In her past life, Allison had caused scenes over Chloe countless. times. She had even slashed her wrists with a knife to make Jasper choose her.
But the moment he sweet–talked her, she’d back down. She had no backbone, no dignity whatsoever.

“But I heard she’s been staying at the Sterling Manor for days. now. What if she means it this time?”
“Come on, seriously? The minute she finds out Jasper brought another woman here, she’ll panic and come crawling back, begging for forgiveness.”

Chloe was smirking to herself. When she looked up and saw Allison, her expression shifted instantly. She put on her best–friend face.
“Allie! You’re here. Jasper’s here too. Come sit with us.”
She talked like this was her own house, like Allison needed her permission to sit down.
The moment Allison walked in, everyone else’s expressions tightened. They went back to their drinks, greeting her as if nothing had happened–all fake smiles.
Jasper didn’t even move. He sat there completely at ease, lifting his eyes to give Allison a flat look.
He seemed certain she’d make a scene, and his brows furrowed in warning. “Today is Grandpa’s birthday. Don’t cause trouble.”
“So you two are… making it official?” Allison asked.
Jasper’s gaze darkened, but he said nothing–he neither confirmed nor denied it.
“Allie, please don’t be upset. I didn’t have classes today, and Jasper only brought me along because I was bored.
“But even if you are angry, could you wait until after the party? I don’t want to ruin Sir Sterling’s mood,” Chloe said.
Jasper grabbed her hand, his voice low and magnetic. “Don’t
waste your breath on her. If only she were half as thoughtful as you.”

Chloe’s face flushed with shy pleasure. She knew Allison would
cause a scene.
And when she did, it would ruin Dylan’s birthday, and the Sterling family would hate her. They wouldn’t keep her around anymore or give her the same treatment she’d gotten as their adopted daughter.
Why should some orphan live better than me?
Chloe was eagerly waiting for the drama to unfold.
She was especially thrilled when she saw Dylan walking into the
reception room.
Allison could see the anticipation in everyone’s eyes. They were all waiting for her to lose control. Jasper probably expected her to throw a tantrum too.
But this time around, she wouldn’t.
Without hesitation, she walked over to Dylan’s side. “Grandpa, I have wonderful news. It will make today even more special. Jasper brought his girlfriend here. He finally has someone special in his life.”
Of course, Dylan already knew that Jasper was bringing someone to his birthday. But to his surprise, it was Allison who brought this up and even called that girl as his girlfriend.
Everyone else, especially Chloe, was stunned.

Then, it hit him, and a cold smile flashed across his face.
Allison didn’t dare cause a scene, so she was making the introduction as her way of tattling–like a little kid running to
tell on someone.
Jasper was impressed that she’d stayed quiet for several days at the Sterling Manor. Usually, when she threw her tantrums, she’d come apologize before the night was over.
But now, she’d finally reached her breaking point.
