Chapter 158 Shocking Attitude (II)

Chapter 158 Shocking Attitude (II)

Calhoun's POV
Silence fills up the atmosphere at the shocking outburst of the man whom my men are holding hostage. Theodore Fitzgerald.
My face squeezes into a frown as I slowly walk up to meet him. While he on the other hand seems completely stiff.
"I have what's yours?" I ask carefully, wanting to know if I misheard him or something.
"Hurry and speak up, perhaps I misheard you," I continue.
At this point, Theodore choose to remain silent as he glared at me right in the eye as if we have been having beef for a long time now.
I know I never got offended by this man until the moment I commanded my guards to hold him. And it was he who still triggered my anger, because his remarks were rather snarky, showing disrespect, when I am way above him.
"What is it that I have which belongs to you, Theodore?" I am getting impatient at this point, hating the fact that he's not responding at all.
"Hurry and speak up now, do not keep Alpha Calhoun waiting," Bruce urges him.
But the man chooses to keep his mouth shut. He's not even looking at anyone, not even the guards holding him, except me. More like if he's released right at this instant, he'll let his wolf take over and then lunge at me.
"I am still waiting for your response, Theodore Fitzgerald," I throw my hands across my chest as I hold his
gaze. Surprisingly I am calmer than the way I was before.
And at last, Theodore snorts as if I am amusing to him.
"You're a man of power after all, with guards at your beck and call. You can choose to punish me as much as you want, but I won't let you claim what's
rightfully mine," he speaks up, growling at me with bared fangs. To
the extent everyone present seems
puzzled, save for his sobbing sister
who cannot see anything.
Silence remigrates and at this, I know it's the lady straw.
"Take him away, lock him up, and let him starve until he decides to tell me what belongs to him that I took," I say with my tone firm, leaving no room for further protest from my beta.
"No, please," Darcy drags herself from the floor upon hearing my order.
"Please.."
"Now!" I yell, amid her shaky please.
And as the guards oblige, Theodore doesn't even struggle, he just lets them lead him out of the throne room. While his blind sister throws herself on the
floor and weeps bitterly.
The girl pleaded on her brother's behalf, and if only he hadn't challenged me like that, maybe, just
maybe I would have let him go scott- free and kicked him out of my home for good.
But then I knew I could not free him,
with the way he spoke to me like an enemy, and became the total opposite of the man who I accepted into my
pack.

"Maybe he's having some mental
issues," Bruce says a few minutes later when the throne room has no one else in, except the two of us.
"I don't think so, he looks completely
fine to me," I shrug, pouring myself some more wine.
"You know, he might not be telling the
truth as to why he and his sister got kicked out of their pack." Bruce puts his hand on his chin and stares into the air thoughtfully.
"Theodore looks perfectly fine to me," I say
"Then something else isn't right. Theodore literally worshiped the ground you walked on, until today."
"He said I have what's his, and I need to know. Because the only thing I did wrong was to let him in when I should've turned him away." I point out with regret.
Bruce puts his hands on his waist,
pants and puffs out a breath as he stares at me.
"What?" I ask because it seems like he's going to make a suggestion.
"You should speak with Kristen," he carefully lets this out.
"Why? She needs to recuperate properly before anything else," I frown at him
"Listen to me, Calhoun. The man who you currently hold hostage, brought your injured and unconscious wife
home last night. And he was as well covered in bruises, claiming it was an accident. And all of a sudden, he's had a change of behavior, keeps saying you have what belongs to him, yet he won't
mention the exact thing." Bruce purses his lips as he looks at me
"Are you saying this has to do with Kristen?" I can feel a confused frown spreading across my face right now.
Because I just hate it when my beta fixes the pointers at my wife. "Maybe, maybe not," Bruce has a
neutral expression on his face as he shrugs, "But we all know Theodore wasn't like this until after the accident.

My jaw hardens at the thought of the occurrence last night. Theodore's eyes were red with tears
when he showed up at the door with Kristen. If one didn't know them, they would think Theodore was Kristen's elder brother or even lover.
"You need answers, Calhoun. And since Theodore cannot give you them, why not try to speak to your wife?"
"I will when it's the right time," I
want to wave this off, but my beta seems persistent.
"Can't you see something isn't right, Calhoun?" He's close to raising his voice at me right now, something
which shows how serious he is.
"Tell me exactly what you mean?" My eyes are narrowing in their sockets.
Bruce sighs and shakes his head at me in disappointment.
"You might be a powerful Alpha but there are times when you don't see what's about to hit you in the face," he says.
Knowing this response requires no answer, I drink my wine. "Kristen went out to get Aiden's
diapers yesterday, and she didn't
return until 4 hours later, where she was unconscious, in a critical state, and in the arms of Theodore, the man
who you didn't know until two days ago," Bruce pauses to catch his breath.
And I am starting to see things from his perspective and understand where he's heading.
"Theodore was once loyal like a stray dog whom you provided food and shelter, but now he's turned to your enemy, claiming you have what belongs to him," Bruce makes his voice even louder than before. Slowly, I nod to this, because he's making so much sense. "Talk to Kristen, I am certain she
knows something," Bruce suggests at last.
And this leaves me with several disturbing thoughts.
