Chapter 7 He’s Defending Me?
Allison looked up and stared at Richard.
Is he… actually defending me? Didn’t see it coming at all…
“Why are you back?” Dylan asked.
“I left your medication in my car,” Richard said.
“Let me take a look.” Dylan got up and left with Richard.

Allison watched Richard’s tall, cold figure until he disappeared completely. She still couldn’t figure out why he’d helped her.
While she was lost in thought, someone grabbed her wrist tight. Jasper dragged her out of the sitting room and into an empty hallway.
“That hurts–let go…”
Jasper released her wrist and demanded, “Why were you having coffee with Uncle Richard? What did you two talk about?”
“We just talked about Grandpa’s health. That’s all.” Allison looked at him. “Since I wasn’t lying, why did Chloe call you? Don’t you think there’s something wrong with her character?”
“She’s your best friend. Allie, drop the jealous act and remember -we’re not married yet.” Jasper’s handsome face turned cold. “Until then, isn’t it normal for me to be interested in other women?”

The difference was she wouldn’t try to hold onto him anymore.
“Why did you tell everyone Chloe was my girlfriend?” Jasper asked.
“It’s nothing, really. We’re not married anyway, and since we were at Grandpa’s birthday party, I figured introducing her to him was fine.”
Allison kept her real thoughts to herself.
I’m done with you. Whatever girl you want, whoever you fall for, none of it’s my problem anymore.
“Good that you understand. You can move back in. Chloe will take your room, and I’ll have the staff set up another one for you.”
“Got it.” Allison nodded.
Jasper watched her being so obedient, something flickering in his eyes. He reached out to touch her face.
“Jasper.” Chloe appeared out of nowhere.
Jasper dropped his hand.

“Jasper, I want some cake, but I’m too shy to get it myself. Could you help me?”
“Let’s go.” Jasper walked away with her without looking back.
Allison watched them leave, her expression completely blank.
Jasper, I wonder if you’ll feel any pain when you see how I died in that oven last time.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
