." He pushed back his chair, rising to his feet after wiping his mouth.
"I will keep that in mind, but how do you know about all this?" Her eyes narrowed at him.
"You want me to tell you the truth?"
He smirked coolly.
"Yeah."
She replied curiously.
"Lisa used to come here a few times, and she would experience those extreme abdominal pains during her periods. So Cici had a way to cure that. She is a real legend."
He pressed his lips and slipped his hands into his pockets while studying her expression.
"Well, I've thought about it. Is she the only one you have brought here?"
She raised her eyebrows.
"Yep, any other questions?"
He sensed hesitation in her glare.
"Yes, I am keen to know why you and Lisa broke up. I mean, she is pretty, an A-list model... Popular and so on. Why did you have to jump from her to Laura?"
Her questions cornered him as he frowned a bit before composing himself to mask his real reaction.
"I will repeat it again, Laura was just an escort, so are the others. Lisa is always on the streets. We wanted different things. Being an A-list model doesn't make one a good person. There are special qualities to focus on."
His mature response caused Sam to gape at him.
"You are indeed wise, Mr Bridge."
Amusement flickered across her face.
He took a few steps forward, preparing to leave the dining room.
"All the best with your presentation at the Smith Group. Paul can be quite a headache if he's your client. Make sure your team delivers the best today." He hummed a song as he got out of the room.
"Noted."
She mumbled under her breath.
