Side Story 1-17
Paul

Roxanne and I's third anniversary is coming up next month. My hands shake as I piss on the stick in my hand. I put the cap back on it, set it on the bathroom sink counter, and put a timer on my phone for five minutes.
I walk to the toilet, lower the lid, and sink down onto it. I'm having a little trouble breathing as I'm waiting for the test to finish.

I think about Roxanne and how she calms me, and my breathing begins to come easier.
The timer on my phone beeps, signifying that time is up. I stand slowly and walk over to the bathroom sink. I look down at the test and let out a gasp as I see two pink lines, letting me know that I am indeed pregnant.

I know when this happened. A month ago, Roxanne and I's cycles synced up. I went into heat, which sent her into rut. She fucked and knotted me without a condom, and here we are a month later.
I'd been feeling queasy and tired a lot lately, and after two weeks of that, I knew something was up. I didn't want to head to the doctor's office just yet. So I bought a test from the store.

I called the OB/Gyn office and scheduled an appointment for shortly after our anniversary. I wanted Roxanne to be there the first time they let me hear the baby's heartbeat.
I wanted to share it all with her. I want to ask her to marry me, but I'm scared because I know Roxanne loves being alpha female and will want to do it herself.

I'm just getting so impatient. I think if she doesn't do it by our anniversary, I'll do it myself.
She'll have no one to blame but herself for being so slow. Patience was never a strong suit of mine, especially when I wanted something so badly.

I headed home from work, which wasn't really work anymore since I was caught up in this trial. It seemed like every other day, we were in court.
I headed to urgent care because I wanted them to give me a printout to show Roxanne on our anniversary.

I got to the office and signed in. I was called back shortly, and the nurse asked what my reason was for coming in today.
I said, "I haven't been feeling well for a couple of weeks now, I've been sick to my stomach and very tired."

The nurse looks at me and asks, "Is there any chance you could be pregnant?"
I nod, blushing, and I say, "There is."

She nods and says, "Okay, I'm going to need a urine and blood sample from you. When we have those results, the doctor will be in to discuss them with you."
"Okay, that's fine. Thank you." I say softly. I really wanted Roxanne to be here for this, but I know I'll have to wait if I want it to be a surprise.

I walk to the bathroom with the cup the nurse handed me, and shut the door behind me. I pee in the cup and put the cap back on.
I walk back to the room I was in to see the nurse still in there. She takes the cup from me and puts a white stick in it.

She says, "You can have a seat, so I can take your blood now."
I sit in a chair and rest my arm on the counter next to it. She wraps a tourniquet around my arm and soon pricks me with the needle, drawing blood.

When she has enough, she removes the tourniquet and puts a band-aid on my arm.
"The doctor will be with you shortly," she says before she walks out of the room, shutting the door softly behind her.

I sit there for twenty minutes before the doctor knocks on the door and walks in.
"Mr. Sawyer?"
I nod, "Yes, that's me." I say, looking at the doctor curiously.

He walks further into the room, looking at the chart in his hand. "I'm Dr. Amos. Okay, so I have potential good news, just news if you aren't happy about it," he says, chuckling.
I smile and say, "Lay it on me, doc."
He returns the smile and bluntly says, "You're pregnant. By my calculations, about a month along."

I smile, "Thanks, doc. Can you give me a printout stating that?"
He nods, returning my smile, "Sure, no problem. I'll have them print it out and have it ready when you check out. Do you already have a doctor in mind? If not, I could recommend one for you."

I shake my head, "Thanks, doc. I'm already all set with that. Anything else before I go?"
Dr. Amos chuckles, "I think I'm supposed to be the one to ask you that, but I'm going to write you a prescription for prenatal vitamins and iron supplements, as your iron was a bit low. You can have your doctor's office refill it for you since I'll only give you a prescription for a month's supply."

I smile at Dr. Amos, "Thanks, doctor. I'll be sure to make sure I get that from my doctor's office at my next appointment."
I get up and walk out of the exam room before exiting the building. I smile to myself. I hope Roxanne is just as excited about this as I am!

It's the day of our anniversary, and of course, Roxanne had to work, I mean, I do too, but I get out early. I get home and take a seat on the couch, letting out a big sigh.
I do understand that she's busy with a big case right now, but I didn't think that would make her forget our anniversary.

I lean back against the couch and look at my watch. I let out another sigh. It's six thirty now, and I wish I had thought to plan something. Then I could've just told her to be somewhere and hoped that she would actually make it. But nope, here I am, sitting at home with no plans and no alpha.

I stand from the couch. I think I'm going to take a nice soak to relax my muscles and de-stress a little bit.
I walk to our room, it feels so good to call it 'our'. Roxanne asked me to move in a couple of months ago. I was over the moon when she asked because I was more than ready to fall asleep and wake up next to her every night and morning.

I go into the bathroom and fill the tub with warm water, adding some bubble bath for fragrance and bubbles.
I've just slid into the tub when the doorbell rings. I sigh and look at the clock on the wall. Who could that be?

I get out of the tub and wrap a towel around my waist before donning a bathrobe. The doorbell sounds again when I get to the bottom of the steps.
"Coming! Give me a second!" I speed up my steps to answer the door.

When I open the door, a guy is standing there holding a garment bag and a box. He holds out a clipboard, saying, "Sign here."
I take the clipboard and sign it before taking the box and bag he hands to me. "Thank you."
He nods and walks away.

I open the box to see a nice pair of shiny black shoes with a little envelope tucked to the side. I set the garment bag down and take the envelope out of the box.
