4: Love
I went to the salon for wax and body scrub. Then I went to the mall to look for nice night gowns.
Some of the sales staff had judgmental looks, but I just chose to ignore them.
I need a night gown. I'm used to t-shirts and shorts when sleeping but now I have to get used to proper night dresses because I'm going to have a husband.
I only bought two because I had a hard time choosing. Maybe I'll just order online. There are more choices out there for a plus size like me. Maybe it will be delivered before the wedding.
My face scrunched up when I felt the pain of my bottom again because of the wax, so I chose to go home.
Cora wasn't home yet when I arrived. It bothers me that she didn't come home last night. Does she have a boyfriend? Or maybe she has a crush on a man. It's not very usual that she didn't come home. She knew her Mom would worry about her.
I applied a cold compress to reduce the discomfort I felt. I also texted Jacob again but still he didn't reply.
I hope we can meet before our wedding, so we can talk and get to know each other. I want to know some of his likes, his favorite food and the color of his clothes. I stopped stalking him since I graduated. I've been busy and apart from that, I realized that we're not really for each other. That time he's in a serious relationship. The woman is not taken for granted. I just heard that they broke up. His ex went abroad and soon after it was reported that he was married to a famous businessman.
You can't really tell the course of life. I'm not pretty, but I promise I'll be a good wife. I will take good care of him and serve him.
After two days, Cora also went home.
"Sorry." She hug when she saw me sulking. She didn't reply to my texts, so I'm a bit annoyed.
"Where have you been? Do you have a boyfriend already?"
"I do not have a boyfriend." She grinned but looked away when I looked hard at her. Because her blouse is low, I can see the red mark on her chest.
I was the only one to looked away because of a sudden thought. Maybe she doesn't have a boyfriend. Because she would tell me that if anything. It's normal for her to have red skin because he's fair complexion.
"I'm going to rest first, huh. I'm tired from the trip." I just let her go. I also went out first because Jacob's Mommy and I are going to meet today.
Jacob has a text and he says he will come back tomorrow. We will meet tomorrow night.
"Okay, hubby." I would have liked to add I miss you to what I was going to say but no more. I was suddenly embarrassed. He's my fiance but ours was different because we didn't go through being boyfriend-girlfriend.
We chose a cake design. This time it's the design that I like the one that followed. Mother in law let me.
"Let's have tea first, hija," she said when we finished. I was going somewhere but I just cancel because there are things I want to know about my future husband's mother.
"You can count on me, okay? Consider me as your real mother." I was raised without a mother. I considered all of our maids as mothers, they stood like my Mother, so I'm happy that Jacob's Mommy treated me as a daughter and was kind to me.
______
"I'm going to the restaurant." I sent a message to Jacob around four thirty pm.
"I'm here." My message is about quarter to six. Jacob still has no reply.
I approached the receptionist. I will wait inside. Jacob has reservations.
"Ma'am, are you going to order?" The waiter came back here for the third time, but Jacob still wasn't there.
I looked at my phone before ordering from the waiter. Salad and wine. That's all for now. I will not eat or drink it. I will wait for Jacob. My butt hurts and my legs and feet started cramping from sitting. I've been here for two hours.
At eight o'clock he finally arrived.
"I'm sorry, something came up at work."
He smiled at me and my tiredness and impatience disappeared immediately.
"It's fine," I said smiling.
The waiter came and gave us the menu. I will order again. Not a heavy meal even though I was hungry waiting. I have to go on a diet and Jacob can't see me consume much food, it might even turn him off.
I'm almost the only one talking. Jacob was just answering my question. I ask about his favorite foods. What does he dislike and whatnot.
"Black and white," he answered with his favorite color.
"I'm red... And black too," I answered. Black is said to be slimming. He didn't answer. He was looking at his phone. Someone texted.
"Favorite dessert?"
"I don't like sweets." I'm shy. He is really body and health conscious. He has a nice bidy.
Okay, I won't eat sweets anymore. Just dark chocolate when I crave chocolate.
Our dinner is over. He went home and I went home too. He had a car and I had a driver. I should have stopped driving for him to offer to take me home.
When I got home I received a text from Jacob.
"Just got home, love."
My cheeks flushed with excitement. Love? Is that what we're going to call? No longer hubby and wifey?
I immediately replied.
"Okay, Love. Goodnight."
He didn't reply, so I put my cellphone away.
Because I'm happy, I wake up early to go jogging. Jogging turned into walking because my body was too heavy. I'm out of breath but I have to handle it.
I'm sweating, but I feel good.
I went up to my room to take a hot bath. Then I went down to join daddy for breakfast.
"He left early, Ma'am."
Where did he go?
Alright, I'm not going to eat anymore. It's too bad the fats I burned earlier.
I went out and looked for Cora. I saw her in the garden. She is talking to someone on the cell phone.
"Okay, Love. I miss you."
When she saw me, she waved at me and said goodbye to the person she was talking to.
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No. None. That's Lovelyn. She was our elementary school classmate."
"The fat girl?"
"Yes. She is!"
"I thought you had a boyfriend. And you just didn't tell me."
"When there is, you'll be the first to know."
"Promise that, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Alright. Get a boyfriend so you won't be sad when I get married. We won't see each other every now and then."
"Yeah. I'm jealous." She suddenly looked sad.
I laughed. "Who would have thought that I would be the first one to marry us."
She smiled sparingly. "Yeah."
"I thought you would be the first to marry us, because you are the beautiful of us."
The tip of his other lip lifted. "But you're richer."
"Huh? What's the connection?" She laughed. "Nothing. I said, we never know what lies ahead."
She smiled sweetly.
