Chapter 0057;His Girlfriend.
It was six on the dot, and it was time to leave. After a stressful day having gone through the needed files about Xavier’s new story without any distractions like the first time, Diana could admit that he has grown up.
She didn’t see him today, neither did his assistant come to check up on her. The only way she was convinced that she was being watched was through the CCTV camera in the sitting room.
Xavier might not be here with her, but his presence was hardly unknown from the number of cameras in the sitting room, the hallway leading to the bathroom?
The place was like a fortress , and not just anyone would come into the house, be it a burglar regardless of it being just Xavier that was living alone.
As she was busy packing up to leave, her phone started to ring and when she saw who was calling she smiled.
Jessica.
“Hello, miss girl or would i say Mrs.” Jessica said, teasing her. It was obvious that she’s still trying hard to live around the fact that she wasn’t staying with her anymore .
“You haven’t been taking my calls since morning, i thought that something might have gone wrong.” Diana said. She was worried over nothing. During her break time, she had called Jessica for three good times but she didn’t pick up.
Did he forget to mention the part of Xavier ordering pizza, the maid that was in charge of the house had come in with what he provided, and as much as Diana tried declining it, it didn’t work because he was nowhere to be found.
She didn’t want to feel indebted to him, in as much as he came over to her house to apologize and suggested that they should be friends. She wasn’t stupid, this was a formal relationship between the both of them and she wants it to be that way.
They are from two different worlds, she’s a nobody while he’s a celebrity. She doesn’t want the media’s attention to be on her just yet. Especially not when she’s trying to achieve something for herself, so, it’s impossible to keep a relationship outside work with her boss, that’s what he is to her.
“No, I have been really busy, Diana. Thanks to you, Linda is taking her aggression out on everybody.” Jessica replied.
Jessica’s words brought her attention back to the call that they were making, her face scrunch up in concern. “What do you mean? Is she still making a fuss about the project?”
Jessica sighed. “You know the woman, Diana. The first report you brought back in about the story, she made sure to disagree with every single thing you wrote there. Girl, she’s serious about firing you..but she’s not James right?”
Just hearing what Jessica said was happening at work bothered her, it’s not like she had given the main report or the final report about the story. Yet, editor Lin won’t rest until she takes this project out of her hands.
But it’s sad that despite all that she’s trying to do, Xavier has already made his decision. He chooses her, and until she wakes up from her dream about taking this project from her, only then would she have peace of mind with the rest of the workers that she’s stressing out tremendously.
“So, what about my Prince Charming?” Jessica asked, changing the topic because she knew that Diana was going to take this more seriously than her.
Diana was confused. “Prince charming?” She retorted back, as if she didn’t hear her the first time.
“Xavier, of course. Who else do you think that i was talking about?” Jessica sassed.
Diana chuckled at her words, it would have been real nice to believe that things will go her way with Xavier had it been she’s the one who had slept with Xavier and not her.
How will she be able to tell her that she had slept with the same man that she’s calling her Prince Charming?
“ I don’t know, Jessica. I have not seen him the whole day and before you ask me to do something stupid by asking for him, I’m already leaving.”
Diana said, taking her bag up from the chair to leave only for the front door to open and Xavier entered inside with a girl in his arms.
A girl?
Is that his girlfriend?
Diana thought.
“Hello? Diana, can you hear me?” Jessica asked, because she wasn’t hearing anything from her side, clearly her mind was taken with what she’s seeing.
It was as if both Diana and Xavier’s mind was linked by some unseen force, because the both of them shared a look that made the young girl, who this is her first time of being here, had to clear her throat to cut the tension in the air.
“Baby, who is she?” Daisy asked, just then Jake was coming down the stairs paused when he saw what was happening. A girl that wasn’t Anne was here in the house that Xavier rarely brings anyone not important to him.
Diana bowed to him, and without wasting any time she left before she got involved in what doesn’t concern her.
“Yes, Jessica. I can hear you!” She said. A bit worked up for reasons not known to her.
She didn’t know why she was feeling this way seeing a woman with him?
But it was her mere stupidity to have forgotten so soon the kind of person that he is. Besides, they meant nothing to each other, so what’s the problem Diana?
“Girl, you are not talking, I thought that something was wrong. Are you okay, Diana?”
Jessica being the most insightful between them asked, she could tell through the phone that something was wrong with her.
While taking her car keys from her bag and approaching her car, Diana was reminded of her husband that had seemed to escape her mind all day because of a hectic day at work.
Yet, it was unlike Kelvin not to call to check up on her, because he always does that.
“Yeah, I’m good. I will call you when I’m back home, I’m driving.” Diana said and without wasting any time she cut the call on Jessica, and focused more on getting out of here.
This is just the second day two of being here, yet why does she feel like she has had enough?
Just to clear her mind off Xavier and the young lady with him, Diana called her husband as she left the building but the call didn’t go through, which made her hope that everything was good with him.
