Chapter 91

Amelia's POV

When the plane lands, I go to hold on to Derek, but he shrugs me off. He hasn't talked to me the entire flight. I don't know what's happening. I have never seen this side of him, and to be honest, I don't I want to see this side of him.

I know that there isn't really any other option now, and I can't run from him. No matter where I go he will find me. He always does. I was never able to hide from him. Now that I have Faithlyn it's not really about me it's about her. She needs her dad and her mom to be happy, but how can I do this when he's treating me this way?

I know how much Derek loves Faithlyn. He would do anything for her. It's just me that he doesn't care about now, and I am not sure what happened. I need to tell him the truth. If he already knows then fine. I need to know this is why he's treating me like this. He tries to hide any affection towards me, but I know that he loves me, even if he thinks he doesn't. I can see in his eyes that he cares about me. I just don't know why he's trying to hide it.

I am just wondering what happened after I left the hospital. When he woke up, everything was wonderful. What happened within those few hours after I left the hospital. When I called, I should've asked them if there were any other visitors besides myself. I don't know who would go visit him. I mean he knows a lot of people, so that's possible. I need to figure out what happened in those couple of hours after I left. If I figure that out then maybe I can figure out what is going on with him.

As we are getting off the plane, I go to grab Faithlyn, but he jumps in front of me and grabs her first. I look at him with an irritated expression not sure why he would just jump in front of me. I was going to get her, but he made sure that he pushed me out of the way to get her first which is odd.

I looked at him confused and asked, "Derek what are you doing? I was going to get her.”

“Amelia, you have a bag that you need to carry.”

I go to get my bags because I don't want to fight with him, not in front of people anyway. Derek goes ahead and gets in the car.

I'm walking to the car to get in when Derek shouts,“What are you doing? Put your bags in the trunk so that it's not so crowded.”

I then ask the driver if he could please pop the hood. I put my bags into the trunk. I then get into the car. I try not to even look at Derek. I'm not really sure what is going on with him, but I'm getting tired of him treating me this way. I'm nervous as the driver is taking us to Derek's house. I'm not sure how he is going to treat me once we get to the house. I'm just going to stay out of his way. I stare out of the window just praying that everything will be ok.

When we pull up to the house, I go to grab my bags to carry them into the house. I'm trying to be smiley and giggley for Faithlyn not wanting her to feel the tension between us. She is so beautiful, and I just love her so much. I have no idea where I should put my bags since Derek is making me feel so uncomfortable.

“Derek, where should I put my bags? Are we staying in the same room.”

“Of course we are sleeping in the same room! Put your bags in my room. There is an empty closet you can put your things in.”

“Derek, it seems to me like you don't want to be around me let alone sleep beside me.”

“Really, Amelia? You're always trying to bring drama into every situation.”

When I see Summer walking in, I stop there. I'm so thankful to see her. I take Faithlyn out of Derek's hands and adke her, “Can you please keep an eye on Faithlyn? Derek and I need to have a talk.”

“Of course Miss. Amelia! Is there anything you need right now?”

“No, I'm good, thank you so much.” I pull Derek aside so we can talk, "Derek, what is going on with you? You have been treating me like shit, and I want to know why!”

“Amelia, I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't been any different with you than what I am normally.”

“Are you fucking kidding me? Come on! Now really, but whatever! If you don't want to talk about your issues then fine!” I go to leave, but he grabs a hold of my hand. He doesn't say anything. He just grips it hard, so I whimper, “Derek, let go of me! You're hurting me! Stop!”

He pulls me into his chest. I become nervous not sure what he is about to do. He whispers in my ear, “Don't you ever talk to me that way ever again! I will make you pay for it next time, I promise you. Do you understand me Amelia?”

I'm shocked at his cruel words. What has happened? Something isn't right with him, and he is scaring me. He grabs a hold of me harder waiting for my answer. I push the subject further hoping to figure out what's wrong with him, “Derek what is wrong with you? Why are you treating me like this? What did I do? Tell me, please!”

“Really, Amelia? You're going to play the innocent card because your just so sweet and innocent! You do nothing wrong, right!”

“Derek, I'm not playing any card! I want to know what is going on. Why are you so angry at me?”

“Why don't you ask your mother why I am so angry with you! Amelia, I understand now why she hates you and wishes you were never born!”

His words cut through me like knives. My heart shatters. My mother has to turned the only other person who I have ever loved besides my father against me. I know that my mother despises me, but why must she always take my happiness away? I don't bother to fight with him any longer. I don't want to say something that I won't be able to take back. I go to leave the living room, but he grabs my arm. His touch used to cause my body to shiver in pleasure, but now it's rough, and it hurts me.

“Where are you going Amelia? You wanted to talk, so let's talk! Why don't you tell me why you are a deceiving little bitch!”

Then I know that he must know about the plan with Brittany, but how did my mother find out. Also, what exactly did she tell him that made him so angry? I decide to ask him, “Derek, what did my mother tell you?”

“Why don't you tell me Amelia? Tell me the truth! Tell me you are a liar and that everything we had was a lie and it all meant nothing to you! Then when Jill was going to tell me all about your lies, you got rid of her so that she would keep her mouth shut!”

“What are you talking about! Derek, that is all a lie! Are you that desperate that you need to make up a reason for Jill leaving? Now you are blaming it on me?”

“Amelia, she wrote me a letter telling me what all you and Brittany have done.”

"No, that is impossible! She cared about me. I know it wasn't all a lie." Tears start to form as I tell him, “You're lying! She wouldn't make things up about me. She cared about me!”

“Here you need you proof?” He hands me the letter, and I look over it. I know then that this isn't from Jill. It's not her handwriting. She wrote me a letter too and the handwriting in this one is way off. I'm not sure whose writing it is. I almost think it looks like Brittany's handwriting. I'm confused as to why she would try to make Derek hate me. It makes no sense. What the fuck is really going on here?

This letter reads,

Dear Derek,

I didn't want to leave, but I had no choice. She threatened to kill me if I didn't leave. I needed to let you know that she is a liar. She was working with Brittany to set up a plan to cancel out the contract by making you fall in love with her. She knew you would break all the terms and be the one that would suffer the consequences of their actions.

“Derek, that is not Jill's handwriting. She did not write that letter to you. It looks like Brittany's handwriting. If you will just listen, I will tell you the entire story from the beginning."

“Amelia, I don't want to hear any more of your lies! I am sick of it!”

“Derek, they're not lies! I am telling you the truth! Just let me explain everything, please!”

He goes to leave the room, so I grab his arm. He swings his arm away from me, so I lose my balance and fall to the ground. He continues walking away from me as I sit there on the floor and cry out in frustration.
