Chapter 44:Accident

On the balcony, Kai narrowed his eyes. He realized thet his father had been doing very well lately. He wanted to make trouble for his company so that he coyld be kept on his toeas, he just wanted to test the waters, after all, his journey to revenge had yet to begin, he wasnt going to spare anyone who took part in bringing pain to him , not even a single strand of their hair would be spared. On the balcony, with a cigarette in one hand, his entire body was filled with a chill, everything around him was infected by the chill amd turned instantly cold, thankfully, no one showed up, otherwise, they would have gotten the shock of their lives. After a hour, Kai emerged, atleast the chill had been suppressed by him. He didn't want people to sense his abnormality, he was the boss after all. However, anyone who looked at him would be able to tell that he was in an extremely foul mood. It was time to bounce off from work and that's what Kai did. He packed up his things and carried his laptop into the elevator. Alexis, his assistant, naturally drove home home. Kai didn't want a chauffeur. That's because, apart from his two best buddies, he only trusted Alexis, who was his assistant. After all, Over the recent years, almost everyone at home had been bought over by that mistress, who caused the death of his mother, how could he still let his guard down around vipers? Thus, he only let Alexis or his two most trusted friends drive him. If no one else was around, he wouldn't always drive the car himself, there was no way he was ever going to gamble with his life, especially not before he exerted his revenge. From Kai's point of view, only after getting his revenge would his restless heart finally calm down. He was looking forward to seeing the pain and despair that would be on those people's faces when the time came. Thinking about it, Kai's lips lifted into a vicious smirk. Alexis, who was driving , almost jolted when he saw the smirk on Kai's face. He knew that smirk very well, he knew that someone was going to suffer under his boss's wrath. He silently lit a few candles for the person who was gutsy enough to go against Kai. Was he tired of living?Anyway, Alexis wasn't in a position to ask about it, he was just a capable bodyguard and assistant who wad supposed to protect the boss from any harm, anything else wasn't much of his concern, especially personal matters involving his boss, that was, unless his boss instructed him to do something. Otherwise, he could only sit and watch from the sidelines, as long as his boss was safe and sound, that was what mattered the most to him. After all, that was what he was specifically trained for. The ride back to his place was filled with silence, however, it wasn't as suffocating as Alexis expected it to be. He secretely heave a sigh of relief at that. He relaxed and continued driving forth. As they were on the highway, Kai inadvertently glanced outside through the tinted windows of his car and saw that figure again. Otherwise was the figure of the girl that had Been on his mind since the night before. He couldn't help but narrow his eyes. She was jogging again. Just as she was focused on jogging, a motorbike suddenly lost control amd headed straight for her. At that moment, Kai's heart was in his throat, his soul was about to fly out of his body, he was so shocked , when he looked at Lomesa, who stood rooted to the spot, an inexplicable feeling assaulted his heart, he was going to save her! However, his hand had just ablut to reach for the door handle when he saw another man rush over and pull her into his arms, the motorbike had no choice but to ram into a pillar infront. The damage was definitely not something small, it was definitely tragic. No one dared to imagine what would have happened if the motorbike had really rammed into that girl. Just thinking about it made people shudder subconsciously. When people saw that she had Been rescued, they all heaved a sigh of relief.

"Are you okay?" Allison, who was still holding Lomesa in his arms looked down and asked In concern.

Lomesa had yet to come back to her senses, just now, she actually saw death flash before her eyes. She was feeling regretful that she was going to die before getting her revenge. At that moment, she had very many regrets. She had just been reborn a few weeks ago and now she was about to die? She felt that fate really knew how to joke with her life. However, just as she was about to be hit by the bike, a shadow flashed before her and before she knew it, she was enveloped in a sturdy chest . She didn't know why at that time, she only knew that she was feeling extremely grateful. She didn't care about anything and slumped in the saviour's arms. She had no energy left. She really felt like she would collapse the next moment, fortunately, the man held her tightly and prevented her from falling.

When Lomesa heard the voice coming from above her, she lifted her gaze and was stunned for a while before recovering.

"Mr Baker, it's you!" Lomesa said in bewilderment.

"Yes, it's me, are you okay?" Allison still pressed on his question.

"Yes, I'm fine, thank you. " Lomesa nodded as she answered him. Seeing that he was still doubting her, Lomesa disengaged from his arms and flashed him a bright smile. However, before she could speak, a bout of pain shot from his leg, making her face turned pale. Seeing the change in her expression, Allison couldn't care less and picked her up in his arms and headed for his car. All this while, Lomesa's face was scrunched up and pain. Anyone who saw her could already imagine how much pain she was feeling at that moment.

Lomesa was embarrassed after being carried like a child.

"Ahem, Mister Baker, put me down, I can walk on my own." Lomesa was so embarrassed that she buried his face in his arms.

When Allison heard that she wanted to walk on her own, he snorted and looked down at her, saying sarcastically; "Oh, can you?"

When Lomesa detected the cynicism in his voice, she was so embarrassed that she dared not utter a single word. she could only let him carry her. True, she couldn't walk on her own , she decided to stop being stubborn. Seeing that she had become obedient, Allison smiled in satisfaction. He didn't know why , but he suddenly felt like treating her like his own little sister. He had no romantic feelings towards her, it was just gratitude and more inclination towards friendship.

The red lights were still showing , so, Kai quite observed everything. When he saw that Lomesa had bedn rescued, his head, that was his his throat at that moment, immediately dropped back to its position. Moreover, his soul also settled down peacefully. He immediately heaved a sigh of relief audibly. Even he himself didn't realize that he did that. It was only Alexis, who was In the driver's seat , was so shocked that his mouth formed an O shape. He was so shocked that his boss actually managed to heave a sigh? From whw4 he knew, his boss had never bothered with showing his emotions, but today, The anxious expression on his face when that high school girl, Lomesa, was about to get hit by the bike, couldn't be more obvious. Even Alexis thought that he was seeing things. However, after rubbing his eyes severally, he realised that Boss's expression really cracked today. He wondered, why was his boss so nervous? Was it because he had set his eyes on her a his next plaything? But even so, the girl was still young, so he could atleast wait first, right? Many women always swam around him, he could pick whoever he wanted for the time being, so, why was he still nervous? it puzzled Alexis. He couldn't help but overthink. After all, this called for gossip, his aloof boss actually showed a panicked expression? However, Alexis didn't dare tell this to anyone. He didn't want to die yet.

The temperature in Kai's car suddenly dropped. This was because when he saw the man carrying Lomesa in his arms, he felt as though something of his had bedn snatched away, how could he still calm down at the time? He glared daggers at the man who had his arms wrapped Around Lomesa's body with killing intent. However, his expression changed when he saw her pale face that was contorted in pain. He frowned, deep in thought, 'is she injured?' , he wanted to get to the bottom of it right that instant but he decided against it. He could only retract his gaze but his heart was still restless.

In the front seat, Alexis was sweating buckets. All was well just now, why was the car so chilly all of a sudden?

A cold voice jolted him out of his thoughts.

"I need information about that man."...
