Side Story 1-18
Side Story 1-18
I open and pull out a little card. It reads:
"My love, my beautiful butterfly. I couldn't let this day end without letting you know that I've been thinking of you all day. Every day, for that matter. I want you to put on the suit and shoes, and a car will be waiting for you when you're finished. Put the blindfold on, and they'll bring you to me. I'll be waiting. I love you so much, Paul. Love Roxanne."
A big smile splits my face. She didn't forget about me! I take the garment bag and shoes and run upstairs. I jump in the shower and wash off quickly. I get out, toweling dry before I run into the room and dig some underwear out of the drawer, dancing around as I slip them up my legs.
I put the suit on, looking at myself in the mirror. I do look dapper if I do say so myself. I slide my feet into the shoes, taking the blindfold that was in the garment bag as well.
I walk outside to see a limousine sitting in front of the house. I stared at it with my eyes wide and my mouth open before shaking myself from my awe and walking to it.
The chauffeur gets out as I walk up and walks around the car to the back door, opening it for me.
I slide inside before tying the blindfold securely around my eyes. I hear the driver reenter the car, and soon feel the motion of the car moving.
We're driving for what feels like 30 minutes before we slow to a stop.
My door opens, and someone grabs my hand, pulling me out of the car. I'm led a few steps before I hear a voice say softly, "Watch your steps, there are two steps in front of you."
I don't recognize the voice, so I can only wonder who it is that's leading me.
Finally, they stop me from walking, saying, "I'm going to help you sit down here. Just follow my guidance."
I nod and let them maneuver me until I'm sitting down. I feel a breeze that somewhat cools my heated skin.
The person removes my blindfold. I'm seated at a beautifully decorated table for two, and when I look to my left, all I see is the glint of the moon shining over water.
I look to my right, and I see a line of people wearing serving attire. I smile at them. They separate and form two lines leading to the table with enough space between them to walk through.
I hear music begin to play softly in the background. When I look to the right again, I finally see Roxanne. She's standing at the beginning of the aisle the two lines of people create.
My eyes widen and my jaw drops. She looks drop-dead gorgeous in a red strapless dress with a slit that comes up to her hip.
She smiles radiantly at me before gliding down the aisle toward the table. She makes it to the table and stands next to it, grabs my hand, and pulls me to my feet.
I stand there looking at her in awe. She leans down and presses her red lips to the corner of my mouth, wiping it when she pulls away.
I'm so enraptured by her beauty, I can only stand there staring. She helps me sit down before taking the seat across from me. The first server comes over, fills our glasses with champagne, and steps back.
The next server comes over and sets a plate in front of me, and one in front of Roxanne. I look down to see what looks like scallops in a butter sauce over pasta.
I pull my napkin out and lay it across my lap before picking up my fork. I look at Roxanne and smile widely at her before I dig in. Roxanne returns the smile before she begins to dig in as well.
We eat, making small talk about work and life. They soon bring out dessert, which is a cheesecake topped with strawberry sauce.
We eat that, feeding forkfuls to each other until both of our desserts are gone. Roxanne stands and pulls me to my feet, pulling me over to a little dance floor that's to the side.
We dance to the music slowly, getting lost in each other's eyes. When the first song ends, Kenny Lattimore's 'For You' begins to play.
Roxanne drops to one knee, right there on the dance floor. I take a step back, letting out a small gasp. She grabs my hand and looks up at me, looking so ravishing in her dress.
I can't believe she's doing this! And she even managed to surprise me!
Roxanne starts talking, "My love, my beautiful butterfly. Let me start by saying thank you. Thank you for giving me multiple second chances. Thank you for letting me love you, but most of all, thank you for loving me back. You complete me in a way that no one ever has, and I fear no one ever will. You are the end to my beginning, the stop to my go. You are the flame on my candle, and I couldn't see myself doing this thing called life with anyone else. So, I want to ask you, Paul, if you're willing to walk the path of life for the rest of our lives with me and me alone? What I'm really trying to say is, Paul Sawyer, will you marry me?"
Tears are streaming down my face as I nod rapidly, "Yes! A million times, yes! I couldn't see myself doing this thing called life with anyone other than you. I want you for the rest of my life, maybe even longer than that."
Roxanne slides the ring on my finger, then she squeals and jumps to her feet. She pulls me to her chest, attaching her lips to mine in a heated kiss.
I groan into her mouth, and the hold she has on me tightens. We're interrupted by clapping and cheers. I turn to see Levi, Linda, Tim, Liam, Chase, and a few people from work standing behind us.
I smile and hold up my hand, "She liked it, so she put a ring on it!" I squeal. Liam comes running over and wraps his arm around me, "Now I won't be alone. We omegas have to stick together!" he whispers in my ear. I chuckle and nod, "You got it, brother."
Liam pulls back with shock on his face for a moment before a big smile breaks across his face. "Awesome, brother! Welcome to the family!"
After Liam steps back, everyone else comes up and either hugs me or shakes my hand.
I turn from everyone back to Roxanne, I walk over to her, and hold my hand out. She grabs it and pulls me to her chest.
"I have something to tell you," I murmur.
She looks at me quizzically with her brows raised. I motioned for her to lean down so I could whisper in her ear. Once she's close enough, I stand on my tiptoes to close the distance.
Putting my mouth right next to her ear, I whisper, "I'm pregnant."
She pulls back from me quickly, her eyes wide with surprise. Then a slow smile spreads across her face before she whoops rather loudly.
"Woohoo! I'm gonna be a Papa y'all!" She yells loudly. Everyone looks over and smiles, before whoops can be heard all around, and people come over and start congratulating us.
We stayed and chatted with everyone for another half an hour. Then Roxanne grabs my hand and whispers, "Let's go," pulling me toward the exit. We run outside to the limousine, the chauffeur already has the door open, so we slip inside. We pull away from the restaurant, and pretty soon, only the flashes of streetlights can be seen out the window.
I rest my head back against the seat and think about what's going to happen next. I'm so ready for the rest of my life to start with the woman I will love beyond eternity.
The family we will build, the love we will share, the life we will live. Together, for always.
The End.
