Chapter 0063:A Taste Of Her Own Madness.
That same morning, Diana had woken up to realize that Kelvin had left for work, without waking her up nor without dropping a note for her so that she could know that he had already left.
Something was definitely wrong and she could feel that it had something to do with her.
The thoughts of packing up breakfast for him crossed her mind, but his workplace was really far from Xavier's house. If she does that, she will have no other option than to take the day off.
But regardless, she took up her phone to call Kelvin only to receive the same treatment that she got yesterday. He wasn't picking up.
Now, he's deliberating doing this, and she can't stand his silence anymore. She noted that she will have to come back home early tonight, even if she will have to beg Xavier that she's leaving early today, she will do that so that she could go meet him at his workplace then they can come together.
That's a good idea.
One that made her get up from the bed after taking her bath, she dressed up while humming a song to herself only to jump a bit when her phone started ringing.
With the hope that it was Kelvin calling back, she rushed for her phone only to be disappointed when she saw that it wasn't him but Jessica.
Without thinking twice, she answered the call with a bored tone, knowing fully well that Jessica will be the right person to talk to about what's going on between her and Kelvin. Although she doesn't like him, she will do anything just to see that she's happy.
“Girl, have you seen the news?” Jessica said in a high tone, that made Diana wonder what got her so antsy this morning.
“What news are you talking about?” She replied, fixing her pants buttons and pushing her hair back to pick up a hair brush.
“About Xavier, girl. You should be the one asking me about this and not the other way around, it's a disaster over here.”
Now, Diana was now worried. “What is it about Xavier that you are talking about?”she asked, but didn't wait for Jessica to say anything before she took the remote and turned on the television in the bedroom.
Right there, the early morning news was about Xavier abusing his girlfriend, the famous Model, Maryanne. It went further to explain that the abuse has been going on for a long time and there's this video at the hospital, where Xavier tried hurting the girl after she was admitted in the hospital.
To say that Diana was shocked was an understatement, he abused women? Just like Kelvin? He didn't seem like the type to do that?
Watching the news further, she saw how the models agency was threatening fire and brimstone at Xaviers agency, and demanding that they pay for the hospital bills and damage that Xavier has caused them.
Whereas, the public were demanding that Xavier makes an official statement about what's going on. From the look of things, things weren't favoring him and Anne's fans had already started protesting at the front of Xavier’s Agency.
“This is bad.” She muttered, not knowing what to believe because if there's anything that she believes is that, whenever a celebrity has a rumor, people tend to make it escalates into something else.
But right now, all evidence held against Xavier was open and clear to everyone, but for the fact that he hasn't said anything about the accusations laid against him made some of his fans fight back against Anne's Fans.
It was really chaotic on the Internet.
“I’m telling you, have you heard anything from him? Have you gone to work already?” Jessica asked. “James hasn't said anything yet about the project with him, but Linda has been acting out but i could say that it's because he didn't choose her. Anyway, the point is that i don't think it's safe for you to be anywhere near him, until things have been sorted out.”
“I don't know, he hasn't called or….”Diana tried explaining, only for her phone to peep. “Excuse me.” She said, going over the new message that she just got, it was Xaviers assistant, Jake, telling her about not coming to work for a few days because of the controversy.
“What is it?” Jessica asked.
“His assistant just texted me, i won't be coming over until further notice.”
“That's nice, then that means you will be coming straight to work now?” Jessica asked, excited. From her tone it was obvious that she has missed her a lot.
“I guess so,” Diana smiled. She has missed her too.
“I will let James know about the new change, meanwhile is there anything i have to prepare for you coming?” Jessica asked.
“Prepare what? Girl, bye.” Diana laughed , before cutting the call on her. The smile on her face died instantly, when she looked back at the television to see the news about Xavier going on.
Is he okay?
She thought?
She remembered that she had his number, due to the last time he came to visit her at Jessica's place. But then, she's not sure calling or texting to know if he's okay will work.
Maybe this wasn't a good time to call him, besides he's going to be super busy to spare her a minute of answering her calls. Since the men in her life had made it a habit of not picking up her calls.
Maybe Xavier is going to be different, regardless, Diana didn't try her luck. After all, she has no idea if the accusations against him are wrong after watching the hospital scene where he meant to grab Maryanne.
He might look Innocent, but he's not that innocent. Yet, why does she feel bad?
She didn't believe what was going on, because he has never for once raised his hands on her after rejecting her, nor did he take it upon himself to punish her after finding out that she lied to him the night they met and slept together, without her letting him know that she's married.
He's different.
The doorbell rang and it brought the young lady out of her thoughts, as she brushed her hair, rubbed her lipstick before going out to know who was at the door.
Kelvin doesn't need to knock on the door, because he has the passcode. She heard the door sound once again and looked at the monitor only to see Marianna, Kelvin's mom.
What the hell is she doing here?
Diana thought.
Kelvin is not here, neither does she have the time for her tantrums. Nevertheless, she's her mother-in-law, so she opened the door for her.
“How long was it going to take you to answer the door?” Marianna thundered, pushing her aside to enter inside the house as if it was her own.
Diana said nothing, she let out a deep breath before closing the door and went after the woman, who was looking around the house, she had no idea what she was looking for.
“I'm sorry, Ma. But if it's Kelvin that you are looking for, he's not at home right now.” She said in a haste, because she too has to leave for work.
“I want to talk to you.” Marianna said with an attitude that Diana didn't find funny. She knew that she was working and yet decided to come talk to her early this morning.
“I'm sorry but i was leaving for work, maybe another…” Diana tried explaining, but was rudely cut off by her rude mother-in-law.
“Then i will keep it short.” Marianna said, taking an envelope out of her bag and threw it on the floor where Diana stood. “That's ten million and a ticket to new Zealand, with more that will come after you leave my son alone.”
Diana scoffed at her actions. When will she ever give up? She was angry that Kelvin wasn't doing anything about his mother's attitude towards her.
“Is it not enough?” Marianna asked, not understanding the look on her face.
“Excuse me.” Diana said, going back to her bedroom to call Kelvin again, but he didn't pick up. That made her super mad, and she texted him about his mother being here and what she did.
After doing that, she went to the kitchen and took a bowl, filled it with cold water from the fridge, took a knife before coming back to the sitting room where Marianna was, with her back facing her.
The woman heard her footsteps and turned around, only for cold water to be poured on her and she let out an ear piercing scream.
“Have you lost your mind?!!” She yelled at Diana.
“Yes! Do you think that i'm still the same naive girl you could push around as you like?” Diana asked, before bringing out the knife that made Marianna scream, took her bag and started running out of the house.
“Get out!!” Diana screamed. She picked up the envelope and threw it at her, before closing the door, and let out a big huff.
So much for today being a good day for her! But she's glad that she gave her a taste of her own madness.
