Chapter 159 A Distressed Luna
Kristen's POV
"The Greyhound pack run is fast approaching, I wonder who will win this time. Since you aren't
participating," It's Nana Joyce. She's visiting for the first time since she heard about my accident.
"I won twice," I boast, sitting upright on my bed.
Nana Joyce puts the curtains out and lets sunlight flow into the room.
"Calhoun won't let you participate this time, because of your accident," she has this weird look on her face when she shifts her attention back to me.
"I think so, my first win is memorable, "I say, trying to lessen the tension
inside of me because I am still worried if anyone saw Theodore sneaking out of my room, and told Calhoun about it.
"When Calhoun kept cheering for you, I knew he was already fucking you at that time," Nana Joyce blurts out with the suspicious look on her face not wearing out.
And I choke on the glass of water I am drinking, and vomit it back into the cup.
"What?" Nana Joyce asks with a confused frown this time as if she has no idea of what she just spilled.
"You just said..." I am talking when she cuts me short.
"Calhoun couldn't stop worrying for your sake. So, you participated. He was married to your mom at that time but I knew you two were fucking." Nana Joyce nears my side of the bed and
refuses to sit on it.
"How come? He told you?" I blink uncomfortably.
"Yes, but in a different way. Kept saying it was his friend but I knew the
whole time it was himself he was
referring to," Nana Joyce chuckles to herself.
And I don't know if I should respond or
remain silent.
"Something is up with you," she says after a slice of silence.
"You think I'm pregnant again?" I ask after drinking the remaining of my
water.
"No, but I know you're hiding something," Nana Joyce then sits on the bed and stares at me through her eyes through a squint.
"I'm not hiding anything, Nana Joyce.
How can you even say that?" It's so confusing to have her accuse me this way.
"It's all in your eyes, Kristen. Sometimes you're unpredictable, but now, I can read you like an open book, " she smiles to herself.
"And what do you think I'm keeping as a secret?" I question her, ensuring my voice is loud, even though my gaze on her is starting to waver.
"Have you been seeing another man apart from Calhoun?" Nana Joyce puts her hand on her chin.
And this question stuns the heck out of
my senses. How can she even suspect me of that?
"No, I will never do that," I reply, meaning it because I don't even intend to cheat on Calhoun in the future.
Thankfully, Doctor Melbourne comes to my rescue. He didn't even knock. He just opens the door and enters the
room.
"I think it's time you leave, Nana Joyce, our Luna needs her medication, 'he gives Nana Joyce a small, friendly smile.
||
Calhoun's grandmother wordlessly rises to her feet and makes her way out
without even turning to spare me another glance.
And this leaves my stomach forming knots.
First, she said I was hiding something
which isn't a lie because no one needs to know Theodore is my mate. I want to reject him in secret to end it all.
Secondly, Nana Joyce thinks I'm cheating on Calhoun.
Something which I never plan to do
because I don't see anyone else but her grandson.
I haven't even gotten close to Theodore
and I don't intend to.
While Doctor Melbourne proceeds to
check my eyes, another person storms in, panting like they just finished a marathon.
Cynthia? I wave Doctor Melbourne
aside when the girls near my bed. I wasn't even expecting her to show up unannounced.
"Something happened?" I ask in a
calm tone.
When she vigorously nods in response,
my heart does a backflip in my chest. "Does this have to do with Calhoun or Aiden?" It's the only thing I can ask right now because my husband and my son are the most important to me. "No," Cynthia shakes her head, and immediately, relief cascades through
me.
"Then what's going on?" I can feel a frown about to hit my face because whatever had her running up here, has to be of great concern to me. "You heard about the man and his
little sister? Our new pack members?" Cynthia inquires after panting and puffing for a few seconds. "Theodore..." I hold her gaze. "And Darcy," Cynthia completes and
ignores Doctor Melbourne as she walks up to my bed.
I never Theodores' sister's name was
Darcy,
"Theodore was rude to Alpha Calhoun, claiming Alpha Calhoun stole something from him, and this greatly
upset our Alpha. He ordered his men to lock him up," Cynthia informs me. And at this, my heart makes a leap so
high that I nearly faint.
This is not happening. This is so not happening. Calhoun locked Theodore up?
Fucking Theodore mentioned to Calhoun that I am his mate?
"What?" Cynthia has a bewildered
expression on her face as she looks at
me.
And I didn't know I said that out loud.
Just fuck!
"What did Theodore say Calhoun took from him?" It's impossible to stay calm right now because there are a lot of possibilities that Theodore must have told Calhoun that he was hiding under my bed earlier.
"Theodore didn't mention it," Cynthia
shrugs lightly and adds, "he just kept glaring at Alpha Calhoun and raising his voice at him."
A tad of relief washes over me but I am
still not settled.
Theodore is now like an enraged beast
who was let loose.
And from the onlook of things, he's
going to tell Calhoun I am his mate.
I need to hurry and do something before it gets too late. "Where did the guards take him?" I
ask Cynthia, after taking in calm breaths.
"The dungeon," she responds.
And I am already at my feet. Even though it hurts to stand up like this.
"I need to go," I let this out in a rush. "Where?" Doctor Melbourne speaks up for the first time since Cynthia's arrival.
"To meet Theodore," Shamelessly, I
blurt this out.
you,
"Why? This doesn't even concern "Doctor Melbourne is following me as I wander around the room helplessly,
you need to sit down and take your medications." He adds.
"There's something I need to ask
Theodore," I pause to stare at him.
||
"My Luna, you aren't fit to walk about, "Doctor Melbourne points out
cautiously.
"You will obey me as your Luna," my
voice is already thick with frustration.
"Not if you want Alpha Calhoun to kill me," Doctor Melbourne nudges his glasses up as he shoots me a pleading look.
"Okay, just shut up!" I yell in frustration, and this leaves Cynthia and Doctor Melbourne startled.
Do I even know what to do at this
point? I doubt so. But what I know is
that
I don't want Calhoun to see me as
a liar, it will break his trust in me. "Good, now lend me your clothes," My
voice is stern when I make this order.
"What?" Doctor Melbourne's eyes are almost bulging out of their sockets. "Do as I say," I continue, daring him
to say no with the hardness in my eyes. And slowly, he nods. For a moment, I feel bad for him as
he's caught up in a position where he cannot even say no to me, and on the other hand, he's frightened of what Calhoun would do to him if Calhoun found out I sneaked out of my room when I am not even done recuperating.
"I know what you're thinking, and yes, you're right," I direct this to both him and Cynthia.
"What?" They chorus, looking puzzled. "You two will remain here and keep
the doors closed until I return."
Wordlessly, they nod.
