Chapter 109 Shield
Alessia’s POV
I follow them quietly as they walk hand in hand taking a few sharp turns that I don't pay attention too since I have a mental map of the whole coven in my head . My thoughts are full of Lucy's words:
\-Alex was drugged
\-It was a trap
\-We don't know who set it up yet but it's fair to assume all the high council members are in on it .
I also need to make my own findings of course but Lucy stands to gain nothing by lying and Enya's pettiness earlier on makes me believe it was actually a plan she was in on. Muttering under my breath “Why are they playing devils incarnate?” I look up and we have arrived at the Magic room . I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realise. Orzo places his strong hand encased in long black gloves on the door and the symbols glow for a second before sliding open.
Turning to his wife he gestures for her to go in “Ladies first .” Enya gives him a wide smile and turns to me “Come on Alessia we have a lot to do today.” I nod my head and follow her in as Orzo comes in last and the door slides shut behind him .
Enya walks towards the sofa placed near the bookshelf and sits down as Orzo stands near the outer circle.
“Alessia just like we did yesterday please take Position in the center “ she tells me gently
“Okay Enya” I walk towards the center and stand with my hands on my side as Orzo watches me silently. He immediately removes his gloves shoving them into his pocket and clasps his hands behind his back . “Alessia you will be learning how to create simple shields today” Orzo says calmly and despite my anger at them I feel a thrill of excitement fill me .
\-The sooner I learn all I can from them
\-The sooner we can get out of this crazy place and get La Rosa
“A Shield is one of the hardest things for Newly awakened witches to create.” Orzo carries on as he paces around the outer circle . “They all assume it's easy and they fail.They think to create a shield you pull power from outside but all your magic comes from inside.” He places his hand on his chest as if to emphasise his point . “It is always from inside”
He has a point though ,I have seen how easy it is to draw fire from my inside and hold it for long even when my emotions are heightened
Enya fixes her voice delicately as I hear her getting more comfortable on the sofa “Remember your exercises from yesterday” she adds gently
Before I can answer her he carries on “To create your first shield” Orzo instructs “You don't need to cast or whisper incantations.Have the intent in your mind and go for it”
His instruction surprises me “Is it possible to create a shield without a spell?”
“Most of our power ,was existing long before there was a witches language .” He replies simply “It’s time you understood that”
“Center yourself” Orzo instructs “Once you are one with your inner eye lower yourself until you are seated with legs folded on the ground”
This is just the way me and Enya started yesterday so I have no doubt I will wing it . I shut my eyes slowly and take deep calming breaths, taking all of my worries and imagining a mental gate where I locked them up for safe keeping .Then I take deep calming breaths until my inner eye opens ,unlike yesterday I don't stare at it in wonder rather I grasp on to the connection tight.
“Thats it you got it now start lowering your height slowly to assume the position.” I take one more deep breath and start lowering myself to the ground until I feel the warm floor warming up my palms.
Once I am cross legged on the floor I summon my fire not to my palms yet, but its tendrils spread through my arms and legs and I take a deep breath . Instead of forming a flame ball I think of it becoming a magnetic field . I internally turn my fire into electric energy pulses therefore creating a shield . It wavers for a moment before turning into a purple tennis ball size electric ball I try not to get too excited as I push more fire into it and it becomes bigger.
That's it ! Slowly ,painstakingly it becomes as big as a football..
“Now Princess Orzo” says his voice slow and melodious “Let me see your shield , if you dont get it on the first try its okay, we keep trying” He sounds so sure that I would fail but not today Mister.
I smirk I am about to blow your mind just you wait
Scrunching my eyes a bit tighter, I finally open my closed palms slowly as the air in the room shifts ,I feel my shield by the edge of my right palm and I let it out slowly.It feels like a warm blanket as it envelopes me .
What in the goddess - Orzo exclaims as he stops pacing , I hear Enya's gasp of surprise too and I slowly open my eyes. I want to laugh but I cant lose focus right now.
The first thing that catches my eyes is the faint shimmery purple shield I created
“Its not strong enough” Orzo snaps without even commending me. Nodding I do not lose my focus internally I draw more energy and feed my shield right before his very eyes it thickens becoming more visible . The purple hue turning darker I look at me skin as electricity hums against glittering like stars.
Orzo grunts and without any warning he sends a wave of magic from his finger that strikes my shield . I raise my hands to defend myself heart racing pulse accelerating but nothing happens
My shield is still intact not even a crack is present!
