3: Out of town
Jacob didn't join me in fitting the wedding dresses but I understood, I know how busy he is.
Fortunately, his mommy accompanied me. Cora was not with me today. She was feeling sick, so I told her to rest.
I want to cry because almost all of the wedding gown doesn't fits me because of my size. And the big sizes available here at the boutique are not wedding gowns.
We just ordered instead of moving to another boutique. Maybe it's the same for others, we're just wasting time.
The wedding gown I choose was very simple. I just followed Mommy and what the designer said. They said it suits me. If the wedding is next year, I might lose weight by now. If only I had known that I would be getting married this year, I would have followed my new years resolution to diet and work out, even though it was very difficult to do.
We also choose shoes. Just flat because I'm too heavy. Then we bought jewelry.
Even though I was tired, I enjoyed being with Mommy. It was three o'clock when we finished, so I decided to go home.
While resting, I checked my cell phone. I was not expecting Jacob to text me, that's why I was so happy when I saw his text message. It's three.
"I just got home." That's my answer. I wanted to open some topics so that he would reply because I'm not really good at talking. I'm not really good at socializing. I'm not confident, I'm shy to socialize because I feel like people are judging me.
I looked at Mommy's picture on my table. Mommy is beautiful. I didn't even inherit beauty from her. Her smooth complexion is like a white radish, while I'm not smooth, scarless but my skin is rough and my color is uneven. She has dimples, while I have many pimples. Her body is slender, while I am an ogre. I am ninety five kilos, overweight. But luckily I'm tall.
Maybe I need to take care of myself from now on. I have to go on a diet and avoid unhealthy foods. I will also enroll in the gym, and work hard on skin care.
Here I am today, eating cake and burgers with Cora. She brought it here to my room.
"I'm going on a diet," I complained while chewing.
"Then go on a diet when you're married. Jacob will still accept you, that's what's important."
I smiled at what my friend said. Even though I was fat and not pretty, he accepted me. He's marrying me and that's the most important thing.
"You're thrilled," Cora said laughing so I made her hard.
"I think you're fooling me."
"No. Let's eat it. Let's finish it." Cora is looking good, smooth and fair skin. Only five flat in height but slender body.
"By the way, when you get married, I'll be alone." She snorted.
I just thought of that. I looked at my friend's sad face.
"Let it go, we'll always see each other. We'll have coffee every day."
"Alright. You promise that, huh. I'll visit you and Jacob's house."
"Alright. You're always welcome at our house."
I was very sleepy after finishing what Cora and I ate. And when I woke up, it was ten o'clock at night. I picked up my cellphone that was next to me. I've been looking for it earlier but didn't found it.
"Shock!" Jacob had many texts. There are even missed calls. I just read his message earlier at five o'clock. He invites me out for dinner.
It's annoying! I immediately called him but he didn't answer. He seems to have fallen asleep.
Maybe he's mad at me? I can't go back to sleep. I decided to go downstairs to drink tea, because my stomach was hurting. I think I ate too much.
"Is Cora asleep?" Our housemates are still awake. They themselves took care of my tea.
"She left at seven, Ma'am."
"Where did she go?"
"She didn't say anything, Ma'am."
Maybe she went out to attend a party.
Cora really often go out without me. And even if she invites me, I won't go because I'm shy.
After drinking my tea, I went up to my room again. Jacob still has no text. He must be asleep.
The next morning, I texted him again. I said that I will get back to him now, if he is not busy. I finished showering and getting dressed but he still didn't reply. Maybe it's okay for me to go to his office. He is my total fiance.
"Good morning, Daddy!" Daddy is already sitting in the dining room. He is reading a newspaper and is also dressed.
"Good morning, hija."
"Where's Cora? We're going to eat," Dad said to the maid.
"Cora hasn't come home yet." I looked at the maid. Not home yet? Why?
"Did Cora told you that she won't be coming home, Manang?" I worriedly asked Manang.
She scratched her head. "Just a while ago. If I hadn't called, she wouldn't even let me know."
Daddy laughed. "Does Cora have a boyfriend already?"
"I don't know, Sir. She's not telling me anything," her mother answered. I Think she's a bit annoyed with her daughter.
She didn't tell me anything either. I'm the first person she'll tell when she has a boyfriend. She hasn't told me about her lover yet, or even about the man she's been flirting with.
I drank coffee after eating a slice of loaf.
"I'm leaving, Dad. I'm going to see Jacob."
"Alright, hija. Be careful."
I even got dressed at a parlor before I went to Jacob's office.
"Sir Jacob is not here, Ma'am."
"Is there a meeting? I'll just wait."
"He's out of town, Ma'am. He have a sudden meeting with a client."
That's it? I checked my cell phone. He still hasn't replied yet.
"Okay thank you."
It's a shame that I even dressed well, I won't be able to see Jacob either.
