Chapter 78

Alex’s POV

The meeting was adjourned; Toby and myself thought it was best to have a conversation with the rest of the enforcers, Nath, Adrian and all their mates and let them know what was going on. We asked Dad; Elder Matthews, Tim and Eden to join us in our living area.

“Dad; can you put a silence spell around the room please” Joe asks Elder Matthews. “You and mum are going to have to teach me how to do that one day” Olivia grins.

When he was done; I began the conversation. “As you are aware; Jems has chosen to leave to be with Pedro; what you don’t know is why? Myself, Toby and Tim and all the other leaders from our community are fighting a losing battle at the moment. Information is still being leaked to the Maple Clan.”

“I thought it was just Sharon giving the information to Richard” Cherie tells us. “Jeremy went out to see Pedro last night; he was told Sharon and Richard are both being held in a holding room; to their disgust. We think; Sharon is a small piece of it, but there is someone else” Jessica points out.

“After a few key hints here and there at the meeting; the other leaders in our community and the Master Trainers all picked up on what Jeremy is really doing. Alex, Toby and Tim have him and Pedro going undercover. Our main focus is for them to tell us who is leaking the information” Joseph injects.

“Seth told them about the tournament you all did and he is one of the best fighters we have. Should be easy for Carter to try and nab his ass for his own gain” Jessica laughs.

“Is this why you wanted all those burner phones?” Elder Matthews asked me.

I laugh; “yes; thank you by the way. I got Elder Matthews to purchase a few hundred burner phones; he teleported away from here to do so. I have put one number in each of the phones. A message could come through to any of us here in this room or any of the other leaders in the community. He is to destroy the phone as soon as he sends a message. Can you all tell your relevant leaders to be on the lookout for random messages. They know how important it is to keep it subtle, Tim; Toby and myself will tell the others we can’t contact via mind link” I explain.

“Coby; you will most likely be asked questions about Jeremy; answer them to the best of your knowledge” Olivia tells him. “It’s not much; I didn’t really speak too much with him” he answers.

“The main thing is how good he is as a fighter; continue what Seth told everyone. We all took part in tournament to become Alex and Toby’s enforcers. There were 328 applicants; Jeremy, Glenn, Christian, Alister, Beck and myself were the best of those who applied” Kim informs him “See; I told you I could kick your ass” Rebecca comments. “I can still make you melt” he responds kissing the mark on her neck.

“We don’t have to tell you; the real reason Jeremy has gone to the Maple Clan is confidential and cannot be discussed. If you receive a message; mind link it through to Alex and Toby. If anyone asks; he went to be with Pedro, I gave him an ultimatum and he chose Pedro” Tim enforces.

We all jump as Debbie’s message tone goes off. She reads it aloud; “Got here and was introduced to Carter. He heard about the tournament and has me fighting three of his warriors. I’m going Lycan to do it; should get him interested. I can mind link Gilda, Leanne and Cynthia; they are happy I am here. It’s Yvette asking for steak. What does Yvette asking for steak have to do with things?” She asks after reading the message out.

Jessica and myself start laughing; “Jeremy said, Pedro told him one of the ladies is asking for steak; but it’s hard to come by there” I say between chuckles. “Bears aren’t big on red meat” Alister informs us. “We were trying to figure out who it was; it could have been any of the ladies” Jessica says. “Mum does love her steak; I bet she even asked for it to be medium-rare” Tim chuckles with us.

“We only finished the leaders meeting, half an hour ago. Carter has heard about the tournament already. Someone is definitely passing on information” Elder Matthews injects.

“Becky, can you tell Samantha about this please? she needs to know we can’t trust anyone who was at the meeting” Toby asks her. “She says, and I quote; ‘it’s only been half and hour; what the fuck is wrong with these people?’ She’s pissed off.”

“Alex, Toby; do you want to add a few more people to your pack. I can officiate. We can ask the other leader’s permission to have a trusted enforcer be a part of your pack so you can communicate with all the leaders here” Elder Matthews asks us. Tim smiles; “With Jeremy gone; I’ll appoint Andre. He was assigned to Cynthia and is upset with himself he didn’t stop them from taking her; it might give him his fighting spirit back” he tells us.

“That’s a great idea. Thank you, Granddad,” Olivia says as Elder Matthews phone starts to ring.

“Hello?” he answers as tears start to well up in his eyes as he puts it on speaker. “You can now talk, Gilly”

“Mum” Olivia gasps. “Jeremy said we can only talk for a few minutes and then we have to destroy the phone. We are ok; they still haven’t been able to open the door” she says to us. “I’m getting a bit of cabin fever; but can’t complain” Sophia adds. “I’m not getting my steak” Yvette complains.

“Mum; they don’t eat a lot of red meat; I’ll get you a steak when we get home” Toby laughs at her.

“Mum!” Cathy starts to cry. “Cathy; sweetie. I’m ok; I am here with four of the best friends I could have” she says.

“Alex; we want you to know we are ok. The three guards that have been feeding us have told us bits and pieces here and there. One of the packs you have as allies are not who you think they are. Don’t know which one because they couldn’t tell us and Jeremy is fine as long as he is with Pedro. There is something about, a proof of worth fight” Mum says to me.

“Jems has to fight three warriors. He said he is going to go Lycan to do it. Should get Carter interested” I tell her. “I’ll tell Pedro to bring him here when they are done, if he can. I’ll make sure he is ok” Sophia says to us.

“Jeremy gave us a couple more of these phones. We won’t call you unless we have to. We best be going” Gilda tells us. “We love you;” the five ladies say together before hanging up the phone. I look around the room; we are all crying. I wipe away the tears in my eyes.

“Toby; let’s talk with the leaders to get some more pack members” I tell him. “Sounds like a plan to me” he responds getting out of his chair.
