Chapter 0060:False Accusations.

The flashing lights of the camera nearly blinded Xavier, the moment he stepped down from the car. The reporters that filled the entrance of the company struggled hard to get a statement from him over Anne’s predicament.

“Is it true that your relationship with Anne is over?” The first question came in but he ignored it, while the security were trying hard to pave a path for him to enter inside the company.

Xavier said nothing, he was angry at both Cheng and the stupid Anne who he knew that this was one of her ways to pay him back for cutting her off drastically.

“When will you give an official statement over the breakup, the two companies haven't said anything yet.”

“Is it true that you abused her, that’s why she’s in the hospital?”

This last statement made Xavier pause in his movement, as he turned to look at the reporter that just asked that silly question. Making sure to capture his face clearly, it was obvious that he’s trying to sabotage his career through this ridiculous accusation that he just brought.

Xavier might be many things but he’s not a woman beater, he hates and despises men that lay their hands on a woman. What good could come out of doing that to someone who’s strength isn't equal to your own?

He ignored the man before heading inside the elevator, this time he didn’t need anyone to tell him that he needed to meet up with Anne. Just to check if everything is okay with her, that’s the least he could do as a friend.

Of course they are friends, it’s not his fault that she wants something that he couldn’t give her. The call didn’t go through, clearly she’s been a brat again and not picking up.

Unfortunately, Jake wasn’t here with him for him to send him on an errand to check up on her. He will gladly do so as he’s hopelessly in love with her. But he’s at home to keep Diana company in case she needs something.

Talking about Diana, Xavier could still remember the look on her face yesterday when he walked in with Nora in his arms.

Was it disappointment?

Jealousy or relief?

That he saw was displayed in her eyes, but before he could entirely get what’s going on with her. She left.

The young man figured out that he had to get her comfortable around him, and he can’t do that without proving to her that he has moved on. That way he can get her to be friends with him.

Even if things don't later work out the way he planned, it was really selfish of him to wish that her marriage would fail but he couldn’t help it. After having his heart broken by his first love, Becky, he had vowed that he won’t commit to any woman again until she came.

Maybe it was the heavens that are trying to punish him for treating women like trash, by sending Diana, who was married, his way. He just didn’t know, had it been that he hasn’t gone through her file then he won’t know that she’s married. She doesn’t look like one, and that’s why he prayed that something happens and then she gets to separate from this said husband that he doesn’t know.

When the elevator door opened and he was coming closer to Cheng office, he could hear him yelling from his office, the door was slightly open, that's how he could hear what he was saying. The room was sound proofed.

He entered without knocking because he was already expecting him, and just like he expected the glare Cheng sent his way made him know that today is going to be a long day. He’s not the only one bothered about the reporters, it bothered Cheng too who was a workaholic.

After dropping the telephone down, he took a file and walked over to where Xavier was seated, not showing that he was bothered about what was happening. Ever since he came back, it’s been one problem or the other, which he’s now regretting why he supported him coming back.

He dropped the file on the table right in front of Xavier, then said. “ it’s the contract between you and Anne’s company, that’s the fee you have to pay for breaching the contract and…”

“I will pay for it, so stop bitching around.” Xavier said with an attitude, taking his own pen to sign the contract and as well send a message to his bank that Jake will come with a check issued to him.

“You know my worst mistake was letting you come back here, you should have just stayed abroad like you have always done rather than creating problems for me everyday.”

“I’m not a kid, rather am i your child you could dictate orders to anyhow, I specifically told you in the first place that i don’t want to have a shit to do with Anne. You are the one that forced me to do it, now face the consequences.” Xavier said, helping him to remember the day that he told him about Anne.

Cheng sighed exhaustedly. “Fine, since Anne isn’t the one you want, then that means there’s another woman in the picture. Who’s she?” He asked.

Xavier looked at him, trying to read his body language just to know if Jake had gone behind his back to tell him about Diana. But when he found nothing, he relaxed.

“Why does there have to be another woman?” He replied Cheng's question back with a question.

“You tell me, that’s the answer to your attitude now. But i must tell you Xavier, I can’t handle the press all alone if you can’t help out. Rumors are already circulating that you were abusive to her and that’s not nice for your new story coming up.”

“Anne is really going insane trying to get my attention.” Xavier smiled, there’s no other one he could think that could tip the reporters to say something trashy about him. That’s what a woman like her will do just to get back at him.

But surprisingly Cheng supported Ane instead of him. “ No, she has nothing to do with this, Anne is an angel that could barely hurt a fly.”

Xavier scoffed at his words, he doesn’t know the young lady at all. “Then you believe that i did abuse her? Do you believe the rumors?”

Cheng shrugged his shoulders, standing up to go to his chair. “I don’t know, you tell me. You always have bad histories with ladies, Xavier. This one is no different.”

Xavier became angry that he stood up to leave,”I will take care of the reporters myself, continue staying in the shadows just like you have always done.”

He didn’t wait for Cheng to say anything else and left his office, with only one thing in mind. He needed to see Anne!
