Chapter 45: At the hospital...
Lomesa was placed I'm the car before Allison walked to the front and opened the door. He sat in the driver's seat and started the engine.
Lomesa curiously looked at him. She noticed that he seemed to be angry? Did she make him angry? Lomesa didn't dare imagine the consequences. After all, he was her teacher in school. She bit her lower lip and contemplated for sometime while before parting her lips and asking;
"Where are we going?"
"Hospital. " Allison Spat out one word and focused on driving. Only he knew how nervous he was just now. Lomesa had Bern a good student ever since he went to the school a month ago. He usually heard people talking about how bad her reputation is in school, however, he loved believing in concrete facts and not groundless rumours, thus, when he saw how serious and meticulous she was when handling tricky situations, his impression of her improved by leaps and bounds. He chose to ignore the rumours. He wasn't a brainless person. After all, he had Been in the business world fir so long, hoe could he not know the tricks of humans? He knew clearly that someone was actually besmirching that girl's name. He just didn't have evidence but his instincts told him that that was the case.
"Oh." Lomesa answered and kept quiet. From Mr Baker's tone, Lomesa could detect a hint of anger and restraint. She knew that he was angry this time, so, she chose not to provoke him. Lomesa was feeling tired, coupled with the fact that she was in so much pain at the moment, she felt drowsy the moment her head hit the seat. She drifted off to sleep with furrowed brows. It was clear that she was feeling uncomfortable. Allison glanced her from the rear view and felt his heart ache at her expression.
He drove faster and reached the nearby hospital. He immediately lifted Lomesa and carried her in his arms. Due to impact, Lomesa tiredly opened her eyes and saw that they were headed for the hospital. After consulting with the doctor, he immediately began examining Lomesa's injury. The diagnosis was that she had twisted her ankle when she was suddenly pulled toward the other side. In the process, she also scrapped the same angle, thus, a boody wound appeared immediately. Her skin was very pale, the bloody wound looked extremely terrifying . Even people felt the pain just looking at it. The divorce first cleaned the wound using a cotton swab, Even Lomesa couldn't help but wince. What she was most scared of was pain, tears couldn't help but gather at the corner of her eyes. Even the doctor felt his heart ache when he looked at her.
"Miss, should I stop?" The doctor anxiously looked at her and asked worriedly. He could see that she was in a lot of pain. If she wanted him to stop, he definitely would. After all, he wasn't the one in charge of her life.
Hearing this, Lomesa wished that she could just nod her head, but when she thought about how painful it would incase she didn't treat it, she decided against it. She bit her lip and hesitated for a moment beside finally shaking her head. Allison, who was closely watching her, immediately heaved a sigh of relief after he heard her answer. Yes, he felt bad seeing her in pain, but he knew that it would only get better after getting treated. He was anxious, but he had to get her treated, as a teacher , he had to be responsible for his students, right?
The next few minutes were hell for Lomesa, she was experiencing the torturous pain. After cleaning up the wound, the doctor miraculously twisted the dislocated ankle and the pain lessened. Thereafter, he wrapped the wound in a gauze, it was only after the series of actions ended that Lomesa felt that she could finally breath. Thus time, wheb she stood up, it wasn't as painful as when she was just injured. This time, she didn't Need Allison's help to move. Even though she could walk on her own, her pave was obviously slower. Allison also noticed this and deliberately slowed down his pace to match up to hers. Lomesa saw this and was grateful for such a gesture. They didn't talk much but the silence was comfortable. It wasn't as suffocating as it was when they were driving to the hospital. This made Lomesa especially relieved. Allison dropped Lomesa at her place first before driving off, he didn't drive to his place and instead went ti Ryan's place. His main aim was to present the photos that he had secretely taken. The photos belonged to Emma, whom the two of them suspected that he had a familial relationship with. The person who was better at studying people was his best friend Ryan, who was a doctor. With these photos, Allison was sure enough that they would be able to find a clue or two about his mosding family. He knew that he shouldn't be too much hopeful but he couldn't help it. He knew the disappointment that followed after high hopes were dashed, however, he didn't care anymore. He knew that he would be able to handle it the moment it came. For now, he decided to focus on the task at hand.
When Kai arrived at his place, he received a call from his two friends , coincidentally, they arrived at the same time. They invited Kai out to drink. If it was any other time, Kai would have turned them down without batting an eye. But now, he only felt that he had to go somewhere and relax. He wanted to get his mind off that girl. Because honestly, he didn't feel right about it. Thus, he agreed. This made the two guys who were still at the airport look at each other in confusion. Their eyes obviously screamed:
'Are you sure we got the right person?'
They clearly suspected that the person who was using Kai's phone wasn't him but someone else. However, what mattered to them was that he agreed to come and drink with them. Without dawdling, they set for their homes so that they could shower and change into more comfortable clothes. After all, the two of them were in business suits. They wabted to appear casual, not as serious people. After all, they still had to flirt with girls in the club later. If they went with their business suits, what if someone saw them and took a photo of them thus tarnishing their reputation In the business world? They knew that by then, the damage definitely wouldn't be small. Thus, In as much as they loved having fun, they had to be wary of what might happen, after all, it would be quite a hassle to deal with the aftermath.
At Lomesa's villa, when the two people saw her limping, they immediately stood up and worried went to the side to look at her worriedly.
"Lomesa, what happened to you, why are you limping?" Lily asked as she went to support her.
Valeria also had the same expression that screamed. 'You must tell us exactly what happened.'
Seeing their worry, Lomesa touched her nose guiltily. After all, she had brought this upon herself. She knew she was somewhere busy on the streets, however, she still got lost in thought, wasn't she just inviting trouble for herself? She couldn't tell them the truth. Her leg was hurting at that time. She couldn't let them worry about her. So she chose to lie.
"Oh this? we were in the physical education class so I tripped and fell, I accidentally twisted my ankle in the process, don't worry though, I'm fine now, I went to the hospital." Lomesa lied through gritted teeth. Her wound was hurting so much that her face had turned pale, but she still lied.
"Really?" Lily asked skeptically. She eyed Lomesa's face which had turned so much paler. She knew this wasn't the colour of her face, although she was way too paler, her face wasn't as transparent as it was now, it was drained of blood.
"Urs, really." Lomesa patted Lily on the shoulder, in assurance and even grinned at her. The frown that had Been etched on Lily's forehead immediately ebbed away after seeing her smile.
"Alright then, let's go and eat." Lily said to ease the tension In the air. Since Lomesa said that she was okay, Lily saw no need of pressing further. As long as she was okay.
"Okay." Lomesa answered and took Valeria's hand . They began eating at the dining table. It was sumptuous as always. Lily's culinary skills seemed to be always improving on a daily basis. Lomesa was a picky eater, so, she would only choose the food that was to her paste. She never spared a glance at insipid dishes. How could Lily not know Lomesa's character? After all, she had heard a lot from Mrs Anastasia. So much that she felt that she already knew Lomesa even though she had never met her.
After supper, Lomesa and Vakeria went upstairs to sleep while Lily went to do the dishes.
Just as Lomesa was ablut to head to the bathroom, her cellphone rang.
On the phone, the call was from an unknown number...
